#PoptropicaArt Contest Winners & Halloween on Poptropica!

Heyo readers!

Some major events happened today. First of all, the winners of the #PoptropicaArt contest were announced! To reiterate the prizes from the Poptropica Creators’ Blog:

  • First place gets a six-month Poptropica membership and a bunch of Poptropica swag
  • Second place gets a three-month Poptropica membership and a bunch of Poptropica swag
  • Third place gets a one-month Poptropica membership and a bunch of Poptropica swag
  • And our honorable mentions all get a one-month Poptropica membership

And the winners are in first place: Maryann P., in second place: Crafty Poptropican, and in third place: our very own Slanted Fish:tada: Be sure to check their blog post for the Creators’ commentary!

In addition, @yuneiko_, @yazz._.minne, Tiger35767, @smileyfaceorg, Shaky Skunk, @julia_henry_la, Creepy Goose, and our very own Brave Tomato all got honorable mentions! Congratulations to all the winners!

In other news, the month of Halloween October is now in full swing, so Poptropica’s begun to celebrate! The Halloween photo booth is back, along with another Photo Booth contest starting next week. Skinny Moon has also gotten into the spoopy spooky spirit, and she’s not the only one – have you seen our Poptropicans lately? 😉

In other spooky news, there appear to be some strange glitches on Home Island affecting hair color and fashion choices. No, oh wait – apparently DJ Saturday Nite and New You lady went to the hair salon together, and even Amelia’s appearance is deliberate. My bad.

In addition to the aesthetic changes, some characters, specifically Amelia Earhart and the wheel-spinny-guy-dude, also have some new dialogue! Seems the creators favor the term “loot” over “prizes” now, and Amelia’s plugging the new Fall Fashion lineup. (Thanks to Happy Lobster for the images!)

Finally, the spooky Halloween-themed items of the Poptropica Store have been moved to the front of the card lineups for easy access! Check ’em out and deck out!

The Wheel of Nine Lives

Hey, Poptropicans!

Recently on Poptropica, the anticipated Wheel of FortunePoptropica style – was introduced!

dailySpin

You can find this luck wheel (that’s what the cool kids call it, for your information) on Home Island. Really. It’s right there. As soon as you drop in. Here, take a look for yourself. This may be a tad confusing, but you don’t click the wheel itself. Instead, see that guy to the right? Talk to him to spin the wheel and see what you win! (Thanks to Brave Dolphin for her pic!)

You can win a number of credits by spinning the wheel – 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, or 175 at a time. If you land on ‘Grand Prize!’, you’ll win one of the many Bronze Cards Poptropica has placed in the Store! A number of these are rare item cards that are being brought back for a limited amount of time (about a month, says Poptropica), while others are Gold Cards and Store Costumes being featured.

Unfortunately, some of the older (and even free) costumes have also been removed from the Store with this update. Perhaps they weren’t popular enough?

These Bronze Cards have also increased in price, but considering all the free credits you can now get just by spinning that wheel, it seems fair enough. These Bronze Card Costumes are going for at least 200 credits, some 250, 265 or 275, and the newly-added Dr. Hare costume is a whopping 500 credits. (Thanks to Hyper Gamer for the pic below – note that it may be missing a few cards)

WimpyKidFan has also created a list of all the available wheel prizes, which you can find here.

Every day is a new chance to spin again – so be sure not to miss it!

Also on Home Island is an ad for Nine Lives, a fantasy/comedy movie coming to theaters August 5. Watch the trailer video for a Cat on the Head prize – yes, it’s what it sounds like. (Thanks to Hyper Gamer for the pics and mangle745 for the tip!)

Hope you enjoyed this post, and be sure to log in every day for another chance to spin Poptropica’s Prize Wheel! What prize did you get today? Let us know in the comments!

Home Island, PoptropiCon Island

On your marks, get set, run!

