Switching it up in spooky style 🎃😎

Hello, everyone!

After two weeks of judging (and a questionably handled submission reel), the Creators finally announced the winners of the Red October Halloween Costume Contest. Without further ado, the six winning designs are Heart Witch by Big Rider, Zombie Nerd by Cheerful Boot, Pumpkin Punk by Gentle Dolphin (me! 😁), Midnight Kitten by Quiet Crumb, Phantom by Maroon Cloud, and Will-O’-Wisp by Sleepy Biker.

We look forward to seeing these spook-tacular costumes get brought to life this Halloween! ❤️🧟‍♀️🎃🐈‍⬛🎩🔥

After announcing the winners, the Creators’ Blog post goes on to say that the Red Baron will be on Home Island throughout the month of October! Not only is the Baron bringing the winning costumes, she’s also bringing some other spooky items from Poptropica’s past. Perhaps we’ll see a Count Bram costume or a Jersey Devil plushie?

While we wait for the Red Baron to arrive with her spooky bounty, Amelia’s Adventure Outfitters introduced a new outfit to celebrate skateboarding becoming an official Olympic sport. Members can purchase the radical Street Style outfit for 250 credits. Now avatars can at least look the part of a pro skater. 🛹

The Pop Creators don’t always post on Twitter. But when they do, it’s to like and share tweets promoting their game. This week, they’ve been engaging with a few fans who want to see Poptropica on the Nintendo Switch. Seems they like the idea:

The idea of Poptropica on the Switch isn’t too far off. Some of you may recall that there were two official Poptropica DS games: Poptropica Adventures and Poptropica: Forgotten Islands. While a Switch port would be cool, the Creators’ priorities should perhaps be to port the old islands to the base game, which is pretty lacking in its current state. But still, imagine Poptropica appearing in an upcoming Nintendo Direct!

Before I end this post, I want to talk about a new ad that has been turning heads. Some players have encountered videos ads for Venom: Let There Be Carnage playing in both the video bar below the game screen as well as in between scenes. It’s pretty shocking that a violent PG-13 movie is being advertised in a game aimed towards children. We’re not sure how much control the Creators have over these video ads, but let’s hope they are able to take these particular ads down.

That’s all I have for now! Are you looking forward to the Red Baron’s visit this October? Would you like to see a Poptropica Switch game? Let us know in the comments below!

Stay tuned for a background look into one of the upcoming Dream Island winners. We’re sure it will have you rolling on the floor with anticipation. 😜🏠

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

  1. Oooh, awesome outfits! Can’t wait to buy them! I wonder what other spooky items will be available!
I too hope the Venom ad is taken down soon because younger kids might even be forced to watch the trailer, since the ad videos now come up in between screens on the game. I really don’t like the idea of like seven-year-olds or something watching violent videos like this.

  2. I think a poptropica for the switch sounds cool. It would allow the creators to take all of our feedback and let them really try to polish the game and the islands to our standards, maybe even try to bring back a few of the old ones? I really don’t know how that will work, but anyways, congrats to you Gentle Dolphin and all the winners!

  3. Congrats on your winning costume, Gentle Dolphin! All the Hallowinners are looking stupendously spooky, and it’ll be interesting to see what the Baron brings to life this October.

Still don’t know what the deal is with the slow porting of the old islands to the base game, but if it’s about technical difficulties, the Switch idea is intriguing. It’ll take some work to make a Switch port, but would it be more feasible than bringing them back online? 🤔Either way, the demand is clearly out there.

    1. Thanks, Fishy! I’m interested in seeing how the costumes will translate into the Poptropica style, especially the Phantom costume.

I’m not a programmer so I’m not sure how the porting process works or how long it takes to port a whole island. We know the Creators have been focusing their attention on the Dream Island winners and side quests, but it would be nice if they gave us a progress report regarding the old islands.

As for Switch support, I think it would either be a collection of fan-favorite islands or an original tale based in the world of Poptropica. While a Switch port seems unlikely, it would be cool to see Poptropica on the radar again.

    1. They may have seen it, there IS lots of people who signed up… but I bet your outfits could have been good in the game either way. Just never stop trying, and they might someday feature it, there’s always next month. Your costumes DO sound nice.

  4. Pumpkin Punk is my favorite. It’s so… Me!
About that Venom ad, I got it once and I would never let a six or seven year-old watch that. Hopefully the creators will take it down.

    1. Thank you! I feel flattered that my costume is someone’s favorite. I hope the Creators choose one of your designs someday.

I sent a report about the Venom ads before I wrote this post, so I hope they notice and take action. I wonder why the ads showed up in the first place?
