Super Villain Island resources, a new PHB slogan, and possibly other gaming devices!

The PHB’s written walkthrough for Super Villain Islandย (with pictures) is now available! Thanks goes to Samwow5 and Cool Bite for their help. You can access it quickly by clicking on the Super Villain Island icon in the sidebar.

We also have a video playlist for SV Island on our YouTube channel, and links to more resources such as a map on our discussion page. The island comes out for everyone on October 18 – only three weeks away. ๐Ÿ™‚

In honor of Super Villain Island, the PHB has a new header… with a new slogan! “Poptropica Help Blog: We put the POP in Poptropica.” It’s got a ring to it. ๐Ÿ˜€ And, if anyone’s wondering, the “POP” is that explosion of excitement you get when you visit the PHB. Yes, don’t deny it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wondering how Brave Flame and Young Clown from theย top 10 finishersย of the new island got those robes? Finishing the members-only bonus quest grants you a reward – in this case, theย Dream Guardianย costume!

Oh, and remember the DS game Poptropica’s going to be releasing? PHB reader Samwow5 found an article about it in French, and when translated, it mentions that besides the Nintendo DS, they might be considering “other portable gaming devices.” Hmm…

Keep Calm & Ad Lib

More big news has emerged regarding the new Poptropica books thatย Muddy Axe recently uncovered! For previous posts about the books, click here or here.

The Poptropica Mad Libs book now has a cover! You can also see it on Amazon.

Pencil Warrior‘s cover image isย now on Amazon, which features the same villain fromย this PCB sneak peekย last month, only instead of Skullduggery, the cover has a medallion saying “Time Twisted” (Time Tangled’s name before it was released).

The upcoming book Pencil Warrior appears to be a coloring book, but this 2007 article from FableVision seems to describe what we know of the plot as well. Strange that it’s only brought up now.

The new FableVision island merges Poptropicaโ€™s exploratory game play with a storyline that promotes creative expression. Under Reynoldsโ€™ creative direction, the gameโ€™s story features a virtual artist colony where a disgruntled inventor is removing all color and creativity from the island and kids come to the rescue to reverse the colorless chaos.

These books are set to release in November, so look forward to that! ๐Ÿ™‚

Poptropica Adventures on the Nintendo DS!

A couple months ago, the PHB posted about Poptropica for the Nintendo DS (see this post). And now, the Creators’ Blog finally lists the “Poptropica Adventures” DS game under Merchandise, which can be found on Amazon for $29.99 (USD)! ๐Ÿ˜€
Thanks goes to readerย matthewergc, who notified us that more information regarding the upcoming game has been released. The game’s release date is November 6, 2012, which is in another two months! Ubisoft, the DS game’s publisher, also lists the following information and pictures:

Poptropica, the most popular virtual world for kids is coming to the Nintendo DS! In Poptropica Adventures, the Poptropica museum is in ruins and needs your help! Explore three amazing Islands and find missing artifacts to help restore the museum to its former glory. Meet interesting characters, collect artifacts, solve puzzles, and play mini-games in the ultimate on-the-go Poptropica experience! Looking to stand out in a crowd? Customize the look of your avatar with new clothes, hats, hair styles, and more to show off your unique Poptropica style!

Key Features

  • Explore an Amazing Worldย โ€“ Run and jump through unique Islands based on dynamic themes. As you explore, find items that unlock new areas and open new gameplay challenges.
  • Create a Character All Your Ownย โ€“ Customize the look of your avatar with new clothes, hats, hair styles and more! Progress in the game and you can replicate the clothes of characters you meet or find new clothing and items to create your own unique style.
  • Build a Collection Like No Otherย โ€“ Find gadgets and items as you progress in the game and complete your quests. Use these items to open new areas and display them in your Poptropica Museum.

Note that they mention 3 islands, and those seem to be (according to the screenshots) Mythology, Astro-Knights, and a possible new adventure Spy Island (Poptropicaddict points out the top 3 characters on the game cover). Sounds exciting! Will you be getting this game? ๐Ÿ™‚

Cover art for Poptropica book series

Muddy Axe previously told us about the possibility of more Poptropica books, including a Mad Libs book and Poptropica Lime 1 for ages 6-7. Now we see that there are going to be books based on Astro-Knights and Skullduggery Island, and what’s more, there is cover art for the two! Cool! ๐Ÿ˜€

Astro-Knights Island (Poptropica) by Tracey West

Skullduggery Island (Poptropica)ย by Adrianne Ambrose

Both paperbacks are illustrated by MadPark Design Inc., and currently available for pre-order through Barnes & Noble for $5.39 and Amazon for $5.99 (US). They will be released on November 8, 2012.

There’s not much information about the books, but they seem to be storybooks to tell the tale of those particularly long islands. ๐Ÿ˜›

There is also going to be an activity book called Pencil Warriorย with no image available yet and the description is:

The Poptropica Field Guide to Creativity

This amazing full-color celebration of Poptropica-inspired creativity traverses the most popular Islands of Poptropica. Features 16 pages of adventure-filled activities and plenty of amazing extras.

EDIT: You can count on books than just these, because Muddy Axe tells us that Cryptids Island (Poptropica) by Max Brallier and Lunar Colony by Patrick Kinney will see the light of day in 2013. Notice that the authors’ names indicate that they are related to Poptropica publishers Jess Brallier and Jeff Kinney!

What do you think of these books and the other ones mentioned before? Think you’ll be buying any, maybe? ๐Ÿ™‚

p.s. I may be less active now that school has started, but will still be around.

Blasting off with top toy trends!

Excited for the upcoming Lunar Colony Island? The wait won’t be long now, as the Creators have announced that they are putting on the last touches. Just in time with current news, as you may have heard that NASA’s Curiosity rover has landed on Mars. As for the new Poptropica island, members will get to play first with early access.

PHB reader Muddy Axe shared with us this interesting picture from an article about Top Toy Trends of 2012:

Pictured:ย These goofy Poptropica figurines and plush toys are designed by Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney and each item unlocks extras in a dynamic online island-based gaming world built just for kids.

If you look closely, some of the toys shown are currently not out yet. (Click here for the official Poptropica toys page.) On the right, we see the unreleased keychain plushes of a black-haired boy and ginger-haired girl. Maybe we’ll see them soon.
