Hey Poptropicans! Apologies for the delay in this announcement, but anyway – PoptropiCon, Episode 2: Spoiler Alert is now available for all to play! If you get stuck on how to proceed, check out our PoptropiCon Island Guide, our walkthrough complete with pictures. ๐
Meanwhile, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid ad for book 9, The Long Haul, is still around. For more details on the pig-pushing game and the prizes it gives out, check out Slippery Raptor’s post about it here.
Finally,ย the Creators have mentioned that R.A. Montgomery, who authoredย the Choose Your Own Adventureย book series which included a book that inspired Nabooti Island (The Lost Jewels of Nabooti), has passed away at the age of 78. RIP, Raymond Almiran Montgomery!
That’s all for now – and this post’s bad pun is: pop over later, Poptropicans.
The Public Land Preview may be over, but the hype isn’t! Captain Crawfish filmed a quick tour of Zany Crown’s treehouse, the winner of the “Best of the Land”ย readers’ย poll.ย ๐
Pretty cool, huh? I definitelyย think the basement with the tree roots was the best part of the Land. It was super creative, so congrats, Zany! (Plus,ย Land will be released as a full version early next year!)
Popping 3D on Forgotten Islands
Plus, the Creators posted a reminder thatย Poptropica: Forgotten Islands is now out for Nintendo 3DS. (Well, actually, it has been out for about a month now.) You can buy it from Amazonย or a local toy store if they haveย it. Just in time for the holidays!
This game marks the first time Poptropica has been presented with stereoscopic 3D, and you don’t even need overpriced 3D glasses!
More behind-the-scenes art
Of course, as is the trend these days, more behind-the-scenes art has been released on Poptropica’sย Twitterย and also their new Tumblr. (Click to enlarge the images.)
Check out PopStorm #4 –ย deviating from the “hair” themes of the first three, this oneย demonstratesย theย squash and stretch theme.
Finally, hereย is a sneak peek of aย palace interior scene for an upcoming, unannounced island. Apparently the island will be coming in January 2015, so that’sย not too far away!
Any theories, guys? I may be way off, but this image kind of reminds me of the underground cave Daily Pops that surfacedย throughoutย 2013. Some people even thought they could be for the return of Legendary Swords. Check out this or this PHB post for some of these sneak peeks, or see some of the images below from our Daily Pop sneak peek archive.
Shroom Available: Looks like a fungal infection has gotten out of control.
Gate Crasher: You came to the wrong neighborhood.
Hot Springs: Nothing like a relaxing dip in some molten lava.
Down Under: Nope, not Australia. It’s even under there.
Undercurrents: Like this water, you may eventually find your own level.
The Glow Pt 2: A light in the darkness is helpful no matter where it’s from.
Spelunky: Gear up before you go down.
On the Edge: Don’t go overboard.
Fossil Fuel: The soil holds many secrets.
The images seem to have a similar style, right? Then again, at a second glace, the old Daily Pops remind me of Arabian Nights too. Well, hopefully you guys have some better theories than I do. ๐
Last but not least, PoptropiCon, Ep. 2: Spoiler Alert releases to everyone tomorrow! Get ready for a big plot twist – and if you need spoilers, check out our PoptropiCon Island Guide. ๐
That’s all for now! Comment your thoughts below. ๐
Hey Poptropicans! You can consider this post a continuation of my last post I suppose (I posted it just before a ton of new tweets came out). However, this one will be a little longer. ๐
First off, the Creators released another piece of Monster Carnival concept art, again for the creatures.
I think my favorite is the bottom left. ๐
The Creators released another planet-related post as well (although it is not related to Galactic Hot Dogs). Instead, it is a sneak peek for Poptropica Land!ย I can’t believe I’m saying this, but we will create… A WHOLE NEW WORLD!!! XD We’ll get to manage our own worlds – pretty neat stuff!
I don’t know about you guys, but this looks amazing to me. Anyone getting a “Spore” vibe? ๐
It doesn’t have much to do with Poptropica, I know, but I want you to remember something that was mentioned a while ago. A Galactic Hotdogs Island was brought up to question, which makes a lot of sense, considering all the notice it has been getting in the world of Poptropica. Nothing to go into detail about, just something we should know.
Well, like I said this is just a quick post. Remember that PoptropiCon Episode 2 (Spoiler Alert) is coming out for everyone this Thursday! ๐
Hey everyone! First off, before the post, I’m sorry I haven’t been active really at all – life has been a bit rough, so bear with me in this tough time! Anyway, Poptropica recently tweeted that they now have an Official Tumblrย page!
@teenageherald http://t.co/QOtEFl9bQj Just starting very slowly there. Poking around, checking and figuring it out.
From looking at their Tumblr, I see some really cool stuff! I see the creators re-blog a lot of stuff on Tumblr, like how they also retweet a lot of stuff over on Twitter. I just hope the creators don’t re-blog any inappropriate language that people post on Tumblr, as they did on Twitter.
Big Hero 6 ad: Baymax Follower
To get the Baymax Followerย (from the movie Big Hero 6, which was released into theaters today), just watch the video ad on any Main Street, and boom – you get the coolย prize!
LOL! Is it just me or does the Baymax Followerย kind ofย look like the Michelin Man or theย Stay Puft Marshmallow Man?ย xD Tell me what you think in the comments.

Interview with Poptropica comic writerย Paul Gilligan
Remember Slippery Raptor’s post about an interview with Poptropica’s comic artist, Kory Meritt, conductedย by L’Idea Magazine? (Heย confirmed the release of the upcoming Poptropica graphic novel!)
Well, the magazine did another interview with another Poptropica employee – Paul Gilligan, the writer of the Poptropicacomics. Although he didn’t give away any important details like Kory did, Paulย said some pretty interesting stuffย – check out this little tidbit:
LโIDEA MAGAZINE: In June of this year you debuted with another comic strip, Poptropica. Could you tell us how it came about and what is the storyline?
PAUL GILLIGAN: Poptropica is a popular website where players can create avatars and travel through a plethora of interesting islands.ย The websiteโs creator, Jeff Kinney (of โDiary of a Wimpy Kidโ fame) wanted a comic strip to go with it, and so he hired me to do the writing.ย There were pre-existing templates for the two main characters of Oliver and Jorge.ย I fleshed them out and gave them the motivation that theyโre searching for a way out of Poptropica by traveling from island to island, kinda like that show โQuantum Leapโ, like each time they hop to the next island it will be the one that leads them home.
LโIDEA MAGAZINE: In Poptropica you share the credits with Kory Merritt. How do you operate in the creation of the strip with him?ย
PAUL GILLIGAN: I do the writing, accompanied by thumbnails if necessary, and Kory pencils out the strips and runs them by me.ย I bring up any alterations that might be necessary for clarity, etc, and then he inks and colors the work.ย Itโs been a fairly seamless collaboration thus far; Koryโs a great artist and super easy to work with.
Wow! I never thought ofย jumping island-to-island as something like Quantum Leap! Anyway, that’s it for this long post. Have a great day!
