Which Poptropica character are you based on your zodiac sign?

Howdy, Poptropicans! Itโ€™s LJ and today Iโ€™d like to talk about the 12 astrology zodiac signs and the characters that I believe embody them. Letโ€™s pop right into it! (disclaimer: dates may vary depending on the source)

โ™ˆ If you were born anywhere between March 20 and April 19, you are an Aries. Aries are said to be direct and confident leaders โ€” and because he operates the infamous Sea Chicken ship and commands his very own pirate crew, I think Captain Crawfish best fits this description.

โ™‰ Next are Taurus, which are those born from April 20 to May 20. Just like Aphrodite, Taurus are known for their relaxed and loving nature, and are extremely loyal as well.

โ™Š For the people born somewhere between May 21 and June 21, you may share a lot of similar traits to the intelligent CJ from Shrink Ray Island. Geminis are usually very intellectually curious and immersed in many hobbies. It takes a really smart cookie to invent a shrink ray!

โ™‹ Elf Queen represents the Cancer sign. Cancers, born between June 22 and July 21, tend to be compassionate and caring individuals who carry a gentle demeanor. You may seem distant at times, but thatโ€™s just because you sometimes need your own space.

โ™Œ Next are the Leos. Like Flashy Florian Fosbury, youโ€™re most likely vivacious and proud. You might even come off as a diva every now and then. Leo birthdays range from July 22 to August 22.

โ™ Virgos are born anywhere between August 23 and September 22, and are often logical, systematic, and diligent just like the supercomputer Holmes. He may be the villain of Game Show Island, but really he was just misguided. No one can deny his superb coordination skills.

โ™Ž If you were born somewhere between September 23 and October 22, you belong to the Libra sign. I reckon youโ€™re a charming, intuitive, and luxurious chum just like Mr. Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory island! I mean, who else can dazzle a group of kids in their very own whimsical chocolate factory?

โ™ All hail the mighty and powerful Zeus โ€”  the representative for Scorpio! Born from October 23 to November 21, Scorpios are absolutely fearless and passionate in everything they do. Just look at how Zeus attempted to take over all of Poptropica not once, but twice! I suggest using your strengths for good instead of evil though.

โ™ For those born between November 22 and December 21, you are a Sagittarius and are most like Harold Mews. Similar to the businessman, itโ€™s likely that youโ€™re a wild and adventurous explorer type who loves to tell stories about your discoveries.

โ™‘ Next up is Capricorn as best portrayed by Oliver. Capricorn birthdays range from December 22 to January 20. Capricorns are known for their youthful and playful nature and are always ready to take on whatever steps in their way. They have a can-do attitude, optimistic outlook, and can sometimes be a little mischievous.

โ™’ All Aquarius, rise, for you share characteristics with possibly Poptropicaโ€™s most iconic character, himself โ€” Dr. Hare! People born from January 21 to February 19 are rebellious, eccentric, and unusual (in the best possible way of course) in the way they carry themselves. Keep doing you!

โ™“ And finally, Pisces! Pisces, born between February 20 and March 19, are recognized for being visionaries. They are greatly imaginative and even a little mysterious on occasion. Youโ€™re just like the brilliant engineer Nikola Tesla from Mystery Train island.

And there you have it folks โ€” the 12 zodiac signs as represented by your favorite Poptropica characters! I hope you got a kick out of this post. It was a pleasure writing it for you guys. Thank you for reading and Iโ€™ll talk to you in the next one. Pop on!

Pop Fan Artist Spotlights

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: Lucky Joker’s Poptober 2020 gallery

Howdy, Poptropicans! It’s Lucky Joker here with another sporadic installment of our Pop Fan Artist Spotlights series. The artist featured this time is… well, me! I promise I’m not self-centered. ๐Ÿ˜…

A few months ago, you may have seen a drawing challenge called Poptober โ€” a list of 31 prompts (one for each day of October) created by MaryannTheConqueror to inspire a month of Poptropica fan art. Well, I decided to take the challenge head-on. Let’s take a look and see how I did. (Click the images to enlarge them!)

For day 1 of Poptober, I wanted to kick off the spooky month by depicting a spooky island. After some thought, I ended up going with the amazing Ghost Story Island by drawing the story’s most prime trio.

