Sneak Peeks, Steamworks Island

A moving helicopter bot!

The mystery of the thing that Binary Bard found on Steamworks Island continues. We found out one thing: it moves!! :O

A Steamworks Island mystery: It moves!

Imagine my surprise when I came across a strange-looking machine on Steamworks Island. The place is full of old gears and pulleys and things, but most of it is rusted out and hasn’t been used for years. This one looked a little different — different enough to pique my curiosity.

I don’t know what you do when you’re in an unfamiliar place and you come across some strange being that’s curled up in a defensive position, but I know what I do: I poke it. So that’s what I did.

Whoa! It moved. And there were a lot more suprises in store.

BINARY BARD

It looks like it is called a “sprocket” based on the picture title. Wonder what it does, and if it helps us. Guess we’ll find out soon enough. This is Shaggy Tornado signing off!  *salutes smartly*

Sneak Peeks

You saw it here first on Poptropica!

It’s Thursday, July 29, 2010. Yes, the time has come for Greg Heffley to present us the cover for the FIFTH installment in the popular kids’ pentalogy. Of course, you can find Greg on any of the Poptropican islands.  A wise man once said, “I should really shut up,” and I’m going to do just that. 🙂

*fangirl squeal*

Whaaaaat. Best book cover art evar? It’s not the beautiful truth, it’s not the MYSTERIOUS truth, it’s the… UGLY truth. And Greg has an egg in his hand. That’s pretty awesome. Although the book cover art has been revealed, we may have to wait some time before the actual book is released. The ugly truth is that the book comes out on November 9th, 2010 (see what I did there? :D), but fear not, fellow Poptropicans, I’m sure it will be most definitely worth the wait!

In more Poptropica-related news, the creators have presented us two more installments of Poptropica Tips and Tricks on the Creators’ Blog. Of course, these two tips/tricks (Randomizer and Dial-A-Costume) have always been available for viewing on our Cool Stuff tab under Cheat Codes. There you can also find many more Poptropica Tips and Tricks. Enjoy!

Sneak Peeks, Steamworks Island

IT’S ALIIIIIIVE!!!!!!

Well, looks like Steamworks Island isn’t far away! With all the updates talking about the Hub, it seems like a lot of Steamworks Island revolves around it. Anywho, check out the Cr3@t0Rz latest post:

I’m out, guys.

Well guys, it’s been a long, long, good run. I’m sorry to say this, but I’m leaving the Poptropica Creators Blog. I feel as if if I’m not needed or appreciated, especially since yesterday Dr. Hare and the Widow kept making fun of me. I mean, what’s so wrong about liking to wear a Jester outfit? It’s not like I’m prancing around in a pink tutu like Dr. Hare. (Yes, I saw Hare. …And let’s just say my vision isn’t 20/20 anymore.) Besides, I’m better off committing interstellar felonies, like stealing princesses (fun fun fun!), attacking innocent people, you know, that type of thing. So, asta la vista.

THE BINARY BARD

I kid, I kid. The real post is:

The Hub started life as all of Poptropica does, as a simple idea and a sketch. Before long, we take that idea and turn it into reality. But did you know how many different revisions a single scene takes before it gets the Poptropica stamp of approval?

At first glance, this might look like a well developed scene.

But look a little more closely. Why is almost everything the same color? Why does it all look so flat? And what the heck is that blue thing on the right, anyway?

No, the Hub isn’t done yet. Not even close.

There’s a special treat coming tomorrow for Poptropica Members: a special Steamworks-related mystery item!

All will be revealed tomorrow. What could it be? The suspense is killing me!

…fortunately, I am well versed in suspenders.

COMIC KID

Wonder what it is? A teaser trailer and a costume like last time? Or maybe its something different. I guess you LUCKY members get to find out tomorrow! Catch ya later dudes! (And dudettes! xD)

*Vanishes with a wisp of smoke*

Hijuyo posting:

Again thanks to Adiboy101, we’ve uncovered another Poptropica Creator! Jennifer Wood is the Managing Editor at Poptropica, according to her LinkedIn profile. Surprisingly, there are no females on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog.

Also, we believe that the other Creator we recently uncoveredMitch Krpata – is Hades on the PCB. Why? Looking at the Poptropica Assets website, you can find that the Bolas Plant SWF for Steamworks Island was posted by [email protected] – and on the PCB, the same animation was posted by Hades. 😀

Yes, we stalk. ;D

Bubble gum blast!

The rules of the school on Big Nate island are uncool, so the creators assure us you can safely blow buuble gum without going to detention. To celebrate this, the creators have a multi party WITH BUBBLE GUM EVERYWHERE!!! 😀

Bubblegum party!

Remember that cool bubblegum we released to the Poptropica Store a few weeks ago?
Or maybe the hot bubblegum?

Or the free bubblegum?

Well, the creators decided to get together in a Multiverse room for a bubblegum party! As you can see, things got a little out of control.

Why not throw your own bubblegum party in a common room or Multiverse room?

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

As you can see, the grumpy old pirate who we all love to NOMNOMNOM is more devoted to taking over Skullduggery than battling players, cus he only has ONE STAR. 😮 Anyway, that party looks crazy fun! 😀 And you’re right, Crawfish. It does look very out of control! :O
*Green Boa blows a giant bubble and floats away in it* 😀
Hijuyo says:

With thanks to Adiboy101, we also found another Poptropica Creator’s real life identity! Mitch Krpata is an Editor of Poptropica, the game run by the company Family Education Network (FEN). His LinkedIn profile shows that he works for Poptropica, but other than that, not much is known about how he relates to Poptropica or which Creator pseudonym name he goes by. His photo there currently matches the one on his Twitter page.

Whoever he is, he probably had a blast partying with the other Creators in their Multiverse room! 😀
