Want your own meme face?

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most recent PMFM post (just choose the top one of the list, here). Be sure to follow the criteria below:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the meme face on Poptropica and keep it on for at least a week.
  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include the username you use to log into Poptropica in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve basis, so your meme face will come after all of the ones before are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to re-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I reply to your comment mentioning “You being added to the list,” then I have seen your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will be made after each one before is made.

This completes round sixty-seven of meme faces. Tune in next Monday for the next Poptropican Meme Face Mondays!

My Place in Poptropica: TylerMaster

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of TylerMaster, a longtime Poptropica glitcher who continues to discover new things to this day. See below for how to send in your own MPIP!

2007-2009 | The Start of My Adventures

I started playing Poptropica in 2007, very close to when it first came out, and I was seven years old at the time. I discovered the game at school and I had lots of fun playing it.

When I first started playing Poptropica, there was no friends list or anything like that. But I still had lots of fun beating islands.

Then one day, in 2009, I saw that they had added something new: the Store! So I saved up as many credits as I could get so that I could get lots of items. I had lots of fun doing that, but eventually got bored of it, so I took a break for a while.

2009-2010 | Returning and Discovering Glitching

So one day I was bored at school and decided to revisit Poptropica – and I immediately fell back in love with it!

As I was playing one day, I figured out some of the keyboard commands, such as Ctrl + Shift + S which changes your skin color (only works on non-SUIs). From there, I wanted to learn more cheats, and thus began my adventures in glitching. I learned all I could, from the ASG (Avatar Studio Glitch) to the CEG (Customize Everything Glitch, now done with MAP or iPop).

One day, I learned that there were different websites dedicated to glitching, such as DummyTron and MAP. Creating dummies was a ton of fun. I also used websites like PoptropAds to teleport to various retired advertisement buildings and games.

2010–2015 | Zombie Eyes

At some point I got bored of Poptropica again, and took another break. A whole year passed before I decided to come back to Poptropica.

When I returned, I found out that most of the glitches I’d enjoyed had been patched, although some of them were still around, like the ASG.

Anyway, one day I came across the PHB’s chat hangout, the PHC, and decided to join. My first friend on there was Red Lizard, also known as RL, and my second friend was NinjaDude, or ND. I really wanted to get zombie eyes on my Poptropican, so RL, ND, and I started poking around with Poptropica’s files trying to find some way to get them. Every day, our mission seemed to get more and more hopeless – until one day, RL made our first breakthrough! He’d found a temporary way to get the zombie eyes.

Eventually, as we got more people involved in our project, we decided we would only share our findings among each other. One day, I made the final breakthrough with figuring out a way to get zombie eyes permanently. But there was this one person who kept bugging me about them, so I gave in and shared my method. Well, wouldn’t you know it, the first thing that person did was turn around and leak the secret to the world.

2015–present | The Glitching Journey Continues

Seeing all my involvement with Poptropica, my parents decided that I should take a break from it for a while. So I did, for a few months.

When I returned, the PHC had moved to a different website (Discord instead of Xat), but it was still the PHC. My friend RL had made many more breakthroughs with glitching, including figuring out how to make dummies again. And there was now a tool called iPop, developed by Santorno, which RL had pro access to (which gives a few extra options that the public access key doesn’t).

Well, back when we had been working on obtaining dummy eyes together, we’d made a pact that we would always share new discoveries with each another. So he taught me about making dummies, but I was not allowed to get the pro access to iPop.

Anyway, I continued to spend time on Discord, and we made many more breakthroughs. We discovered the developer console and used that for a while, until the password to the dev console changed one day. But that was ok; we had discovered other things, like leaks for the rumored Crisis Caverns Island, how to make custom costume parts, and how to unpatch old costume parts.

To this day, the joy of glitching continues, and we are still discovering new things. And that’s My Place in Poptropica. If you’d like to add me, my user is jellal2876534.

