More Land creations & Poptropica tweets

Hey Poptropicans! Have you checked out the PHB’s Poptropica Land contest yet? Blake will be accepting entries until September 5th, but if you have yet to pull together something awesome, check out this new set of Land creations posted on Poptropica’s Twitter – which this time credited its makers: Mad Tiger, Hyper Drummer, and Striped Fox! (Click to enlarge pics.)

Speaking of Poptropica’s Twitter… they finally followed us back! 😀 (The PHB is @Poptropica_Help on Twitter, and we tweet links to the Creators’ as well as our own latest blog posts!)

pop retweet

Poptropica likes to tweet out various Poptropica fansites/creations, reply to questions, among other things, like the #IceBucketChallenge with villains mentioned in BT’s post earlier.

Here’s another tidbit: PHB reader Nameless UnDEFiNed recently asked about the top 10 island finishers that used to get shoutouts on the Creators’ Blog, and Poptropica has responded saying that it stopped with the launch of the World Champions maps, but that they’ll discuss it again — maybe something will come of it? 😛

top10

In other news, two of our PHB authors – Angry Wing, who joined last year, and Shaggy Tornado, who’s been posting here since 2010 – will no longer be blogging here, due to inactivity, loss of interest, and the inevitable busy-ness of school life. They will be missed! 😦

Poptropica contributes to a “cool” cause

Hey guys, BT here with a little quickie post.

In the Creators’ ongoing trend of catching on to what is hot (or should I say cold) on the Internet, they are showing support for the ALS Association by creating not one, not two, not three, but four #IceBucketChallenge images. One of them, on the Creators’ blog, was an image of Oliver and Jorge of Poptropica comic fame taking the ice water with stride — or as much stride as Jorge can show.

IMG_0553

These next few images are exclusively on the Twitter page, and it took a less… erm… conventional route as the Creators’ official tweeter decided to have a certain mighty Mythology god (and a few of his villain buddies) take the challenge in the way only they can.

This ice challenge (or should I say “hail and rain challenge”) image makes me wonder if the Zeus avatar pic the tweeter bears isn’t just random choice, but instead is this Creator’s Popsona, like there are Captain Crawfish and Black Widow on the Creators’ blog. (Although Black Widow & Dr. Hare do make an appearance here as well.) And from the images here, I predict that Creator is likely in the visuals department somewhere since he/she threw this together and all…

So have you done the ice bucket challenge yet? How was it?

BT out with this quick post!

BTS Overview & Theory: PoptropiCon, Ep. 1

BTS - Poptropicon 1

Hey guys! HPuterpop, Samwow5, and I have decided to start a new series together, called Behind the Scenes Overview & Theory. We thought that it would be best to take all the knowledge that we can gather from behind-the-scenes (BTS) Poptropica files/coding and compile them together in one simple-to-find place. Plus, with three minds thinking at once, a more spot-on theory is sure to come out. 🙂

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW (but that’s what you want, isn’t it?)

Overview of evidence

To kick off the series, let’s start with an island soon to be: PoptropiCon (Ep. 1: Line Forms Here). We have circled/boxed certain things in red in each picture that we think are important/just want to mention. Click to enlarge all the images.

If you’ve been keeping up with PopCon sneak peeks, you’ve probably seen the background above before. The window that has been circled are noticeable in both pictures. It looks as if we, or someone else, breaks in or out of the building.  The “Thor” advertisement is circled because dialog related to it is shown further into the post.

This was also found, possibly representing a fight of sorts. The “glass breaking noise” might be from the window in the pictures above.

Now for some dialogue.

As you can see, this is why the “Thor” advertisement was circled before (Bucky Lucas plays him in a movie). Other things that we found connections to were a Fremulon mask and the time of a cosplay contest (more on that below). Now, all of this dialog is from Poptropicans waiting in line for the bathroom. Why do we want to get into the bathroom ASAP? The boxed text in this next picture may explain why.

In this image, you can see that the cosplay contest begins at noon.

Here, we can see where we get the Fremulon mask, earning it by speaking Fremulon. We also wanted to box the dialog about pizza and costume creation because we found image connections.

The pictures speak for themselves, aside from the squid mask. That was circled simply for the fact that this island is definitely going to be filled with cool, customizable objects/outfits.

Hmm… a selfie? A wizard? Sounds familiar

Yep, that looks about right. Plus, it seems that we have already met this man by the bathroom.

It looks like we need a ticket for some reason, huh? Could we have been looking for the “Power Amulet” in the bathroom?

Here we go, the final facts. There are a lot of guards/bouncers around, along with VIP sections and long lines. But why would we need a catapult? o_o

PoptropiCon is the hottest ticket in town. It’ll take all your wits — and more than a few disguises — to crash the party!

Yes, we can’t forget the island synopsis that has been given to us. It definitely backs up our conclusion…

Final theory

Based on the evidence above, we have more or less agreed on this concluding theory:

We don’t have a ticket to PoptropiCon and need to get in. By helping the people around us, we either manage to get a ticket, get progressively closer to the front of the line (although it’s a bathroom line, so… XD ), or use a catapult to bust in through a window.  There are a lot of guards around, presumably because a few famous people are inside.

I know, I know, not the deepest theory out there, but it’s the best we got. Besides… it look like PoptropiCon is right around the corner! 😉

poptropicon poptropicanEveryone is dressed up for the biggest sci-fi and fantasy convention in Poptropica. At PoptropiCon, the most important thing isn’t what you do — it’s how you look doing it!

The PoptropiCon Tour page is now up, along with goodies for members and non-members. Start setting up your tents now because Episode 1: Line Forms Here is coming soon!

PoptropiCon is the hottest ticket in town. It’ll take all your wits — and more than a few disguises — to crash the party!

The desktop wallpaper (click to enlarge) is free for all and can be found on the tour page.

poptropicon costumes

For members, Lunar Colony and Game Show Costumes are in the Poptropica Store for free. Not enough, huh? Well fear not! Members also get a printable poster from the Store! With it, you can print out a magazine (just a poster though) of yourself and other superheroes and hang it high on your wall for all to see.

Looking good. 😎 Sadly, your poptropican doesn’t have a cool pose, like the rest of the heroes.

Well, on that note, this is going to be our 40th Poptropica island! 😀 Whoop, whoop!

We will keep looking for behind the scenes news on the island to keep you all up to date. 😉

Arabian Nights Island, PHB Sneak Peeks

Arabian Nights Ep. 1: backgrounds and more details!

Hey everyone! As you may know from my last post, I’m going to be more inactive, but not leaving. I still have 7-8 days left in my summer to post here. 😛 Anyway, let’s get going with these sneak peeks!

HP and I were looking behind the scenes and found some amazing stuff about Arabian Nights Ep. 1: How Bazaar! As you see below, that is the background of the Cliff on Arabian Nights Ep. 1. This is the first background and it explains what to do on a part of the island. (click on it for better detail)

arab1cliff

This one below is of the Cave on Arabian Nights Ep. 1 (continued from the pic above), and it also explains what to do in that part of the island. Looks like there was some kind of mining accident that occurred here years before you’ll go in. (click on it for better detail)

arab1cave

If you haven’t seen some of the latest Daily Pop sneak peeks of Arabian Nights Ep. 1, How Bazaar, well here they are (again, click to enlarge):

One especially caught my eye, “The Camp Value”. If you notice in the Cave background above, there’s a place that says “abandoned campsite of previous explorers”.

arab1sneakpeek4

It could be that the Daily Pop pic is a picture of another explorer’s previous camp, or your own campsite that you make on the island. This island is looking better and better! If I find anything interesting I’ll try to make another post. 😀
