Lunar Colony Island

When the engines cough, and you blast off: Lunar Colony for members!

Remember to breathe because oxygen may be limited up there, but of course that’s all provided. Lunar Colony Island has been released to paid members of Poptropica, and everyone else can play a demo, but will have to wait three more weeks for their turn for the big adventure on September 6th.

The Poptropica Help Blog is working on a written walkthrough. In the meantime, our Lunar Colony Guide page does have a video from the YouTuber InsidersNetwork and is open for comment discussions where you can help each other out by asking and answering questions.

Have the time of your life in the greatest space journey ever, but come home safely!

Pinocchio on the PHC (another great place to get Poptropica help, by the way), who has already played through the new island twice, tells us that you’ll get to manually drive and land a spaceship, have an encounter with a moon rover, and be able to change your eye color (predicted here) and height from tall and small! There’s a lot to explore, so have fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

Astro-Knights Island, Merchandise, Skullduggery Island

Cover art for Poptropica book series

Muddy Axe previously told us about the possibility of more Poptropica books, including a Mad Libs book and Poptropica Lime 1 for ages 6-7. Now we see that there are going to be books based on Astro-Knights and Skullduggery Island, and what’s more, there is cover art for the two! Cool! ๐Ÿ˜€

Astro-Knights Island (Poptropica) by Tracey West

Skullduggery Island (Poptropica)ย by Adrianne Ambrose

Both paperbacks are illustrated by MadPark Design Inc., and currently available for pre-order through Barnes & Noble for $5.39 and Amazon for $5.99 (US). They will be released on November 8, 2012.

There’s not much information about the books, but they seem to be storybooks to tell the tale of those particularly long islands. ๐Ÿ˜›

There is also going to be an activity book called Pencil Warriorย with no image available yet and the description is:

The Poptropica Field Guide to Creativity

This amazing full-color celebration of Poptropica-inspired creativity traverses the most popular Islands of Poptropica. Features 16 pages of adventure-filled activities and plenty of amazing extras.

EDIT: You can count on books than just these, because Muddy Axe tells us that Cryptids Island (Poptropica) by Max Brallier and Lunar Colony by Patrick Kinney will see the light of day in 2013. Notice that the authors’ names indicate that they are related to Poptropica publishers Jess Brallier and Jeff Kinney!

What do you think of these books and the other ones mentioned before? Think you’ll be buying any, maybe? ๐Ÿ™‚

p.s. I may be less active now that school has started, but will still be around.

Lunar Colony Island, Merchandise

Blasting off with top toy trends!

Excited for the upcoming Lunar Colony Island? The wait won’t be long now, as the Creators have announced that they are putting on the last touches. Just in time with current news, as you may have heard that NASA’s Curiosity rover has landed on Mars. As for the new Poptropica island, members will get to play first with early access.

PHB reader Muddy Axe shared with us this interesting picture from an article about Top Toy Trends of 2012:

Pictured:ย These goofy Poptropica figurines and plush toys are designed by Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney and each item unlocks extras in a dynamic online island-based gaming world built just for kids.

If you look closely, some of the toys shown are currently not out yet. (Click here for the official Poptropica toys page.) On the right, we see the unreleased keychain plushes of a black-haired boy and ginger-haired girl. Maybe we’ll see them soon.

Advertisements

ParaNorman and the paranormal

There is a new advertisement game building for ParaNorman, an upcoming 3D stop-motion adventure film about aย boy who can speak with the dead and takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from an old curse.

(Thanks to SnowBall for the picture!)

The ad can be found on Main Street of islands such as Wimpy Boardwalk. Click here for a video walkthrough from Loud Shark.

Fuzzy-B provided the following description of what you need to do and a snapshot of the prizes below:

When you walk in talk to Norman. He says that he has a problem, that the dead are rising from their graves! He then says to talk to his friend Neil. After you talk to Neil you start the game. You have to click to dig holes to โ€œreturn zombies to the groundโ€ so they donโ€™t reach the archive building.

There is a maze of graves that zombies walk through, but the catch is that you can’t dig a hole in the same spot twice, so the zombies make a safe path to walk on (also zombies see holes coming and donโ€™t go that way, so dig the holes as close as you can to the zombies). Once all of the zombies are reburied you win the prizes, Special Zombie Power andย Bub Follower. Here is a photo.

Zombies, wanted dead or alive… or just undead.

Web Development

F is for Friends who do stuff together, U is for you and me…

url update

Well, I managed to renew blog.poptropicahelp.net after all, so guess we’re still sticking with that URL for the PHB. Don’t forget you can still use poptropica.wordpress.com anytime to access this blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

poptropica friends

Since Poptropica doesn’t have any new updates yet, let’s talk about Poptropica Friends!

Find Friends Now:ย Did you know that clicking “Find Friends Now” from the Add a Friend feature (the + sign) leads you to an Enchanted Forest Multiverse-type room, that isn’t actually a Multiverse? (There’s no room code.) There, you’ll find some other Poptropicans who have also clicked that button, and you might be able to make some new friends that way.

Random old man Poptropican gif (thanks Loud Shark!)

PHB Friend Finder:ย However, there’s a better way to find friends, and that’s with the PHB Friend Finder, of course! You can find it listed on the Cool Stuff page. We list interesting accounts you might want to add, and in the comments, you can find other PHB readers and share your username too!

Costume Closet: Also, recently, Poptropicans have been able to customize clothing from their friends’ costume closets, even certain handheld items their friends had in there! Note that you’ll need to be a member to save outfits to your public costume closet which can be accessed from your Friends profile.

Poptropica Help Network: Other great places to find Poptropica friends are the PHC (Poptropica Help Chat), the official PHB chatroom, and Breezy, the official PHB forum.

Also, we’ve reached 6.9 million hits! Thanks for visiting the PHB! ๐Ÿ˜€
