Hey, I’m Smart Icicle! Join me and my pet, Kovy, as we explore the endless possibilities of indie animation. A little about me is that I like to draw doodles to brighten everyone’s day. I also am a former author of the PHB and run my own animation channel on YouTube called Smart Icicle Animations.

Hey everyone. It’s been a while, and I know the title of this post sounds a little intimidating. So let me explain…
My name is Smart Icicle and I’ve been part of the wonderful PHB staff team since 2021 (you can check out my Pop story to learn more). I ran the PHB’s Ask Poptropica Siri series and previously the Smart Icicle Blog. But I’ve recently realized something I must do, and it is really hard writing this without getting emotional: I am resigning from the PHB.
I know it’s sad to say goodbye. But I’ve been shocked to find my interest in Poptropica vanish. It hurts knowing that my favorite game that I’ve been playing since childhood has become something that I am no longer interested in. Also, with a sense of writer’s block leading to my blogging gap, I just feel overall that my time here is done.
I’ll be shifting gears towards another passion that I love, which is animation, specifically indie animation. I always had a fondness towards it and hope to develop this interest further, starting with my new YouTube channel, Smart Icicle Animations.
I do plan to stay on the PHC because I love seeing everyone and showing up for the Poppies (I’m still waiting for a rematch, LJ !). I wish the best of luck to Slanted Fish, LJ, and the rest of the staff.
With that, let me leave you with these cherished words that encapsulated my time here on the PHB: Don’t dwindle on dreams, instead hone in on them and turn them into reality. You never know what’s going to happen if you never try.

Why hello everyone! Welcome to another Pop-over: a Poptropica crossover with another universe. This time, we’re going back to the Roaring Twenties (and no it’s not Gatsby)!
The story of Lackadaisy takes place in the glorious town of St Louis, Missouri and is set during the 1920s. It tells the adventures of Rocky, Calvin “Freckles”, and Ivy Pepper as they try and help Mitzi May (Miss M) keep the Lackadaisy Speakeasy in business. Lackadaisy started as a webcomic and has a TV show currently in production.
Now let’s meet the characters — and their Poptropica counterparts! (You can dress like them using the Avatar Studio Glitch, aka ASG.)
Rocky is the main protagonist of Lackadaisy. He is the leader of the team to help Miss M keep the Lackadaisy Speakeasy in business. You can find Rocky playing his violin in the band for the speakeasy, creating free verse poems, and being chaotic, which usually annoys Ivy. Here is a fun clip of Rocky. You can use the ASG account: RockyASG to turn into this fun, mischievous feline on Poptropica.
Calvin “Freckles” McMurray is Rocky’s cousin. Even though Rocky can get a bit chaotic at times, Freckles is the complete opposite. Freckles is often shy and innocent but he can switch to chaotic really fast to protect the ones he cares about. You can use the ASG account FrecklesASG to turn into him.
Ivy Pepper is perky, confident, hotheaded, temperamental, romantic, only when Freckles is around, and often saucy to those who get the better of her. (credit: Lackadaisy Wiki) You can use the ASG account: IvyPepperASG to turn into her.
Mordecai Heller is the main antagonist of Lackadaisy. He is more reserved and doesn’t like it when people mess up with his plans or acts in an informal manner. He’s also a triggerman for the Marigold gang after leaving the Lackadaisy speakeasy. You can use the ASG account: MordecaiASG to dress like him.
Mitzi May, formally known as Miss M in the show, is the current owner of the Lackadaisy Speakeasy. She is often in a depressed mood, since her husband, Atlas May, the founder of the Lackadaisy speakeasy, passed away. She cares for the people around her and isn’t afraid to take in new recruits. There are rumors spreading around St. Louis that Miss M might have taken part in Atlas’s death, but it’s just a theory. You can use the ASG account: MitziMayASG to dress like her.
Finally, we have Viktor. Viktor is the bartender of the Lackadaisy Speakeasy. Besides his knowledge of liquor, he cares for the Lackadaisy Speakeasy as he wants to continue with what Atlas started. He did have a bad run-in Mordecai in the past, so we will see what lies in store for this ferocious feline. You can use the ASG account: ViktorASG to dress as him.
That’s a wrap on the Lackadaisy Pop-over! While some indie cartoons have become hits, this new show is still trying to get their spotlight. So I encourage everyone to watch the pilot and tell me your thoughts! (Note: Since it takes place during the Prohibition era, the show does contain alcohol and gun violence.) It’s also got its own theme song now you can enjoy!
Inspired by these whimsical looks? Join in on the costume-making fun with our PHB 15th Halloween Costume Contest now until October 26! 🎃
Well that’s enough of me rambling. I’ll see you all soon! 📚🧊