For day 2’s carnival theme, I knew I wanted to draw something from Monster Carnival (because duh! lol). I could’ve drawn the fabulous Ringmaster Raven, but instead, I shared the love and picked a couple of more underrepresented characters for my piece.

Due to the ambiguity of the prompt “Game,” I spent a lot of time thinking of what I was going to draw on day 3. Ultimately, I went with drawing Poptropica’s most popular common room game, Sky Dive. Once again, I portrayed two often glossed-over characters: Amelia and Crusoe.

When I read “water” for day 4, somehow the beach from my favorite island, Mythology (Flash edition), immediately came to mind. I think I captured the theme well in this one, and I don’t compliment myself often! Poseidon (the god of the sea) and mermaids at the beach โ€” how much more water can it get? I suppose if they were underwater, hehe.

On day 5, I couldn’t help being inspired from my favorite island a second time. I drew Medusa in a lair full of her collection of stone victims, including Hercules, to bring more of that special scariness that October entails.

To my surprise, there were plenty of considerations for day 6’s “doctor” prompt. Dr. Hare, Dr. Salerno, Dr. Jupiter, and the ever-so-newly-popular Dr. Beev were all pondered upon. However, I ended up drawing Dr. Lange and a colleague in a lab trialing vaccines (kind of appropriate in these times…).

Blimp” โ€” I feel like there are an infinite amount of options for this one. Here, you can see Mystery of the Map’s Mya, Oliver, and Jorge discovering the lands of Poptropica in the iconic aircraft (along with a cameo from a certain someone with his own balloon!).

For day 8, I drew some of the crew from one of our largest adventures, Skullduggery Island, standing proudly on deck. Pretty adventure-y if you ask me!

On day 9, there was nothing else I could bring myself to draw for “forest” other than the Elf Queen and the woodland creatures surrounding the magic orb inside their shady habitation. This one was very fun to draw, as was the next one.

Day 10’s prompt wasberry.” I think everyone who participated in this challenge drew something Zomberry-related and I’m no exception. I wanted to depict a feeling that was both equally spooky and amusing, so I drew DJ Saturday Nite partying it up with a number of blueberry zombies in the karaoke bar.

It took me a little while to come to a decision for what I was going to do for day 11. The theme was “bubble” and I eventually came up with Violet Beauregarde blowing a bubble with the chewing gum Mr. Wonka warned her not to taste. Tsk tsk…

When I saw that day 12 was “sneak,” I immediately thought a scene from the classic Spy Island would be perfect. Here you see a secret agent escaping the B.A.D. guys’ captivity at the docks.

For day 13’s “night” prompt, I had originally wanted to do a piece featuring a scene from Night Watch, but instead went with two of the forty thieves burglarizing the bazaar from Arabian Nights, and I’m not mad about it.

Day 14 was a lot of fun! What I did was combine the two Poptropica space-related islands, Lunar Colony and Astro Knights (which is one of my favorites). I drew Dr. Salerno accomplishing her long devoted mission of discovering alien life on the moon by depicting her greeting a couple of the Pewter Moon aliens.

On day 15, I couldn’t not draw this trio of some of Poptropica’s most popular villains. I mean, come on. The only villain possibly more iconic than these three is Dr. Hare.

At first, I couldn’t think of anything I really wanted to draw for “beach” on day 16, but I decided to show poor unfortunate Greg Heffley standing with his empty ice cream cone at the (wimpy) boardwalk. Just his luck!

My immediate thought for day 17‘s theme “machine” was to depict something from Steamworks Island. I wanted to be a little more outside the box and stretch the theme just a little bit, though. What I came up with was Shrink Ray’s CJ meeting her future self and being rewarded the medallion for Time Tangled Island. I mean, hey, she had to use a time machine to get there, right? And check out her little robot concierge in the background!

There were so many possibilities for “pet” that I was unsure what to choose. After brainstorming through many ideas, I wound up choosing quite possibly Poptropica’s most adorable little derpy companion… the Narf! And a whole bunch of them too! RIP medallion kid.

Ship” was the prompt for day 19 and there were so many considerations! (This happens a lot, huh? Lol) Yet again, I went with a pair of characters you don’t see get very much attention in the community, and that was Beatrice and Hazel from Crisis Caverns. I can see these two ladies being a cute couple.

