Poptropica livestream & Halloween costumes for FI

Hey everyone! The Stream Team over at Massively from the gaming website Joystiq.com will be hosting a Poptropica livestream this Friday at 4pm Eastern time – and a few Poptropica Creators may be tuning in to talk and take questions from viewers, which means it’s your chance to talk to a Creator!

Beau is going to show off a really neat kid’s browser-based game calledย Poptropica. If you like bright colors, adventure, and adorable characters, then check out this beginner’s guide!

If you’re planning to check it out, we’d love to hear about how it goes in the comments! What questions do you want to ask the Creators?

UPDATE: The livestream is now over, but you can view the archived video at Massively! You can listen in on Beau Hindman commenting on the game with a few of Poptropica’s Creators: developer Jordan Leary, senior artist Nate Greenwall, and senior producer Mitch Krpata. Here were a few interesting things that were mentioned:

  1. Beau asks about player housing – there’s a pause and then the Creators answer not currently, but it’s “something we’re playing with… that we know our fans want… do it when we can do it in a way that says Poptropica.”
  2. Poptropica is working on bringing all the current islands (such as Charlie & the Chocolate Factory) on mobile devices (first for iOS) in early 2014.
  3. Music and the new navigation will be added to all the islands in the future.
  4. Poptropica has an official Twitter account, but it’s more of an industry account than for users.
  5. The Creators also check what readers say on fan blogs! And when asked about costume contests for players, fan blogs were mentioned again (in fact, the PHB has oneย right now!).

In other news, the Poptropica iOS game Forgotten Islands has a free update available! Some new Halloween wear was added to the closet so you could dress in style for the season. And if you want a guide for the game, check out the PHB’s Forgotten Islands Walkthrough (with tons of pictures)!

Speaking of spooky fashion, have you entered the PHB’s 5th Annual Halloween Costume Competition yet? You’ve only got until next Thursday, when winners will be announced on Halloween! There have been some spectacular entries, but there’s still time for more, so enter if you dare!

Merchandise, Poptropolis Games Island, Tribes

Diggin’ up a sale, this Halloween!

Hey guys, BT here. (I KNOW IT’S BEEN A WHILE SINCE YOU READ MY TEXT. >:) )

Now, we know about Poptropolis’s return, right? Well, the Creators have created a little special event (over on Poptropolis Games Island on the Map) where we are challenged to navigate the ocean depths so many times and hit the bottom as many times as you can, without getting eaten by a shark that is.

And whichever Tribe collects the most dirt will have something special on the Main Street once the island resurfaces… I’ve yet to understand what that is, yet .-. .

Well well, this’ll be interesting… wonder which tribe is gonna win? Please, help me pull this off, my fellow Black Flags…

Even this guy knows that everything is on the blogs…

Anyways, in other news, there is a sale in the Poptropica Shop! If you want a shirt with a Poptropican on it, you can get a 30% off discount when you enterย the code FALL30 as a promotional code, until November 5th!

Tired of digging underwater? Well, if you haven’t already, here’s a friendly reminder to enter your spooky Halloween costume in the PHB’s 5th annual Halloween Competition! Check it out!

Well, that is about it… dig on, peeps!

BT out!

Pop goes the Tootsie Roll, Babymouse, eggs & froyo

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? The new Tootsie Roll ad game (which I found on Early Poptropica) has you going around a forest to ask various animals the question. Beware of the bees and make sure you get to Mr. Cow, Turtle, Fox, & Owl before time is up! Speaking of which… this is what the fox says?!

When you get to Mr. Owl, he’ll bite his candy before getting to the center, and you’ll win a Tootsie Roll Pop (which comes in blue, orange, and red) and Tootsie Roll Rain Power (which rains down brown Tootsie Roll tubes)! Press the space bar while holding the pop and count how many licks it takes to reach the center (the number varies).

There’s also an ad for the Babymouse book series, which I found on Time Tangled. On the second floor, you can pick up the Queen of the World power, which simply flashes an image of Babymouse on top of the world.

And now for a couple of this week’s Daily Pop sneak peeks! In case the Tootsie Rolls weren’t enough to sate your appetite, we’ll be seeing eggs and ice cream, too…

Egg Hunt – Be careful. There’s no candy in there.

Soft Serve – We all scream for froyo.

Also, remember that the PHB is hosting its 5th Annual Halloween Costume Competition this month! We’ve been receiving lots of spectacularly spooky entries, but there’s still time to join in! Ten winners will be selected to be featured on the PHB homepage and Costumes page on Halloween (Oct 31st). In the meantime, let’s keep those entries coming!

The Gravity of Octopus Volleyball

Poptropolis Games 2013 is on the rise, and with it, two exciting new events: Octopus Volleyball and Volcano Race! And what a big cephalopod we’ve got here…

Now what about Volcano Race? Perhaps the Daily Pop can give us a clue… or maybe these recent sneak peeks are part of something else entirely.

Sit On It – In our Game of Thrones, everybody wins.

Any Two Can Play – And the big wheel keep turnin’. Neon burnin’ up above.

Blades of Steel – We’d make a cutting remark but we’re feeling a little dull.

The Poptropica Creators also referenced the 2013 movie Gravity in one of their posts this week, suggesting that the idea may be similar to the plot of Lunar Colony Island. How cool would a Poptropica film be? Poptropica islands may well be movie-worthy material!