Hello fellow Poptropicans, and welcome back to another Halloween Costume Contest with the PHB! Cue the excitement, and most importantly the theme… The Show Must Go On! 🎪
This year, we’re looking for circus wonders, from trapeze artists to clowns, animals, and characters from carnivals in the media. And there’s one more twist: your costume must include a handheld item! ✍️

☑️ Rules ☑️
💙 Create your costumes on Poptropica! You may create as many as you like for the competition. To qualify, it needs to have a handheld item and belong in a circus.
📸 Take a screenshot. For the backdrop, we recommend either the character customization screen or the Costumizer window on PoptropiCon. Here’s how you can take a screenshot. Please crop it to focus on your costume.
⬆️ Upload your pic to the internet. You’ll need a web link for your pic to share it with us, which you can get by posting it to sites like Imgur, Discord, or Instagram. Then, comment on this post with the link.

🗺 Tips for Creating Your Costume 🗺
Make use of what you’ve got! Dig through old items or buy new store costumes to mix and match pieces together.
On PoptropiCon, use the Costumizer to snag parts from NPCs.
Try glitching with the ASG Machine (for full costumes) along with usernames from our ASG collection.
Ask Poptropica Siri is a Q&A segment here on the PHB where you, dear readers, are invited to send in your Poptropica questions to have them answered with all the wisdom you can expect from a Smart Icicle.
Hello, fellow Poptropicans! Welcome back to Ask Poptropica Siri, with a twist! In celebration of the recent Poppies Awards and the PHB’s Sweet 16, I’ve decided to make this round Poppies-themed. Let’s roll!
What’s your favorite Poppies category from your tenure as a PHB staff writer ~Magic Poptropican
This is a good question! Though I wasn’t active until 2021, I would have to say the Best Fan Art category is my favorite. I really like looking at the different art styles that the Poptropica community has, and it just blows my mind to see the masterpieces shown in the Poppies.
Other top categories I love are Best Fanfiction and, new this year, Best Animation/Animatic. I have always loved animatics, including fun ones like Gentle Dolphin’s “Who Broke the PHB’s Coffeepot?“). (Outside of Pop, EverenArt’s masterpieces comes to mind.)
This question gives me a nice nostalgia, as I reflect on joining the Pop community as a freshman coming into high school just a few years ago. I’m really grateful to have joined the PHB team because it really started my growth as a writer, and I’m happy to be part of this community.
“Time to Fly Back Home” by Bunnies-N-Bowties (Poppies 2023 winner)
There were a few nominees that I wish came in 1st place, but otherwise I would say for the most part, yes! I was also happy co-hosting the Poppies this year with fellow PHB staffer, Smart Bubbles. In previous years, I was busy with other things IRL and couldn’t participate much. Though I missed the nomination round this year, I want to say congratulations to the winners of this year’s Poppies!
What other potential nominees would you have liked to see, but didn’t happen? ~Hamburger Hamburger
Most of the winners are ones I would’ve nominated, but one missed nominee I want to give a spotlight to is “The Bizarre Lore of Poptropica” by Choopo for Best Fan Video (mild language warning). As a fan of the Theorists channels (maybe a future Pop-over 😉), I am all in for game lore! I’m curious to hear from you, where would this video place in the Poppies if it made it to the voting round?
