A hair-raising multiversial throwback

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and I got a quick little post for you guys today!

First of all, there’s a new advertisement game showing up on Home Island – this time it’s for Tangled the Series, a new Disney Channel show coming next month!

Once you go inside, talk with Cassandra, the woman with the short black hair and she asks you to find Rapunzel and the items she dropped along the way before time runs out.

A good tip for this minigame is to follow the golden hair for the first three items and then continue looking on the upper level for the items!

For your troubles, you are rewarded with a Pascal Follower and a selection of three Braids!

In other news, longtime Poptropicans may remember when the Multiverse card was introduced to the store, and thus gave players the ability to see each other in a common room more easily! Multiverses are an important part of the Poptropica Help Blog lifestyle – multiple multiverse parties were part of the blog’s history, after all!

In the newest Creators’ Blog post, Skinny Moon takes us down memory lane with a new how-to video posted on the Creators’ YouTube channel, showing us how to use the Multiverse feature. Here’s the video (you may already know how to use the ‘verse, but just in case you don’t, this should help):

.

As we continue turning the clock, we end up in 2015, since Skinny Moon showed off a picture from her first visit to the Multiverse with community members – a picture from the PHB at that!

Also, the blog went way back to the year 2009, when the multiverse first released, showing off an old video where multiple Creators joined together on a multiverse to goof around with the new-at-the-time Flower Power card!

.

Thanks to the Multiverses, we all (well, only some at a time) can meet up in a common room, answer questions, play games, and hope the game doesn’t lag with all the special effects unleashed upon it!

The best place to see whether a Multiverse party going on (or to start your own) is on the Poptropica Help Chat, where you can talk with players at the same time. The PHB staff and plenty of other Poptropicans like to hang out there, and we hope to see you too!

Until next time, BT out!

Pop 5: Ideas for Multiplayer Features

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post written by TallMelonisCool, a Poptropica player in the community. In this post he’ll be sharing his ideas for more features in multiplayer rooms. Enjoy! –🐠)

pop5-multiplayer

Hey guys! So, I like popping into common rooms a lot on Poptropica to chat with, battle, and friend other Poptropicans. Although it’s pretty fun, I think there are some features that could be introduced to make multiplayer on Poptropica even better. Hopefully, the Creators can consider these ideas for the future, and I also hope you guys like these ideas. Let’s go!

1. Make it easier to view who’s currently in the multiplayer room

In order to show the options for chatting, battling, or friending someone in a multiplayer room, the player you click on has to be standing still – but sometimes, they just will not stop moving!

What they should do is have a window you can open or close that lists all the players currently in the room, as well as options next to them that say Chat / Battle / Friend. Prompting any of these actions would bring your Poptropican over to them if you aren’t already there, so they can see that you’re interested in interacting with them.

2. Show what the other player is busy with

You know when you really want to chat or battle with a Poptropican, but they’re always busy? Well, I’d love to know just what they’re busy with. Whether it’s looking through their backpack items, browsing the store, or checking out their friends’ profiles, I’d like to see the message “Sorry, I’m busy right now” changed to something that indicated what they were up to.

They could even have a feature where you can click on options for feelings (like the ones on your friend profile), so you can tell others something like, “I’m feeling happy/sad/sleepy right now.”

3. Option to choose who your chat question is directed to

Not everyone knows this, but when you chat with someone, every Poptropican in the room gets to answer the question. This is cool sometimes, but not always. It’s not so great when you just want to battle someone but they’re taking a while to answer and then a question comes up that delays them even further. Instead, you should have the option to either ask everyone the question, or just the one player you clicked on when you pressed Chat.

They should also add the option to enable/disable receiving questions if you don’t want to chat at a certain time.

4. A new mini-game

I play a lot of head-to-head game battles in the multiplayer rooms, and I really do mean a lot. So sometimes, I wish there were more options for games to play. Poptropica has only twice added more games to the collection, when Soupwords first came out in 2008 and Pathwise in 2009.

Anyway, here are some games I’d like to play multiplayer on Poptropica:

  • Chess: This game has lots of skill involved, though it tends to take longer to finish than the other games usually do. Still, we already have Sudoku, which also takes a while to finish a round.
  • Switch: Switch is currently a single-player game only, but I can easily see this game becoming a multiplayer game. It could be a timed game where the winner is whoever scores the highest by racking up the best combos.
  • Circle Tap: Imagine a whiteboard with a circle (or a dot). The goal is to click on the circle before the other player does. Once it’s clicked, it will move to a different position, and you’ll try to click on it again before the other player clicks on it, and on it goes. The first to click the circle 10 times wins!

5. More actions (emotes)

Multiplayer rooms already come with a few actions, which you can perform by pressing the emoticons on the right side. But multiplayer rooms could be even more social with some more emotes. Here are some ideas:

  • waving a hand
  • tap dance
  • fold arms
  • looking up
  • clapping
  • hands on waist
  • hands in the air
  • sit down for two seconds

Alright, that’s all I have now, guys. Thanks for reading, and if you have any comments or suggestions of your own, please leave them down below!

Poptropica Worlds, Sneak Peeks

Poptropica Worlds: Picture Previews

Hey there, Poptropicans!

