PHB Sneak Peeks: Zombies, Catapults, a Cave, & More

Hey, Poptropicans!

Mighty Gamer here with another sneak peeks post. Credit goes to idk for the video and xml file, which I’ll share first, and Teen Arachnid for more mini-game sneak peeks.

Crisis Caverns

Before going on about this, there’s some new information from idk that has come to light: Crisis Caverns Island is currently cancelled. Disappointing, but at least it’s the truth.

And from here on out, let’s remember to take any unofficial sneak peeks with a grain of salt – while they may be seen in the Poptropica files, they may not always become reality in the game. With that being said, let’s try to enjoy these sneak peeks!

Here’s a new Crisis Caverns video, which is of a room called “Secret Cave”, whatever that could really mean! I love the design. What do you think?

Somewhere throughout the video, you might have seen a couple stacks of stone. I thought it looked similar to the cheese in the trash can on Shrink Ray Island. I’m sure it’s only a coincidence, but it was just a little something I noticed.

You won’t believe what’s in this xml file. Yes, yes. It’s another xml file. But this one has something interesting. As you read through it, you should find this line: “Congratulations! You have completed the Crisis Caverns Episode 1 quest.” Perhaps they were making another episodic adventure, or just using that as a template, but again, since the island is cancelled (at least for now), it doesn’t matter. 😦

Game Jam

Here are some sneak peeks for Game Jam, an unreleased mini-game mentioned in a previous PHB post. In the game, you defend yourself by using musical instruments. And as you can see, there are 5 Poptropicans at the bottom (pictured below) those of which you control.

unknown

You have to click at least twice to take out the closest light blue Zomberry in a column. For the dark purple Zomberries, you have to click about five times. But if you let the zombies get to the bottom, of course, the game will end. That’s every survival game, right? Here is a popup that will appear if you lose the game:

Zombie Catapult

In this mini-game that takes place on Zomberry Island, several zombies amble towards you, these are only a few of the many trying to attack you. You protect yourself with a single catapult… I guess it’s Catapult vs Zombies here, not Plants vs Zombies.

unknown (1)

This is the catapult. There is a conveyor belt right below it, bringing things like trash, bags, sinks, rocks, etc. to your catapult. To progress in the game, you must use those items to knock out the zombies coming at you.

But there’s a catch! You can’t see the zombies as their coming, so it makes it a lot more difficult to aim for them. Once a zombie gets to you, of course, you’ll lose and have to start over. Interesting game, right?

That’s all for this post! What do you think of it? Like or dislike? Let me know in the comments below.

See ya soon!

PHB Sneak Peeks: Crisis Caverns, Spy Island SUI, & More

Hey, Poptropicans!

Mighty Gamer coming at ya LIVE– well, no. Not live. But, I am coming at you with some more sweet sneak peeks! Let’s get this started with some Crisis Caverns, our most anticipated island!

Thanks goes to idk and Joey for the sneak peeks below.

Crisis Caverns – Main Street

Here’s an xml file to take a look at, which basically just has the island’s name, Crisis Caverns. And the island’s first scene, which is identified as “cavern1”.

And here’s an actual video of the room I was just talking about – “cavern1”, which is the Main Street. Also, looks like an arrow was added to the save button in the corner!

For more cool videos like this one here, click here to be directed to Joey‘s YouTube channel where he has videos of scenes from a Super Power SUI and more.

SUI-ifying Cancellation

idk managed to access the now-cancelled Spy Island SUI scenes, and took a video of the satellite room with the big screen for us. Maybe it’s because of Pop 2.0, or something else, but as far as we know it appears to be cancelled.

Anyway, here’s the video. You can definitely tell it’s SUI (sound-updated island) by the sound effects of jumping up and down and running.

For more cool videos like this one here, click here to be directed to idk‘s YouTube channel where he has SUI-ified scene videos of Mystery Train.

Although not on video, he has also access the SUI scenes of other islands like Super Power, Spy, Skullduggery, Vampire’s Curse, Super Villain, Zomberry, Night Watch, and Back Lot – none of which are currently SUIs, and whether their SUI status is either cancelled or still planned for the future is unknown.

Plus, here’s a messed up backdrop of Super Power for you all. 😛 Marvel in its greatness:

PHB Sneak Peeks: the Card-Carrying Gamers (and more)

Hey, Poptropicans!

Mighty Gamer here with a really cool behind-the-scenes post. Credit goes to idk for these sweet sneak peeks you are about to witness straight from the Poptropica files!

Mighty Action Force Card Game Room (whew, was that long)

Home Island will have a room dedicated to the card game from PoptropiCon, and guess what? There will even be new cards added to the deck! Here’s a super cool video of the unfinished room thus far, which you can watch by clicking here.

Also, by opening this xml file, you can find the card names and what group they belong to. Each card also has its own store card, which you can find in the html file, as well.

Utah McDiggs… the Poptropican Indiana Jones?

There’ll also be a card manager popup, which you can view here. I don’t know about you, but the idea of a new room gets me excited! Maybe this’ll be out sometime soon! Here’s the card manager:

Anywho, enough with this part. Onto some different sneakaroos…

Pearson Flashlight

There’s also the Pearson Flashlight, which you can see the Poptropican below holding. This item sure does scream Zomberry, doesn’t it? At least, it does to me. 😛

This flashlight can turn different colors, and not just 1, or 2, or 3 – but 5 colors! It can turn purple, a green…ish color, blue, white, and the default color – orange. Not half bad for a flashlight, huh?

