Coming out with fan art and Fiona’s song πŸŽ»

Hey Poptropicans! In this post: a TikTok video and fan art features with sweet jams. Plus, a hint at something big to come. Let’s pop right to it!

The Pop Creators finally made their second TikTok video after opening their account back in April. The new clip showcases the Pride costumes released this week in the store, with Diana Ross’s ’80s banger “I’m Coming Out” playing in the background. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆβœ¨

Also on their Instagram story, Poptropica shared tons of fan art! One particularly noteworthy post is happyclonetrooper’s sheet music for Fiona’s violin song from Ghost Story Island. Although she acknowledges it’s been done before, this is one melodious masterpiece that’ll never get old! 🎻 (Click to enlarge the pics below.)

In other news, Jess Brallier’s blog isn’t done with Poptropica just yet! His most recent post shares the story of selling the Big Nate series to book publishers, citing the success of Poptropica’s Big Nate Island.

At one point, Big Nate, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Poptropica’s Mystery of the Map held down three of the top five slots on the New York Times bestseller list.Β  I was the happiest publisher in the world.

Candy Crazed, Fan Art Features

Portraits from a Candy Crazed palace πŸπŸŽ©

Happy weekend, Poptropicans! We’ve got a few fun updates in this post: a video and more behind-the-scenes from the Candy Crazed Mini Quest as well as some fan art features. Let’s pop into it!

First, a small nod to the LGBTQ+ came through in the latest Creators’ Blog post, which begins, “HELLOOOOO all you guys, gals, and non-binary pals!” πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ The post includes a playthrough video of the Candy Crazed Mini Quest from Silent Frog, Poptropica’s social media voice:

“Do you think Hansel and Gretel are the villains of the story?” Silent Frog asks. As the video is part of YouTube Kids, comments are turned off there, but you can share your take in the Creators’ Blog comments!

The blog also shared some BTS (not a K-Poptropican group, but behind-the-scenes) of the making of the mini quest’s decadent designs. 🍫 Take a look at the candy palace pics below and read more about this tasty treat tower with juicy puns and alliterations on the official blog:

In other news, earlier this week, the Pop Creators shared some fan art features on their Instagram stories! Check out these peachy portraits:

That’s all for this update! Be sure to catch up below on more news, including the brand new character screen and insight into Poptropica’s origins. Keep on popping on, Poptropicans! ✌️

Contests, Fan Art Features, Store

Costume contest closed, updated store open πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈπŸ›οΈ

Howdy and hello Poptropicans! It’s Sporty Boa here dropping by with some news for you!

Poptropica’s Blog has been bustling with upcoming updates and information, but first and foremost, Poptropica’s Costume Contest for the month of June has officially closed as of 8pm PST Monday night.

The Pop creators mentioned having received a lot of creative submissions, and who knows? If you were able to submit your design in time, it may just find itself in the game as the winning entry!

I personally have a few fond flashbacks regarding these costume contests, as almost five years ago it was one of my earliest involvements with the Poptropica community!

This is actually my first ever tweet as Sporty Boa!

I got so swept up in the sweet memories that I went ahead and redrew my Legendary wizard robe costume which I plan to submit for July’s Costume Contest:

If you were also unable to submit a costume concept this month, no need to worry! Because the costume contest is monthly, stay alert for the creators announcement regarding July’s contest and get those costume creations crafted!

Speaking of creations, we have a couple cool fan art features on the gram:

Stellar pieces of artwork we got here! (I would take a few pieces of that delicious-looking cake if I could πŸ˜‹)

Additionally, Poptropica has got some updated items in the clubhouse store for you to check out. (Thanks to Capax infini for the pic!)

A few items are catching my eye as I’m always on the lookout for some interesting items to jazz up my clubhouse. (Tour coming soon!)

Well, that’s a wrap on this short and sweet news update! I’m curious to know what creative costumes you’ve submitted, or plan to submit for the Monthly Costume Contest as well as which of the updated store items you’d like to get your circular hands on!

Enjoy the day and remember to stay safe and stay awesome!

Illustrative Instagram stories and bizarre bunny memes πŸ‡

Happy beginning of hot blazing horrible weather, everyone! 🌞

Poptropica’s social media activity has been up this week, with tons of new Instagram stories, as well as an odd Twitter post recalling our dear Dr. Hare. First, let’s turn to the ‘gram…

Among the feature are highlights to the latest Poptropica store update and the nearing end to the first of the new Monthly Costume Contests.

There is also a particularly large number of shares for fan art features:

There’s some really cool art in here! Glad to see entries for the Monthly Costume Contest as well. I personally love the sharp design and dramatic color scheme of the Black Widow piece! πŸ•·

Meanwhile on Twitter, the Creators tweeted a “Feel old yet?” joke, featuring Dr. Hare and a Snapchat photo of actor Matthew Gray Gubler in pink bunny ears with the caption “I hate it here.”

Wait, what was that?

While memes can be a fun way to spread hype and provide some comedy to a community, this more obscure and random one is a bit out of character for Poptropica’s usual social media antics. Several people were quick to comment with a mix of amusement and confusion.

What do you Poptropicans think? Are there any particular artists or pieces you like from the gallery, and what do you think of this odd addition to the Twitter timeline?

Until next time (yes I do remember the Island Flash-backs, they will be returning!) stay creative, maybe by making some Poptropica memes and joining our Community Creations this month!

Trending hot, heavy, and Pop-ular πŸ¦

What’s popping, Poptropicans? We’re serving up piping hot fan art, a sweaty store update, and news of none other than our favorite game #Poptropica trending on Twitter! Let’s pop right in.

First up, get an eyeful of these steamy snapshots of fan art, from a toned and tough Binary Bard to OCs in love or in combat. Topping it all off is a jittery reminder that the Candy Crazed Mini Quest just droppedβ€”be sure to catch our mini review of it in the post below!

Time for a workout? This week’s store rotation contains new Bodybuilder costumes: one a gym bro with medium-sized weights and another with a smaller, hot pink hand weight. Go get those gains!

And now onto ever more sizzling news! Earlier this week, on Wednesday, May 26, the hashtag #Poptropica was trending on Twitter in the US. Which is rather remarkable for a game that, let’s be honest, is past its peak days and only retains a small niche following today.

It all started with a nostalgic tweet from @urfairymaid, who shared a photo with the logos of several popular kids’ virtual worlds from the late 2000s–early 2010s, like Club Penguin and Toontown Online, with a caption that read: “**** your zodiac sign / which one was your favorite.” (Contains some obscene language, but if you’re OK with that, you can see the original tweet here.)

Interestingly, Poptropica was not among the virtual worlds listed in the original tweet that went somewhat viral, with 10K retweets and 33K quote tweets. However, its lack of a mention was what then prompted many on Twitter to bring it up with the hashtag #Poptropica, garnering over 2K mentions and bringing it to the trending page for a day.

Even Poptropica’s sister site, Coolmath Games (@TheRealCoolmath) got in on the trend with a shout-out linking to the Coolmath Games site for Poptropica. Following that, Poptropica’s own Twitter (@Poptropica) retweeted Coolmath’s show of love.

So hey, congrats to Poptropica for popping off the Twitter charts for a flicker of time there! What a witness to the greatness of its past. πŸŽ‰

If you’re an oldie player who’s wondering what happened to the Poptropica you once knew, a few things: 1) Pop Protip: You can play all the old islands; 2) catch up with all that’s happened through our Poptropica Yearbook pages; and 3) join us in petitioning for the old islands back! Plus, new or old, thanks for sticking around.

No matter what, Poptropica will always be trending on the PHB! πŸ’™
