Whatโs up, PHB readers? Welcome to another Poptropica Portfolio, brought to you by Fierce Flyer! (And if you like this one, do check out other portfolios we’ve featured!)
This post’s spotlight shines on Jonathan Trimble, a creative designer from Arizona, USA, who has done work for both the original Poptropica and Poptropica Worlds. Below are some designs from his Behance accountย (click to enlarge images!).
He shares images of Poptropica on computerย and mobile screens; plus, there’s a coolย style guide that shows how scenes and art, characters and avatar sets work:
Over on Poptropica Original, he’s done a lot of work with advertising, with scenes from ad buildings forย The Lego Batman Movie, ParaNorman, and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Trimble’s portfolio showcases the format of the final product for all three of the ads, as well as the format of the minigames for Lego Batman and ParaNorman.
Next up is one of the most iconic scenes in Escape from Pelican Rock Island (or all of Poptropica, for that matter): sneaking past the prison guards as you try to escape to freedom. Check out the mechanics of your character’s movements:
That’s it for the Poptropica Original side of things, but we haven’t even begun to crack the surface of Poptropica Worlds! Let’s kick things off with its most recent island, Greek Sea Odyssey. Jonathan has created some incredible backgrounds here:
Lastly, we have a ton of Poptropica Worlds avatar designs that you may have seen in the store, as well as some that haven’t made it to the game, perhaps because they’re discarded designs or will be released later. Check them out:
Hope you enjoyed this Poptropica Portfolio from Jonathan Trimble! If you’d like to see more of his work, check out his page on Behance. I’ll see you guys next time!
Hello, everyone! It’s Lucky Joker here showcasing the works of napstachill in the newest Pop Fan Artist Spotlight!
Something I find special in an artist is when they have a style that is uniquely theirsโand that is certainly the case with naps. Just by looking at their art, you can tell how distinctive it really is.
Naps mostly features the villains in their Poptropica art, but I’m not complainingโI love villain art! Check out this collection of their awesome artwork below (click to enlarge):
“copycat”
“God’s Dream”
“mordred (FLASHING IMAGE TW)”
“poptropica: ringmaster raven”
“have a good summer yall”
“dh x rr”
“Daemon Jupiter”
“a bunch of prisoners”
“oh no a spider”
“he lived”
I mean seriouslyโso awesome, right? Well, you’re in luck because you can see more of their art over on their DeviantArt page where they submit frequently!
I hope you found this look into a Poptropica fan’s artwork enjoyable. Don’t forget to check out the other artists I’ve featured here on the PHB. Plus, if you’ve made any Poptropica art of your own, don’t be afraid to share it on our DeviantArt group gallery at We-Love-Poptropica.

Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you the June recap for Community Creations! June’s theme was under the sea and the featured work is not in any particular order. Be sure to check out all the featured artists!
Another wonderful piece from this artist! The lighting is really immersive and the colors go great with the underwater setting. Do the fish really need to be prettier than me though? Anyway, the scene feels magical and the detail to Red Panda’s surroundings brings everything together. It’s cool to see artists stepping out of their comfort zones and trying new things, because that’s the only way to improve! Anyone else a Pisces? Find her DeviantArt here.
Coral Reef by Fierce Flyer
Super cool! The sketchy style and bright colors make this piece look playful and full of adventure! The quick brushstrokes remind me of ocean waves and provide a pretty decent sense of movement. The vibrant lighting makes for a cheerful mood and gives life to the plants. Fierce Flyer looks ready to explore! I kinda want more water themed islands now too, what do you guys think? Find his DeviantArt here, and of course check out his posts right here on the PHB.
Scuba Diving Purple Seagull by Purple Seagull
Very nice! The bright colors really capture your attention, but still don’t hurt the eye too much. The neon vibe is super interesting and I love Purple Seagull’s design! The scene definitely makes me want to go scuba diving! All the blue makes everything look cool and calm. Find Purple Seagull often in the comments section.
Queen Naiad by JordynGowens (AKA Gentle Dolphin)
It may not be merโMayย anymore, but this drawing still definitely fits our theme! Modeled after a mermaid costume made by It’s a Poptropica Blog, lots of thought was sure put into this character. Not only is this well drawn, but even a bit of backstory was described by the artist. The bubbles make for a simple, but still interesting background and the blue colors really pop! Find her DeviantArt here.
Poseidon Pop Worlds Style by SuperGrape1
This one is a bit simple compared to others, but still a nice drawing nonetheless! The colors are spot on, matching our beloved Greek god perfectly. And I must say, Poseidon has to be the best mascot for this month’s theme! A wonderful choice for this illustration. Who is your favorite Poptropica deity? Find her DeviantArt here.
Honorable Mentions
We were just a bit short on artwork this month compared to others, so we don’t have honorable mentions to share, but that doesn’t mean these submissions weren’t awesome! Be sure to keep sending us your creations, because we love featuring Poptropicans with such amazing talent. ๐
July: How Do I Participate?
Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what itโs about, itโs basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Worlds houses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.
If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that monthโs theme. So what is July’s theme? July’s theme isโฆ
Blogs & Fans!
July is the PHB’s anniversary month, and that means more than our annual award livestream! It’s a huge occasion, and it baffles my mind how long this site has been running. Though we’ve lost authors along the way, it’s sites like this one that keep the Poptropica fanbase thriving! The fans are what have held the game up all these years, so I think it’s time to celebrate that in Community Creations!
So, what can you submit? Draw some cool group illustrations of PHB (or other blogs) authors! Write a “Pop 5” style post about your favorite parts of your favorite blogs! Create Poptropica costumes of what you think the ultimate fan looks like! Even write songs or poems dedicated to what makes Poptropica so great. You might be wondering… is this month’s theme an excuse just to let us PHB authors get some fan art out of you guys? Well… I have the right to remain silent on that.
And for your inspiration, a major throwback:
by (Dr.) Ashley Lange, Poptropica Creator (2014)
Submitting: Comment below with a link to whatever youโve created OR share it with me (SydVC aka Spotted Dragon) on DeviantArt, Twitter, or Discord.
Results: I will feature 5 of the submissions as well as 3 honorable mentions.
Limitations: Nothing NSFW, and make sure you relate to the theme.
Due Date: I will take any entries before the end of this month. Submit as many things as youโd like!
I will always be sure to let you know I have seen your creation. Bonus points if you make a compelling description for your piece! While quality counts, Iโm mainly looking for something to simply catch my eye, so donโt be afraid to join in!
So what are you waiting for? Go make something awesome!
Hello, everyone! It’s Lucky Joker with the weekly Pop Fan Artist Spotlight, and the artist I’ll be showcasing today is the immensely talentedย CraftyPoptropican! Believe it or not, Crafty’s the very first boy to be featured in the series. ๐ Anyway, let’s get on with it!
Crafty’s art is nothing less of spectacular. His usage of colors, shading, and other effects really bring his pieces to life! Check out this collection of some his of Poptropica art below (click the images to enlarge them):

“Birthday Wishes from HS”
“Everyday is Christmas”

Hey Poptropicans, and welcome to a new series called “Pop Places IRL”! Here, you’ll be taken through a Poptropica island… but side-by-side with scenes in real life (“IRL”). You know, like the reality that exists outside of the internet?
Anyway. To kick off the series, our first tour will be of the first island that debuted on Poptropica Worlds: Crisis Caverns Island. (Check out our guide here!)
Caldera State Park, the fictional area where this island takes place, is inspired by a real-life location in Wyoming, USA: Yellowstone National Park, which is centered around North America’s largest caldera, or supervolcano. Try not to get blown up!
photo: National Park Service (nps.gov)
One of the first places you’ll find on Crisis Caverns is theย Visitor’s Center, which is full of displays about wildlife. But did you know that the design of the building is modeled after Yellowstone’sย Old Faithful Inn?
photo: Old Faithful Inn (yellowstonegate.com)
Wander a bit further and you’ll find the wax pots. They’re not very exciting on Poptropica, considering there’s no movement, but if you visit theย fountain paint pots at Yellowstone, you’ll find them constantly bubbling from the ground.
gif: fountain paint pots (ccortes182.wixsite.com)
Head right and you’ll find the termite rocks. You won’t find these in Yellowstone, but you can see mound-building termites in Africa, Australia, and South America.
photo: termite mounds in the Democratic Republic of Congo (bbc.com)
Just past the termite rocks is Old Reliable โ the name itself is inspired by Yellowstone’s most predictable geyser, Old Faithful. Poptropica’s version is hardly a showstopper, but if you wait for the eruptions IRL, Old Faithful can really blow!
gif: Old Faithful (giphy.com)
On Crisis Caverns, we get to dive into some red-hotย magma chambers. That probably wouldn’t go over so well IRL, but we can get glimpses of lavaย (magma at the surface) flowing out from underground.
This park tour wouldn’t be complete without some cute animals, and what could be grander than this great American bison in the Visitor’s Center? At Yellowstone, it’s even better: the park is home to thousands of bison that all roam freely.
gif: bison in Yellowstone (giphy.com)
The Visitor’s Center also offers a display of an elk, an animal that also roams freely at Yellowstone. Like bison, they sometimes block the traffic too. Don’t get too close, though โ they can be injurious!

And that concludes our tour of real-life Crisis Caverns!
What did you think? Have you been to Yellowstone or other national parks, and how does it compare? What other Poptropica islands resemble locations you’ve visited or hope to visit? Where would you like to go next on “Pop Places IRL”?
Thanks for joining us on this journey, and see you next time! ๐