This particular blue is my favorite out of the 5 colors, what about you? I’ll leave it to you to decide. Here are the colors. Let me know your opinion in the comments below. I’d love to hear them!

Poptropica “Bio”

At one point or another, a “bio” of sorts was being considered for our characters. I don’t know to what extent this would affect the gameplay, but we do have this photo of the short bio meant to be for our Poptropicans:

profile

Yes, we could have filled in information for our favorite food, favorite color, our pets, and hobbies. But what are “score” and “rank” for? As you can see, the rank filled in is “Greenbeak”, whatever that means. We’ll probably never know now, assuming this is an idea that was discarded.

Music Mixer

And then there’s the Music Mixer…

musicmixer

(The colored circles aren’t meant to be there, but there was a glitch.)

The music mixer… who knows what the Creators were initially thinking? As we can see, it was a tool for making music – perhaps like the machine in the Nanobots tribe room, before they came up with the current design (pictured below).

Or it could’ve been for something else, like the Jazz Cafe on Counterfeit Island. It could’ve even been for a room that never came to be. There’s no way to know for sure. Another mystery of Poptropica…

Onto the final sneakaroo!

Credit Requester

And finally, we have the credit requester…

credits request

I believe this was originally going to be for the “Account Settings” we have before the idea was abandoned. I guess this idea was an old one, because where it says “Earn free credits”, it says “Get 100 free credits for each island you solve!” – and we all know it’s been a long time since those days.

As you can see in the picture, you could send email requests to people (such as parents) asking them to buy you credits. Along with that, it gives an option to “buy credits with your credit card” (which was partially cut off).

One last thing: I’m assuming that this was considered before membership and its benefits, because why would you need to buy credits (with real money) when you can get everything for free with membership? You used to be able to, but the option was removed not long after membership became a thing.

Well, that’s all for this post! What do you think? Like or dislike? Let me know in the comments below.

PHB Sneak Peeks: Developer Rooms, Round 2

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post by glitcher TechWizard, back with more sneak peeks of developer testing rooms. Be sure to check out his first guest post for more! –SlantedFish 🐠)

Hiya guys, it’s your m8 TechWizard back again with more crazy rooms that I discovered in the behind-the-scenes world of Poptropica (how? well, that’s a secret). Man, I work too hard. You must be sick of my posts now. Are you? C’mon, be honest. Well, enough rambling, let’s get sightseeing!

Our first room is… uhh.. what’s this place? Well, it’s just a void I call the Pac-Man room. Nothing fancy here, except Pac-Man and that ominous green background… *shudders*

pacmanroom

Out next room is a collision testing room. If you like to hopelessly spam grey and orange balls, this is the place for you! You can spew out these balls to your heart’s content, and watch them interact with platforms in the space.

imonacollisioncourse

I also found yet another sound testing room – Poptropica sure loves sound testing, huh? The moon-like object here follows your cursor, and you can play some sound bytes by clicking the buttons.

What else is there? Well, here’s an input testing room that tests stuff like cursors and following movements. That eyeball sure loves to stare intensively into my soul…

That’s all for this post – maybe I’ll return for another post again!

Remember, reality’s an illusion, the universe is a hologram! Buy gold, Bye!

PHB Sneak Peeks: Unreleased Costumes, Quiz Game, & More

Hey Poptropicans, the PHB is back at it again with behind-the-scenes Poptropica findings! This post is made possible with the help of glitchers TechWizard and idk (formerly Hyper SW). Let’s begin.

First, from idk: unreleased app costumes! The costumes are: Mummy, Carnival Kid, Pirate, Parasailing, Creepy Turkey, Ring Leader, Bear Costume, Old Diving Suit, Zombie, and Scarecrow. Quite a few of these have not been seen in the game before. Others have been seen online. (*PHB reader Infinity App Nerd notes that the Mummy and Scarecrow are on the app.) Which ones do you like?

Among the files, this never-released Survival Merit Hat was also discovered. Notice the five symbols pertaining to the five episodes of Survival Island. Wonder what this could have been for!

Also, here’s a look at a Poptropica Quiz Game! Longtime PHB readers may remember when Codien briefly covered some findings of the same game years ago, then thought to be a game coming soon – but at this point, it seems more like another idea lost to time.

Our picture supplier idk compiled a couple of albums full of images from the files for this game, which you can find here and here. Here are a few of the more interesting pictures:

Plus, a couple of extra now-visible pages from The Mystical Weapons of Arturus on Astro-Knights Island have also been discovered! These last two pages of the book, which are half-covered in-game, can now be seen in full.

Here we have the idea that worthiness of the weapons comes from great strength, valor, and… an affinity for animals, because the love would bring the warrior to new levels. Say what? The other page speaks of a wizard named Borzo, whose elixir could cure heart burn, but the King and Queen were not convinced that it was legendary enough. Also, a man named Klaudius tried to… well, it ends there. Strange stories.

This interesting room was also found behind-the-scenes… what an aesthetic background.

bg

But weird rooms seem to be the specialty of another glitcher: TechWizard. Let’s see what else is new.

Something else he discovered behind-the-scenes is a projectile test room. The contents are a cannon-like object, a non-functioning cannon object, and a projectile shooter that shoots green pellets. Pressing spacebar in this room allows you to shoot dots. Think it’s cooler than Tetris Land from Tech’s last post?

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes peek – for more posts like this that have come up recently, check out the PHB sneak peeks of the Zomberry Mini-Games and Development Testing Rooms! And if you like playing around with Poptropica’s files, be sure to check out the glitching community on the PHC’s #glitchers channel for more uncovered secrets!

Stay popping, Poptropicans!