Hey guys, Slip here!

hi

There’s a brand new event on Poptropica’s Home Island! It’s called Feats of Speed. You simply need to beat Speedy Sam in a race to get the prize! (Samwow5, I didn’t know you liked track and field! 😛)

feats

Once you land on Home Island, go to the left and you can easily spot Speedy Sam running on the treadmill. (He’s more fit than Samwow5! Just kidding. 😉 )

sam

Once you talk to him, he then dares you to beat him in the race to the PoptropiCon roof. The mini-game is similar to the race between you and the Cheetah Bandit in the first episode of PoptropiCon. If you need help, check out this video!

That was quick!

After you beat Speedy Sam, he will ask you to beat the world record. The default world record is 14 seconds, and the only way to receive the sneakers is to beat it! When you’re done, Speedy Sam will grant you your very own running sneakers — it’s the first time we get shoes to keep!

The sneakers work like Cheetah Bandit’s bottle cap amulet. When you move, it leaves a magic trail behind you. Cool, right?

Speedy Sam also tells us that this won’t be the last sneaker you’ll have! There will be another prize next week, so better train yourselves for the next challenge! What do you think it is?

What’s your world record? Make sure to like this post and share your world records in the comments!

PHB Sneak Peeks: Skydock and Christmas Stock

Hey folks, Cobalt here!

So, remember the sneak peeks we saw of Skydock Island? Some say it is just an extension of the Home Island, some say its just a brand new version of Home Island. Point is, there is a lot of discussion and mystery surrounding it. Hopefully today I can give you a more solid answer, despite me sometimes being liquid. 😀 Anyway, on with the post…

Thanks for these insights go to Entrippy and another anonymous ‘glitcher’ from the PHC!

We’ve seen these sneak peeks before, some on the Daily Pop, and some on the PHB’s original Skydock post. But it doesn’t hurt to look at them again with new perspective! Let’s take a look:

In its full glory, this three-places-in-one is shaped as a pirate ship. It appears to be a small hub for all of the current buildings on Home Island. The weirdest thing about all of these are the Christmas decorations. Are they planning really, really ahead, or has development on this slowed down?

This is definitely Christmas themed, which I find really odd. Hate to be a Popspiracy theorist, but I definitely think they stopped working on this. These pictures are live as of 3/28/16. Though, there is more to it than Christmas stuff, which gives me hope this’ll happen with different seasons, too.

These are just a few of the descriptions up close – you can see the full pictures on the PHB’s original Skydock post. Hopefully you can get the main idea, though. Also, the picture at the top left has an elevator, and it’s a second platform. Pretty nifty stuff! 🙂

We’ve seen snow on Home Island before, but there’s another feature that’s only shown up behind-the-scenes: the ability to throw snowballs! Kind of like Club Penguin. Now that’s cool!

Anyway folks, that about wraps this post up. Hopefully we’ll see this update soon? Reporting off,

Edit 3/30/16: The Creators have announced March Madness voting ends 3/31/16! (That was kinda self explanatory, though.) That is tomorrow, make sure to vote and if you have vote some more!

Home Island, Monkey Wrench Island

Monkey Wrench Island tour is here

Hi Gs,

Quick update to let you guys know that Poptropica has (finally) released the Monkey Wrench Island tour page! The description reads:

The Flying Ace Race is underway! But one evil pilot is about to throw a monkey wrench into your plans. To beat the Red Baroness and win the race, you’ll need to build the fastest yellow blimp in Poptropica! Get ready to take flight in a compact adventure made especially for first-time players!

Also on the tour page is an image of Amelia Earhart posing with the wrench saying, “Talk to me on the Home Island to get started!”

ameliaEarheart

Couple things to mention, first being that the official name for the race is apparently the “Flying Ace Race”. I’d also like to note that there is no mobile “Coming Soon” button or anything of that nature – just a “Play Now” button for online users. This might mean that this island will not be added to the mobile app, but we’ll see.

tourPageMWI

The page is surprisingly short, only containing a description, logo, and character picture. I’m hoping for a trailer! 🙂

TAFN.