Hope you enjoyed this “My Place in Poptropica” story! Feel free to send in your own (please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username). If you send in your story, we will continue to post new community MPIPs!

Speaking of fun costumes, there’s yet another ad for Beauty and the Beast on Home Island in celebration of the live-action movie’s release. Check out the trailer video, and you’ll be given a Beast Transformation (for boys) or a Belle Transformation (for girls). These are both costumes with customizable parts.

Over on the Creators’ Blog, a fan illustration of Ned Noodlehead as James Bond, by @SimplyArtByAlly on Twitter, is featured in a recent post. Pretty snazzy for a nerd!

PoptropicaArt_Ned Noodlehead by Ally

In the post, they gave a shout-out to the fact that Super Power Island is one of March’s Islands of the Month (and now playable for extra credits, along with Galactic Hot Dogs) and that it’s certainly a quirky piece, but could they be featuring more #PoptropicaArt in the future? We’ll have to wait and see.

Finally, Skinny Moon (who runs all of Poptropica’s social media) has once again posted stories on Poptropica’s Snapchat/Instagram in the past couple of days.

Featured below are Toby (the Poptropica pup we all know and love), GHD drawings hanging in Skinny Moon’s office, and SM reading up on Snapchat while on Snapchat. Not pictured, but also featured a couple days ago, was a video snap of the blizzard outside SM’s window in Boston.

Check out the screenshots below (click any of the images to make them larger):

Well, that’s it for now. Thanks for reading, I’ll talk to you soon. Pop on!

🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀

24 Carrot Island, Books

The End of Dye-me

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and I have some interesting stuff to share with you all today! Be warned: Spoilers for an upcoming book ahead.

The fourth Poptropica graphic novel, The End of Time, now has a cover and synopsis, as seen on its Amazon page! Check out this whirlwind of a cover:

end of time

And behold the synopsis (there does seem to be a spoiler-y tidbit for the end of the third graphic novel, however, so tread carefully):

Following the epic penultimate conclusion of The Secret Society, Oliver, Mya, and Jorge find themselves at an impasse: The Protectors’ headquarters lie in ruins; the nefarious Octavian is nowhere to be found; and they have no idea how their tampering with the timeline of Poptropica might affect history. As our heroes band together to save the mysterious, uncharted island world and find a way home, they are reminded of crucial events from their pasts—including how they were transported to Poptropica in the first place. The trio suddenly finds itself in the heart of Poptropica, where the Protectors discover the nexus of all time and are offered the opportunity to see what their lives would be like if they could change just one thing from their pasts. But will they choose to go down these alternate paths? Filled with heart and humor, this is the breathtaking finale Poptropica fans have been waiting for.

There’s a lot to take away from this synopsis. Yes, it does seem that the fourth graphic novel, as mentioned in Mitch Krpata’s interview from way back when, will be the finale of the Poptropica graphic novel series. (At least for the foreseeable future.)

Secondly… well, it seems like there’s going to be some intriguing stuff in the finale: changing fates, a ruined society, impasses… seems like everything’s all coming to a head here, ye who are fans of the graphic novel series! Don’t forget, the fourth (and final) book will come out September 12!

As for Book 3, that’s coming up sooner: it will be out in bookstores and will start shipping (if you pre-ordered) on April 11, a little under a month away.

Book 3 spoilers ahead: The Amazon listing for Book 3, The Secret Society, now contains a couple of spreads from inside the book: pages 50-51 and 74-75 respectively (oddly enough right smack in the middle of the story). You can check them out below if you’re interested, or shield your eyes away if you don’t want to see it just yet!

Anyway, what’s your first impression on The End of Time? How are you feeling about The Secret Society? If you’re a fan of the graphic novel series, are you excited? Share your thoughts in the comments!

In other (less exciting) news, a new how-to video was recently posted on the Poptropica Creators’ YouTube channel, demonstrating how to change your Poptropican’s hair color on 24 Carrot Island. Although you may already know how to do so, here’s the video in case you either don’t know or just want to see it!