For day 20, I rendered up a piece of the Chthonian scaring away the mole people. I was actually quite puzzled on what I wanted to draw for this one, but I’m proud of what I chose.

I definitely knew that I wanted to take inspiration from the amazing Escape From Pelican Rock when I saw that the prompt for day 21 was “prison.” Here you see Big Tuna being provoked by Flashy Fosbury as he’s being dragged away by one of Pelican Rock’s security guards.

What better island represents the theme “wild” than Wild West? Little Miss Annie Oakley is definitely unleashing her wild side as she shows off her skills in a shooting contest. The others are quite impressed.

Day 23 was one of my favorite days of the Poptober challenge. I drew Annie and Jack in their clubhouse reading a book about old Japan for the theme “story.”

I had a lot of fun with day 24 as well! I wanted to create something super fun and exciting for the theme “music,” so I decided to draw up a couple characters from Reality TV Island rocking out on stage.

The prompt for day 25 was “past,” and I’m sure you could imagine how many different scenarios from Poptropica would work perfectly for this theme. I wanted to focus on an island (or a mini game, rather) I hadn’t highlighted before. Here you have a greeting scene from D.C. Diner, ca. 1893!

Day 26 was the total opposite of past. The theme was “future,” and below, in a dystopian time coming, Poptropicans are servants to the superior reigning robots.

Storm” was the theme given for day 27 and my mind went straight to Super Villain Island. I drew Crusher โ€” one of the inmates being held at Erewhon Prison โ€” looking disturbed by the thunder and lightning outside his cell window.

Day 28‘s theme was “costume,” which was perfect considering it was so close to Halloween. Take a look at this spooktacular costume party scene taken from the classic Haunted House special! I really like how this one turned out.

For the “hero” prompt on day 29, I drew a cutscene that used to annoy me so much when I was a kid โ€” Ned Noodlehead taking credit for “saving the day” after our Poptropicans did all the work. That darn Ned!

As Poptober began wrapping up on day 30, I was pretty worn out but determined to finish! The theme was computer, so I illustrated a tired employee, in front of his screen, working for Poptropica Worldwide Headquarters who looks pretty much like I felt at this point. Haha!

And finally, day 31 โ€” ghost. Another perfect theme for Poptober and I’m actually very fond of how this one turned out. I finished off the month with a gloomy picture of Count Bram mourning the loss of his dearly beloved Annabelle as her ghost sits beside him.

Wowie, that was a lot! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed doing this challenge. There were times I would lose motivation and fall behind, and I would get pretty bummed about it. In hindsight, I probably wouldn’t be so hard on myself, though, since it’s all in good fun. I’m just glad I have a ton of Poptropica art in my portfolio now. You can view more of my Poptropica-related work (and more) on my DeviantArt page.

Thank you all for reading. I’ll talk to you guys in the next one. Take care, stay safe, and pop on!

Mythic grind and store finds of wizards, robots, and rockstars ๐Ÿง™

Howdy, Poptropicans! Our first bit of news is that the PHBโ€™s Mythology Island Guide for the remastered version of the adventure on Haxe is now up! It’s got helpful pics to walk you through the retouched island.

You can still find our old guide, with all the parts that donโ€™t exist in the new version, by visiting the separate Mythology Island Guide (Classic).

Another week has gone by and that means another routine Pop store update!

Some items are still lingering around from last week, but there are some cool new costumes, powers, etc. that have been added as well. (items marked with a * are members only) This week’s rotation is:

  • Costumes: Chillin’ Chills, Neon Rockstar, Pretty Tough, Boho Beauty, Student Wizard, Apprentice Wizard, Dark Wizard, Wicked Wizard, Retro Robot, and Robin Hood
  • Powers: Magic Cloud Rider* and Levitation Spell Book
  • Miscellaneous: Cat Mug

Note: Some players have reported not being able to buy the wizard costumes. Hope the Pop creators fix this bug soon!

Of all of the newly added items, only one โ€” count ’em, oneโ€” is members-only! That’s pretty neat news for the majority of players. When we take the familiar items into account, 12 of 48 (25%) of the entire stock are members-exclusive. Hm, that’s not too bad either! That’s actually much better than what we’ve seen in the past, so thanks Poptropica.

