Advertisements, Skullduggery Island

Racing the Pirates

Racing… or erasing? The latest sneak peek from the Creators shows someone using an oversized pencil, trying to rub out Dragon Cove on Skullduggery Island. But why?

Looks like someone is attempting to rub out Poptropica as we know it. But you’re not going to let that happen, are you?

You can click the image for a better view. Even the character seems different… and the eyes aren’t on top of his head, like a regular Poptropican’s! He’s wearing orange goggles, a lab coat (?), maroon gloves and boots (wow, footwear! that’s pretty rare on Poptropica). 😛 What’s going on?

Maybe this has something to do with the Daily Pops featuring the paintings Starry Night or Water Lilies, the latter of which was vandalized, possibly by the Black Widow. Or perhaps, as PHB reader Poptropicaddict speculates, this may have something to do with the upcoming book Pencil Warrior.

Before the pirates get rubbed out, here’s a video walkthrough for the new advertisement game, Pirates: Band of Misfits, by Loud Shark. 😀

Prizes are Pirate Costume, Polly Follower, and Cannon Power. Arrr!

Super Villain Island

Lunar Colony resources and… Super Villain Island?!

First of all, all our Lunar Colony Island resources are now up and ready on the Poptropica Help Blog! The last two were already there, but the newer ones are:

With all this buzz, PHB reader Aang wants to credit Thinknoodles for the possible discovery of the next island name, which is… SUPER VILLAIN ISLAND! Dun dun dunnnn….

According to this post on the Poptropica Cheatz website, Poptropica tends to buy domain names for the names of some of their islands, such as PoptropolisGames.com or VampiresCurse.com, which all redirect to Poptropica.com. The big discovery here is that SuperVillainIsland.com also redirects to Poptropica! Try it out for yourself.

From all the recent sneak peeks about old villains making a return, and the fact that Dr. Hare wasn’t even in Lunar Colony despite his Rabbot appearing at 40 seconds in the trailer video, it seems quite likely that the next island will be all about these Super Villain[s]!

Lunar Colony Island

When the engines cough, and you blast off: Lunar Colony for members!

Remember to breathe because oxygen may be limited up there, but of course that’s all provided. Lunar Colony Island has been released to paid members of Poptropica, and everyone else can play a demo, but will have to wait three more weeks for their turn for the big adventure on September 6th.

The Poptropica Help Blog is working on a written walkthrough. In the meantime, our Lunar Colony Guide page does have a video from the YouTuber InsidersNetwork and is open for comment discussions where you can help each other out by asking and answering questions.

Have the time of your life in the greatest space journey ever, but come home safely!

Pinocchio on the PHC (another great place to get Poptropica help, by the way), who has already played through the new island twice, tells us that you’ll get to manually drive and land a spaceship, have an encounter with a moon rover, and be able to change your eye color (predicted here) and height from tall and small! There’s a lot to explore, so have fun! 🙂

Astro-Knights Island, Merchandise, Skullduggery Island

Cover art for Poptropica book series

Muddy Axe previously told us about the possibility of more Poptropica books, including a Mad Libs book and Poptropica Lime 1 for ages 6-7. Now we see that there are going to be books based on Astro-Knights and Skullduggery Island, and what’s more, there is cover art for the two! Cool! 😀

Astro-Knights Island (Poptropica) by Tracey West

Skullduggery Island (Poptropica) by Adrianne Ambrose

Both paperbacks are illustrated by MadPark Design Inc., and currently available for pre-order through Barnes & Noble for $5.39 and Amazon for $5.99 (US). They will be released on November 8, 2012.

There’s not much information about the books, but they seem to be storybooks to tell the tale of those particularly long islands. 😛

There is also going to be an activity book called Pencil Warrior with no image available yet and the description is:

The Poptropica Field Guide to Creativity

This amazing full-color celebration of Poptropica-inspired creativity traverses the most popular Islands of Poptropica. Features 16 pages of adventure-filled activities and plenty of amazing extras.

EDIT: You can count on books than just these, because Muddy Axe tells us that Cryptids Island (Poptropica) by Max Brallier and Lunar Colony by Patrick Kinney will see the light of day in 2013. Notice that the authors’ names indicate that they are related to Poptropica publishers Jess Brallier and Jeff Kinney!

What do you think of these books and the other ones mentioned before? Think you’ll be buying any, maybe? 🙂

p.s. I may be less active now that school has started, but will still be around.

Lunar Colony Island, Merchandise

Blasting off with top toy trends!

Excited for the upcoming Lunar Colony Island? The wait won’t be long now, as the Creators have announced that they are putting on the last touches. Just in time with current news, as you may have heard that NASA’s Curiosity rover has landed on Mars. As for the new Poptropica island, members will get to play first with early access.

PHB reader Muddy Axe shared with us this interesting picture from an article about Top Toy Trends of 2012:

Pictured: These goofy Poptropica figurines and plush toys are designed by Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney and each item unlocks extras in a dynamic online island-based gaming world built just for kids.

If you look closely, some of the toys shown are currently not out yet. (Click here for the official Poptropica toys page.) On the right, we see the unreleased keychain plushes of a black-haired boy and ginger-haired girl. Maybe we’ll see them soon.
