Cats and graphic novels are out of the bag!

Hey Poptropicans! 🐠

Before we get into the Poptropica news, there’s a quick announcement I’d like to make – over the next couple of days, as we prepare for something, there may be (temporary) difficulties in loading our site – if this happens, please use our poptropica.wordpress.com URL instead. Thanks for your patience!

Anyway, let’s pop in to see what’s new on Poptropica! There’s currently a new ad on Main Streets for the upcoming movie Nine Lives, and in it you can watch a trailer and play a game where you have to run away from this cat, Mr. Fuzzypants, who’s chasing you.

At the end, a cat whisperer takes care of Mr. Fuzzypants, and you’ll win a Mr. Fuzzypants Follower and Cake Toss power (press spacebar to shoot cakes on other Poptropicans). Also, after the mini-game, your Poptropican will have cat ears that only show up in the Nine Lives ad room. (Thanks to Friendly Foot for the update and Koi and Yujo for the ad pictures below!)

Over on Home Island, the Mystery of the Map Photo Booth from before has returned, this time to encourage sales instead of pre-orders! (See this PHB post for more about this Photo Booth!)

In other news, it looks like Poptropica – well, its graphic novel series at least – has a spot in the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con! (If any PHB readers are going, let us know!)

According to this publisher’s tweet, Mitch Krpata, Pop Creator and author of Poptropica: The Lost Expedition (the second Pop graphic novel after Mystery of the Map), will be at SDCC’s Booth #1216, where you can get a copy of the book before it’s officially released on August 16th.

Lastly, voting for the 2016 Poppies is now closed. Stay tuned to the PHB for details about the Poppies party and livestream, coming soon! 🙂

We bare (photo) booth bears

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and here’s yet another advertisement post! This time, once again, the trio of the Cartoon Network show We Bare Bears have come to the scene! (Thanks, WimpyKidFan, for notifying us and providing us pictures!)

wbb1

Unlike many advertisements we normally see in Poptropica, this one is a themed Photo Booth. That means just like with any other photo booth, you can save and share your completed picture!

The photo booth comes with four new backgrounds and eight new stickers, which will give those who enjoy the show plenty opportunity to enjoy composing a picture. If you want to find this photo booth, you can find it in the open ad areas on nearly any of the islands, so create away!

Oh, and if you haven’t already, nominate your picks for the 2nd annual Poppies Awards! The deadline is tomorrow, so don’t tarry!

The Wheel of Nine Lives

Hey, Poptropicans!

Recently on Poptropica, the anticipated Wheel of FortunePoptropica style – was introduced!

dailySpin

You can find this luck wheel (that’s what the cool kids call it, for your information) on Home Island. Really. It’s right there. As soon as you drop in. Here, take a look for yourself. This may be a tad confusing, but you don’t click the wheel itself. Instead, see that guy to the right? Talk to him to spin the wheel and see what you win! (Thanks to Brave Dolphin for her pic!)

You can win a number of credits by spinning the wheel – 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, or 175 at a time. If you land on ‘Grand Prize!’, you’ll win one of the many Bronze Cards Poptropica has placed in the Store! A number of these are rare item cards that are being brought back for a limited amount of time (about a month, says Poptropica), while others are Gold Cards and Store Costumes being featured.

Unfortunately, some of the older (and even free) costumes have also been removed from the Store with this update. Perhaps they weren’t popular enough?

These Bronze Cards have also increased in price, but considering all the free credits you can now get just by spinning that wheel, it seems fair enough. These Bronze Card Costumes are going for at least 200 credits, some 250, 265 or 275, and the newly-added Dr. Hare costume is a whopping 500 credits. (Thanks to Hyper Gamer for the pic below – note that it may be missing a few cards)

WimpyKidFan has also created a list of all the available wheel prizes, which you can find here.

Every day is a new chance to spin again – so be sure not to miss it!

Also on Home Island is an ad for Nine Lives, a fantasy/comedy movie coming to theaters August 5. Watch the trailer video for a Cat on the Head prize – yes, it’s what it sounds like. (Thanks to Hyper Gamer for the pics and mangle745 for the tip!)

Hope you enjoyed this post, and be sure to log in every day for another chance to spin Poptropica’s Prize Wheel! What prize did you get today? Let us know in the comments!

More Gigantic Advertising: the BFG Ad #2

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and I’m here with a new post about an advertisement on Main Street – this time, yet again, about the upcoming BFG movie!

(Thank you, Hyper Gamer, for the alert and the pictures.)

Now, before you start accusing me of being so desperate to get a post here that I copy someone else’s post, let me tell you that this is about a different BFG ad. This post will talk about the video ad. If you want to see the post about the BFG advertisement game, check out HPuterpop’s post here.

There are two videos packaged in this advertisement, and each video gives a different prize.

The left video will give you something called a “Dream Trumpet“. When you activate it and press the space bar, you’ll shoot out either a purple, yellow, or green dream orb. If you shoot it at another Poptropican, it’s basically acts like if you shot them with a paintball gun and it colors the entire character (except for the eyes and mouth) one of the three colors.

The right video will give you something called the “Stride By” power. When activated, if you press spacebar, the titular giant will walk by on the screen– although you could only see his legs.

So, with these gigantic (I’m so sorry) prizes, as well as the game advertisement, there’s no denying that The BFG is making its mark in the game- coming to theaters July 1st.

The BFG Advertisement!

Hi Gs,

Yes, this post is entirely about an ad — an ad for a movie that I personally am very excited about. I’ve read the book countless times, seen the animated movie tons — it has a great story and I’m excited to see it come to life. The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) advertisement can be found on many SUI mainstreets. I found it on Shrink Ray Island.

Upon approaching the ad, you are greeted by Sophie, who tells you that the BFG is in need of help. Entering the ad, you are near a giant tree. Sophie explains that you need to catch “good dreams” to help the Big Friendly Giant out.

The minigame is pretty simple and almost identical to the honey-pot minigame from Mythology Island. In 3 minutes, you must collect 10 “dreams”, which are scattered around the tree.

bfgF2

The prizes are the Stomp Power and the Giant Costume — the giant costume is the BFG’s design, complete with huge ears and a dream catcher. The stomp power is… actually pretty boring. Just a copy-paste power from a previous ad.

bfgF3

Overall, it was a pretty boring ad. However, the subject material is far from boring, and I hope that despite the lackluster advertising, you’ll go try out this film. It’s really promising and has an awesome story.

TAFN.
