Let’s Explain the Poptropica Iceberg! No Comment? 🧊

Good evening— or good morning depending where you live. Are you ready for Pop news? Let’s go!

Pop player KrishMortyJunior aka Krish made a video called “The Poptropica Iceberg Explained”. The 18-minute video covers each layer of the Poptropica iceberg, which details fun facts, Easter eggs, notable creators, and scrapped content relating to the game. Check it out:

There are so many facts covered in the video that you’re bound to learn something new. And we appreciate the inclusion of the PHB around the 5:44 minute mark — thanks, Krish! 🥰

In other blog-related news, it looks like we can no longer leave comments under posts on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog. We find that pretty suspicious, since fans have been calling for the Creators to update their blog, which has been silent since February. Instead of answering fans’ cries, they cut off one avenue of communication.

The Pop Creators’ Blog no longer accepts new comments.

What’s going on behind the scenes? The game still receives small updates, but the Creators don’t talk about anything outside of social media. For example, they recently shared a “Popstorm” tutorial on drawing a planet using artwork from Galactic Hot Dogs. It’s neat but nothing substantial, even with the Gatorade joke in the caption.

Poptropica is definitely in a weird state. At least fans like Krish are able to keep the game alive. If you want to talk to fellow fans, come join us over on our Discord server, the Poptropica Help Chat (for ages 13+).

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Every Poptropica Mini-quest Ranked 🗺

Islands may be Poptropica’s backbone, but mini-quests also offer fun games to play between island releases. Let’s get a closer look! 👀

As a sequel to the hour-long “I played and ranked every Poptropica island so you don’t have to…”, which recently won runner-up for Best Fan Video in our 2023 Poppies awards, veteran Poptropican Jake Miller (Neat Sun) is back with another Pop drop: ranking every* Poptropica mini-quest. Don’t worry, this one’s only 20 minutes. Check it out:

Like before, Jake used the unofficial Flashpoint download to access many of the old mini-games — more about that in our Old Islands Guide. However, not every mini-game is still playable, and some can only be explored through old fan videos (or our mini-game guides).

*Although Jake takes us through many mini-quests, including a couple on the Nintendo DS, the video misses a few newer releases from Haxe Poptropica. He also doesn’t go through the bonus quests that some classic islands had, though he suggests it could be a future video. Anyway, here’s his tier list (S-tier as best, D-tier as worst):

Cool video, Jake! It’s fun to see many of these classic games live on in memory, and at least some are still playable with Flashpoint.

Fan Comic: PoptropiCon Saga, Part 3/5 💥

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Invisible RingEnjoy!

Greetings, Poptropica fans! Invisible Ring is back, and the next post of the PoptropiCon Saga is finally ready to go.

Nearly a week of conventional madness is all covered in Parts 1 and 2, and it ends with a dramatic turn of events. Now, here come the next three issues! But first, a blurb:

The tables have turned, and an awakening of evil has come out of the shadows. It’s lights out for everything we thought we knew before. Like the Reign of Omegon, a resistance has formed, retreats have been made, and desperate changes of tactics have been set into motion.

The true boss behind the Omegon invasions is dangerous and unpredictable, and PoptropiCon is the only place to find more information about this mysterious maniac. But time is running out. The war is escalating, and the next battle threatens to be too much for the Con to hold… Prepare yourself! The fight is about to be relocated. We must be ready to leave PoptropiCon and finish the battle somewhere else!

Issue #7: The Force of E. Vile

Issue #8: The Roundabout

Issue #9: When the Storm Strikes!

…You have been warned.

To find out where the rest of the robo-battle is going, stay tuned for the next part of the PoptropiCon Saga!

Every Poptropica Island Ranked 🗺

Get ready for a whopping POP down memory lane! 💥

A veteran Poptropican named Jake Miller (Neat Sun) has taken on the massive task of playing through every* island in the history of Poptropica and ranking them on a tier list. His nostalgia trip is all recorded in an hour-long YouTube video that’s been going viral, with over 200K views in the month it’s been released. Check it out below! (Content warning: occasional coarse language for Super Power Island.)

Jake used the unofficial Flashpoint download to access the oldest islands — more about that in our Old Islands Guide. Another option for some of those islands is Poptropica’s paid Steam bundle, which he did not use, but should offer a smoother experience. And newer islands are, of course, available via the current Poptropica on desktop and mobile.

*With the exception of the few islands in Poptropica Worlds, which is no longer playable, Jake takes us through 51 islands, ranking them each on a tier list as shown below (S-tier being the best, and D-tier as the worst):

Jake considers the halfway point, around Twisted Thicket Island, to be the start of a downhill trajectory for the game, with islands generally feeling shorter and easier afterwards. At the end of the video, he shares a reflection on his Poptropica journey, as someone who grew up loving the game and who just revisited everything it has to offer:

The more complex, fun, and interesting an island is, the more enjoyable it is… We were getting masterpieces 10 islands in. Why was there change? …Poptropica has brought a lot of fun times to a lot of people… so, isn’t that enough? Can we quit making Poptropica islands now? You’d think after 51 they’d be satisfied, but we continue to see poor iteration after poor iteration… I can’t lie though, the newest version has some fun personality.

Jake Miller, “I played and ranked EVERY Poptropica Island so you don’t have to…”

Thanks for the memories, Jake! It’s fascinating to see the evolution of Poptropica islands all in one go, and to relive the depths of each island — an excellent case for the Pop community’s ongoing petition to bring the old islands back.