That’s all for now! What do you think of this week’s store lineup? Have you played the new Mythology yet? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Thank you all for reading and I’ll talk to you in the next one. Pop on!

Quippy has arrived with bundles of friends and all things Greek

Howdy, Poptropicans! It’s Lucky Joker here, and today I’m sharing with you some modernized features and new additions to Poptropica. Let’s see what it’s all about. (Note: the following updates are for the Haxe version of Poptropica only!) This post has been updated with more content since it was published!

The friends profile, which was first introduced to the game back in 2012, has been altered to receive an “upgrade” โ€“ as the creators put it. Seems borderline plain to me, but what do you think? Take a look for yourself:

So how it functions… The left button at the top right corner with a house icon directs you to your clubhouse. To visit a friend’s place, click on the “visit” button next to the person whose house you wish to drop in on. (Note: The decorations in any of the clubhouses I go to don’t match the ones I see on my Flash account. Maybe Haxe clubhouse furniture arrangements aren’t compatible with their Flash versions?)

Regarding actual friends, there seems to be a limit on the number you can have. I don’t know what the amount is exactly, but when I tried to add more by clicking the + button, it informed me that my limit was already exceeded. I guess in all fairness, this new friends page is still in its beta mode, so it’s not a surprise it’s a little faulty. We’ll see how, or if, these features get updated in the future.

UPDATE: The Poptropica Creators made a quick video walkthrough on the friends beta, showing the current features, which are (the long awaited) changing of your character’s display name, adding friends by username (so you aren’t just friending strangers, as this narrator put it), and visiting their clubhouses. Check it out:

They also shared on the official blog that “In the official release, you’ll be able to remove friends AND you’ll be able to hang out in clubhouses together!” If all goes well, we can look forward to future Poptropica parties in clubhouses! ๐Ÿฅณ

Next, we have a follow-up on a post from yesterday. Our favorite droid, Quippy, has finally arrived (better late than never!) to Mythology Island’s (Haxe) common room โ€“ and even came appropriately attired in an ancient Greek chiton and laurel wreath.

There are 4 item cards including a Lightning Staff and Icarus costume (which are both members only), along with a Cyclops costume and Mythology Surfer outfit (available to everyone!).

Also, a new limited time bundle for the island is available for 1000 credits in the Pop store, which appears as a pop-up if you access the store through Mythology Island. The bundle includes a Greek God Growing Power, as well as Wings of the Gods and a Pet Leaf Crown. I’m quite a fan of these items, I must say โ€“ especially those wings!

UPDATE: The store itself also has an individual Greek Goddess Outfit and an Aphrodite Love Power. (Thanks PercyJackson1010!) With the special vanity mirror, when you press space bar, all the characters around you will be struck with hearts for eyes. ๐Ÿ˜

UPDATE: Check out the related video the Pop Creators made, which introduces the limited time bundle and the Quippy on Mythology Island!

So what do you think about the updates? Do you like them, is it a hard pass, or are you some where in between? I’m pretty so-so about it in whole, but I’m willing to cut the creators some slack. At least they’re listening to us more these days!

Well, that about wraps up the coverage for today. I thank you once again for reading and I’ll talk to you all in the next one. Pop on!

Colorful and warm assortments hit Poptropica’s stores and social media ๐ŸŒˆ

Howdy, Poptropicans! How are ya? It’s Lucky Joker here, and today we’ll be taking a look at this month’s member gifts, the latest updates in all of Poptropica’s stores, some social media shenanigans, and more. It’s a lot to go through, so let’s pop into it!

The three items for the paying members are: a Walkman (which is a modified, black version of the 80s Walkman from American Girl: Courtney’s Island), a slaying Rainbow Furry Jacket, and an adorable Llama Follower.

Considering the creators completely skipped over October and missed the opportunity to give us some cool, spooky-themed goodies (*ahem*), I think these items act as a bit of a payoff โ€” because this is a pretty cool bunch in my opinion. ๐Ÿ˜

Remember, if you buy a membership at any point within November, you’ll receive these awesome exclusives automatically!