Nice Bruno Mars reference to start off the video, by the way. 😉 🥕 It was pretty inevitable.

BT out!

Call for Change: The PHB is not the only voice!

Hey everyone, it’s Perfect Sky.

Today I’d like to bring up some issues within our Poptropica community of fansites and chat servers. In all that I’m about to say, I want to emphasize supporting the multitudes of Poptropican voices out there, and remind everyone that the PHB is not the only voice in this community. And I believe we can work together to make things better.

phb voice

The only server in the community?

Ah, the Poptropica Help Chat. While it’s fun to chat on there most of the time, it seems that other, smaller chat servers with Poptropicans in them have fallen off the wayside. These other servers that were once very active now remain quiet. But guys, the PHC is not the only Discord server in the Poptropica community. Let’s start talking on smaller servers so people can have a wide variety of places to chat.

Although it makes sense that the most popular chat server with the largest list of members will be the most active, there’s no reason why other places can’t have a chance to thrive, too. It makes no sense to join smaller servers with no intent of participating in conversation there as well. Having many decently active servers provides a place for several different discussions at a time, making it easier to find a topic that suits your interest. Not to mention, this gives more others a chance at having a staff position – if not on the PHC, then on another Poptropica chat that they enjoy.

Please, let’s tone down the PHB “worship”

The PHB is an amazing blog, there’s no doubt about that. Many people seem to value any content from the PHB at the same level, if not more, than the Poptropica Creators’ Blog itself. But the flipside to this is that smaller blogs aren’t getting the attention they deserve. Often, any positive comment towards smaller blogs includes a comparison to the PHB, such as “Your blog is the best, besides the PHB.” I get where you’re coming from with that – and it is a privilege for the PHB to provide content that gets enjoyed – but let’s be a little more gracious to our fellow Poptropicans, alright?

But this ‘worshipping’ doesn’t end there! For some, Poptropica blogging has become a competitive race to see who can make it onto the PHB first, and that’s not how it should be. Many smaller bloggers never feel quite ‘good enough’ when skills are primarily judged by the number of guest posts someone has written for the PHB, and becoming a PHB author, of course.

And anyone who’s ever attended a PHC party and a non-PHC Pop party has probably noticed the difference in attendance. Now, it makes total sense that the blog with the largest following would have more people show up to these events, but hey, let’s support our fellow non-PHB Poptropicans’ events, too. Let’s engage in conversations on other servers, be listeners and appreciators, and focus on building a diverse community that spans many more sites beyond the PHB network. After all, are we just the PHB community, or are we the wider Poptropica community?

Everyone deserves a voice – so support those other voices!

I remember logging onto Discord one Saturday afternoon in October to chat on the PHC, when I noticed someone repeatedly tagging a PHB author with a Pop-related question. As the author was idle at the time, this person received no response, so I decided to answer their question for them. But after answering five times, I gave up when I realized they wouldn’t listen until a PHB author responded.

Several other people have experienced similar situations in which a PHB author’s voice was favored over that of another member of the community. And, skipping ahead a couple months, after having been invited to join the PHB, I began to receive that kind of attention myself: somehow, becoming a PHB staffer had elevated my authority in Poptropica knowledge. Which is an understandable train of thought, but ultimately a mistaken one: a person does not need to be a PHB author to give good insight on all matters of Poptropica. So let’s listen to the other voices.

If we work together, we can bridge the gaps of inequality, and once again make the PHC a fun place to hang out and make friends. This community is for Poptropica after all. And that includes every Poptropican.

It’s not a competition to see who gets on the PHB first. Please remember, just because someone works on the PHB doesn’t make them better than everyone else. Everyone deserves a voice, so let’s be engaged with every voice.

Thank you for reading. You can pop into the PHC anytime at discord.me/thephc, and be sure to look around for and participate in other Poptropicans’ chat servers and fan blogs too. There’s a whole bunch of them waiting to be discovered.
