Halloween Fun 101 🎃

It’s that spooktacular time of year again! Thrilling parties, chilling movies, tricks and treats all around! Yes, Halloween is upon us like the brisk autumn air that just blew in out of nowhere. Speaking of which, you best put on a hat! It’s only going to get colder from here…

Once you’ve grabbed your hat and picked out some pumpkins, go find a costume, and hurry! Time is running out and you can’t trick-or-treat without a costume! I mean, maybe you can, but what fun would that be?

If you’re having trouble deciding what costume to choose from, try rooting through your closet. If you have no costumes in your closet, you can either get creative with a clever combination of clothes and accessories from your inventory or swing by the nearest costume shop and pick something out!

Most importantly, grab a bag or a Halloween basket to put your candy in. Grocery bags and pillow sacks work great, but if you don’t have those go get a happy meal at McDonald’s! They always have Happy Meal “Boo Buckets” this time of year!

But I know what you’re thinking: “Aren’t we a little old for this trick-or-treating business?” My answer is no! Why? I know people who still go trick-or-treating even in their 50s! Plus, there are whole families who trick-or treat in group costumes like the Flintstones or the Incredibles.

Besides, we all have masks on so nobody is going to really know how old you are. Just play nice and blend in with the crowd. You’ll be just fine.

But if your neighborhood has grouchy neighbors who tell you that you’re too old for trick-or-treating, then I suggest you try trick-or-treating at the mall. There are also fall carnivals, trunk-or-treats, and harvest festivals everywhere on Halloween night, so try finding events like those as well!

P.S.  Feel free to attend as many Halloween parties and events as I do, because it isn’t just bonus candy; it’s bonus costumes and Halloween fun too!

Calling all Poptropica fans (and everyone who knows Poptropica, for that matter)! After a whole year of swashbuckling sequel production comes the feature film you’ve all been waiting for: “Pirates, Camera, ACTION!” And with it comes a big surprise: during production, the movie had gotten so long that I decided to split it into multiple parts!

…So, while I continue to press on with Part 2, Part 1 is now playing with two versions. Here’s the original with silent dialogue:

Battle Morale: an interview with Pop movie producer Invisible Ring 🌠🎥

Hey Poptropicans, if you’ve been hoping against hope for the way the game’s been going, this might just be the pick-me-up for you.

Battle Morale is a feature-length Poptropica fan movie by Invisible Ring and released only last month. You can watch the full film below. Plus, scroll down for a PHB-exclusive interview with the perky producer!

Battle Morale tells the story of an optimistic Poptropican — Ring starring as herself — seeking hope and truth in a dark and pessimistic world. Along the way, she goes on a mission to retrieve pirate treasure, confronts a former Pop Creator on the world’s troubles, and dives into the deep rivalry between Amelia and the Baron. We won’t spoil everything here, but invite you to join the journey in the video above!

And now, let’s welcome our special guest to chat with us about her inspirations and process of pulling off this project: the kindred kid and the Poptropican of passion, Invisible Ring!

Think this music has a nice Ring to it 🎶

What’s that melodious music playing throughout our island adventures? That’s the topic of the latest guest post on the Creators’ Blog, brought to you by one not-so-unseen Invisible Ring.

As Ring shares, you can find a huge library of Poptropica music freely available on composer Jeff Heim’s Soundcloud playlist. Give it a listen:

Here on the PHB, we’ve been fans of Jeff Heim’s popping tunes for quite some time. PHB readers even voted his Monster Carnival Main Theme for Best Soundtrack in our first ever Poppies fan awards event back in 2015, plus Jeff Heim was the first Pop Creator to ever comment on the PHB in all its years of existence. Lots of love to our man Jeff! 💙

Anyway, back to the guest post. Ring writes, “I used to revisit Mystery of the Map, Monkey Wrench, and other islands again and again just to hear those sweet sounds!” Though most of the islands are now gone until further notice, Heim’s Soundcloud preserves much of their musical memory. (And there’s more on the PHB’s Music page, too!)

You might also recognize this karaoke party scene from Invisible Ring’s Party Clubhouse Tour she shared on the PHB a while back. In case you missed it, she’s also shared a castle and regular room from her clubhouse. Incredibly, a fourth one is on its way, so stay tuned for that!

On the same day, the Creators’ Blog also dropped a sentimental post for Thinknoodles, the longtime Poptropica YouTuber, and his recent release of an OG-style Fairytale Island playthrough. The PHB covered this a few days ago, but in case you missed it, check out the vid below:

It’s a little amusing to see the Creators gushing so hard with sentences like, “Please tell us we’re not the only ones that are starstruck! 🤩” One might wonder how this could possibly be the same Creators team who just last week forgot about Betty Jetty, an iconic villain from Super Power Island. Are they compensating? 😉

But the praises for Thinknoodles also offer some hope that perhaps there are still some OG Pop Creators around who understand what made the game so special, which has been a concern among the fandom particularly since the involuntary exodus of several talented Creators in 2018 and the questionable direction of the game ever since.

And yet, our unnamed blogger from Pop HQ boldly claims, “…to think the best is still yet to come! 🥺💙”

We certainly hope so, Poptropica.