It’s Happy Lobster, and I’ve got some exciting new sneak peeks of Poptropica Worlds, which is coming out this spring (for the Northern Hemisphere, and autumn for the Southern Hemisphere).

If you click on the link directly above, there will be a video trailer for Poptropica Worlds, in which you’ll see a few Poptropicans (most recognisably Dr. Lange), but the art style is more detailed than the original Poptropica’s characters – which clearly is the style that will be used in the upcoming Pop Worlds.

But recently, there have been a few more images of these intriguing new Poptropicans, from the Poptropica App descriptions in iTunes and Google Play! (Credit to Perfect Flyer for this discovery!)

From these previews, there are a couple of things to take note of:

  • Five or more new islands not on the original Poptropica will be in Pop Worlds (since there are currently 46 islands in Poptropica, not counting individual episodes, and the bottom-leftmost picture states that there will be 50+ islands in Poptropica Worlds). However, we might not see all of these 50+ islands immediately, answered by Skinny Moon in a somewhat recent Q&A.

q&aislands.png

  • More Store cards will be in the Poptropica Worlds Store. Since there have been less than 1000 Store cards over Poptropica’s history, still existent or not, in-game or app-exclusive, this much is quite likely (and there are costumes in some of the previews that have never been seen before). However, it seems marginally unlikely that there will be 1000+ Store items at once in the Store to collect, so possibly that picture with Dr. Hare’s statement includes more than just Store items, or there are more app-exclusive costumes in the App included with the 1000+.

That isn’t all, though. The two app sites list some features about Poptropica Worlds:

– Explore the virtual world of Poptropica and its 20 islands!
– You’re the Hero! Solve 1000+ mysteries!
– Customize your hero from head to toe with 1000+ themed outfits!
– Collect items from your favorite heroes!
– Multiplayer game where you can meet and chat with your friends! Join a community of more than 10M players.
– Create your own island!
– Free to play, with in-app purchases available for more customization!

So, most of these we already know, with the old Poptropica. But it’s that penultimate point which is interesting – that we can create our own island. Most likely it’s just our own unique home island (remember that poll about what house we wanted in Poptropica Worlds?). But who knows what might happen in the future – it could mean something else.

Also, to that top point – the last time Poptropica (the old version) had 20 islands was back in 2011 – so it’s probably a typo. But going back to what Skinny Moon hinted, not all islands may be there at once in Poptropica Worlds.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this tour through some new and revealing Poptropica Worlds articles! I’ll see you soon – stay tuned on the PHB for more upcoming Poptropica Worlds news!

A peek into the beastly Pelican Rock

Hello, everyone!

Lucky Joker here sharing some cool schematics and animations of one February’s Islands of the Month, Escape from Pelican Rock, that came from the Creators’ Blog earlier today.

efpr35

This post contains minor spoilers about the plot and characters. If you’d rather not see the behind the scenes material, I suggest you scroll past. Now onto the good stuff!

Just in case you don’t know, a schematic is usually a simple drawing or diagram showing and explaining how a game will be played.

As for EFPR, the creators gave us two bits of the schematic for our viewing because, of course, they don’t want to spoil everything for those who haven’t played the island yet. Anyway, check it out! (For the best quality images, see the post on the Creators’ Blog.)

As you can see, the island was originally referred to as Prison Break Island. There’s a lot of detail for events that are triggered, and it’s even confirmed in the notes that the coastal city is modeled after San Francisco, as we’ve suspected.

Once the schematic has been altered and finalized, the designing can commence! Take a look at these images one of the artists illustrated of the escape scene at the end:

After the designing process, animations are done to bring the island to life!

Check out one of the animator’s concepts of a flood light searching for any hopeful escapees.

Awesome, right? Well, that’s all of the behind the scenes looks for now. Hopefully, we’ll get more soon!

Remember: For this month only, first-time finishers of both, Escape from Pelican Rock and Reality TV Island, will receive 500 credits and those who are replaying them will earn 300 credits. (If you need some assistance on EFPR, check out the PHB’s walkthrough!)

In other news, there’s an ad for Beauty and the Beast on Home Island. Check out the trailer video, and you’ll be given a Lumiere Follower. Once used, pressing the spacebar will activate a cool glow effect that illuminates a yellow circle around you while keeping everything else dark.

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here.

pmfmexecutiveorder

It’s about time that law got passed. Memes for all, in celebration! Welcome to round sixty-three of PMFM (Poptropican Meme Face Mondays)!

pmfm-round63

The lucky meme-faced Poptropicans this week are Blue Raptor, shavone101, and our very own Happy Lobster! And here are the memes:

Feel free to click on the images to view them in their full glory. 😛

Want your own meme face?

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most recent PMFM post (just choose the top one of the list, here). Be sure to follow the criteria below:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the meme face on Poptropica and keep it on for at least a week.
  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve basis, so your meme face will come after all of the ones before are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to re-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I reply to your comment mentioning “You being added to the list,” then I have seen your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will be made after each one before is made.

This completes round sixty-three of meme faces. Tune in next Monday for the next Poptropican Meme Face Mondays!
