Cryptids Island

Is it a coincedence?

Green Boa: We interrupt ‘Cooking with Dr Hare’ for a breaking news report on Channel P.

(News music plays)

Green Boa: Our first report, we’re going out of virtuality, into reality. As Cryptids island is right in the middle of it’s member only use, things in the real world start showing signs of cryptids. We go over to our correspondent, Captain Pricklepants Crawfish, to explain it all. Mr Fishy!

Captain Crawfish X: Thanks, Greenie. My report,

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Did you hear the news? A couple weeks ago, a man in Kentucky saw a strange creature running around his farm at night. He shot and killed it, and discovered a bizarre, hairless creature with a pointed snout that walked on four legs.

Well, some people thought this might have been proof of the chupacabra — not that the man had had any bloodless goats turn up on his farm recently.

Unfortunately for monster hunters, a wildlife biologist examined the body and determined that the creature was probably a raccoon suffering from a disease that had caused all its hair to fall out. Oh well. The chupacabra may still be hiding somewhere out there!

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

Green Boa: Shame, racoons going to such desperate measures to become famous, and the Chupacabra is really shy. Anyway, join us for more news at 7:30, with The Ultimate Sleeping Pill: Shark Reveals all!, Scrambled Jersy Devil eggs, Early Poptropicans feeling ‘Outdated’, and much much more! Until then, it’s ta-ta from me. Ta-ta! Say ta-ta Mr Fishy!
(Silence…)
Green Boa: Uh, Fred, where was Mr Fishy when he gave the report?
Camera Man: Uh, Puerto Rico.
Green Boa: Uh-oh…
(In Puerto Rico…)
Captain Crawfish: Back off, dog face!
Chupacabra: Grrrrrrr!
Captain Crawfish: I’m not a goat! I’m not a chicken! I AM A FISH! ON THE NEWS THEY CALL ME MR FISHY!!!
(A dark figure rises frome the water nearby)
Nessie: Did someone say fish?!
Captain Crawfish: ๐Ÿ˜ฎ *faints*

Jeff Kinney talks about Cryptids Island

Hijuyo: Hey guys, today we’ve got big news for you Poptropicans, and to make it all the more awesome, Jeff Kinney is going to guest-star in this post with me!
Jeff: Hi Poptropicans, my name is Jeff Kinney, and I’m the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. But I also work here at Poptropica, where we’ll always bring you new islands for you to enjoy. Our latest island is called Cryptids Island.
Hijuyo: Sweet. There’s a lot of hype about that. What can you tell us about it?
Jeff: It’s all about Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, the Chupacabra, the Jersey Devil. I love these stories of legendary creatures and we think you guys are gonna love it too.
Hijuyo: Nice! When can we play it?
Jeff: On December 20th, the new island comes out for members, and then it comes out to the general public a few weeks later. I think you’re gonna love this island, and I think you’re gonna love what we have in store for 2011.
Hijuyo: 2011’s not too far away! What can we look forward to?
Jeff: Many more games and islands for you to enjoy and experience. Hope you have fun!

Well, that’s all the time Jeff has for us, but you may have picked up some very interesting things the Creators let us see in that video!

  • Jeff’s room is filled with Poptropica merchandise, including some unreleased ones! There’s also a framed picture of him next to a statue with a beard. ๐Ÿ˜›
  • Poptropica game cards! If you’re interested in those, read more about them here.
  • Poptropica wall posters! Not sure where you can get those, since Poptropica’s LTLprints store doesn’t seem to stock them.
  • Poptropica Fun Book! Maybe we’ll see these hit bookstores soon! The title suggests it might be a Poptropica activity book, with puzzles or games or whatever that can be done on paper. ๐Ÿ˜›
  • Video peeks of the upcoming Cryptids Island! Bushes trimmed to be shaped like Nessie, a hot air balloon, a sherpa campsite, and more.
  • Wild West Island! Perhaps the most interesting peek of all, this is hinted on a poster on one of the walls. This might also explain the recent Daily Pop sneak peeks.

What else do you think might be in store for Poptropica’s future?