Another month means another rotation of the Poptropica store selection. The current stock is made up of 15 costumes, 7 followers, 5 powers, 5 pranks, and 14 miscellaneous items (for a grand total of 46 items) โ€” 17 of which are exclusive to members. Not bad this time for the non-members! (Items marked with a * are members only; all items listed below.)

  • Costumes: Stylin’ Outfit*, Cool Outfit*, Glam Gamer Girl, Sweater Weather, Comfy Vibes, Warm Vibes, Day of the Dead (girl [designed by yours truly]), Day of the Dead (boy), Lightning Knight, Soccer Player (boy), Soccer Player (girl), Karate Master (girl), Karate Master (boy), Sky Hawk Warrior, and Xenon Trooper
  • Followers: Elephant Follower, Noodle Guy Follower*, Dolphin Follower*, Deer Follower, Charlie the Chocomonkey*, Atlantis Drone, and Mini Dr. Hare*
  • Powers: Binary Rain*, POPGUM (Cinnamon Fire Flavor), Meteor Shower*, Bobblehead*, and Electrify
  • Pranks: Sticky Notes, Sneezing Power, 8-Bit Birthday Pixel Pig Power, Inside-Out Power*, and Love Potion*
  • Miscellaneous: Party Popper* (which was a member gift back in August), Flamingo Floatie*, Watermelon Purse*, Drone Flying Follower*, Popsicles*, Hover Scooter*, Fox Mug, Unicorn Mug, Autumn Scarves, School Backpack, Notebooks, Marshmallow Roaster, Hiking Shoes, and Silly Streams

In addition, some new items (1 face and 4 body) have been dealt in the pet barn shop. They are: Round Glasses, Red Scarf, Magic Cloak, Pearl Necklace*, and Green Cloak. Only 1 (marked with *) of the 5 new items are members only, so that still leaves a good selection of cuteness, once again, to players who don’t have a membership.

Very adorable, am I right? (Of course I am.) My bunny, Clover, will totally be rocking the oversized spectacles and green cloak โ€” and I think my lizard, Ivy, will love those pearls.

If all that wasn’t enough, we’ve also been given a different array of clubhouse dรฉcor including an armoire, a funky bookcase, and a diverse variety of appealing wallpapers. Neato!

On the topic of stores, it’s been found that the new release of Mythology Island doesn’t have a Quippy store, making it the only island on the Haxe version of Poptropica to not feature the little common room droid. It may show up later though, like how it did on Time Tangled Island. I guess we’ll wait and see.

(UPDATE: Quippy has made an appearance on Haxe’s Mythology! Stay tuned for a follow-up post soon here on the PHB.)

In other news, the Poptropica Creators featured some more awesome community works of art on their Instagram story yesterday. Check ’em out below!

Also, on the Creators’ Blog, Poptropica has (hopefully) finally satisfied the fandom’s curiosity by addressing some of the questions people had regarding the game’s fate post the shutdown of Flash at the end of this year. Here’s a snippet of what they had to say (Check out their post to see the full responses):

Once Flash is no longer supported, your account will still be accessible. Your existing account will work in the Haxe version of the game too. You’ll keep your stuff and we’ll give you a mega credit bonus so you can get to shopping for anything available that wasn’t in the Flash game. For those of you who started playing Poptropica in March 2020 or later you’re already in the Haxe version!

We’re also working on how to make sure you can play all the classic islands in their original format. We know our long-term fans love the classic Poptropica they grew up with and we want to keep that going forever.

Poptropica Creators’ Blog, “โšกOh How Time Flashes Byโšก”

Another thing โ€” Short Glove, over on the Poptropica Help Chat (PHC), shared a short video demonstrating how to costumize your character on the Haxe version of Poptropica in case you wanted to know how. I know I’ve been wanting to! It’s kind of ingenious, really.

Whew, that was a lot, wasn’t it? Well that concludes this post. I thank you all for reading and I’ll talk to you in the next one. Pop on!

โ€“ Lucky Joker ๐Ÿ€

(By the way, we’ll be releasing the Q&A we (and you) did with current Poptropica CEO, Abhi Arya, soon, so stay tuned for that! He had a lot of promising responses I think many of you will be pleased to hear. ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
