Poptropicon Member Items

Soon after I posted about the upcoming Poptropicon Island, I found a new item in the files titled “Poptropicon Poster”. The button, instead of “use” or “costumize”, is print. Also, this is a Members Only poster/desktop background! (Don’t worry, non-members, we’ll post the background for everyone to download when it comes out. 😉 )

In addition, there will also be a pizza puff costume, as mentioned in my last Pop-Con post. :p

Comic Boy

Found by PHB reader Big Kid, this typo on the Creators’ Blog may reveal something about the Shark Boy mystery. As you can see in the picture below, the character we know as Comic Kid on the official blog is labelled as “Comic Boy”:

While this may just be a typo, the use of boy in the name suggests that at one time Comic Kid was supposed to be Comic Boy. That said, could Shark Boy’s sudden name change have something to do with original names? Also, could Comic Boy be the answer to the never found username of Comic Kid’s account? If you find anything, be sure to tell us in the comments. 😀

The Return of Poptropica Labs: Lands

Something familiar has popped up on the game list lately: lands. This project has been stirring, and the fact that it’s on the game list means that it will be converted to an SUI version.

When I looked into it a little more, I found a strange “hammer” item listed along with everything else. A hammer wasn’t included in the original lands, so what could it’s purpose be here? Perhaps to help build things? :p

PHB Sneak Peeks, PoptropiCon Island

PHB Sneak Peeks: PoptropiCon confirmed!

The rumored convention island is a reality! Let me explain. 😛

While doing my creepy daily check on Poptropica’s servers, I found a strange title on the list of game files titled “con1”. I checked it out, and sure enough it was what I thought — the rumored convention island. In fact, it has the same name as what we’ve been calling it, PoptropiCon Island! 😀 After toying around a bit with the file names, I finally got into the island and found these amazing scenes.

Check out Pepe’s Pizza Puffs, which was also posted as a sneak peek on the Creators’ Blog along with a look at a pizza puff costume – could that be a bonus costume for members?

Also, con1 does mean that there will be other cons, thus meaning that this will be an episodic adventure. 🙄 I don’t know about you, but I don’t like having to wait a whole month before I can continue my adventure. I honestly like a story that you can play through and complete in one sitting.

From the looks of it, your task for episode 1 of PoptropiCon Island will be to get inside the convention center, considering that all the locations in it are outside.

Now, my thoughts: I am so glad that this is happening. If you saw the pictures in the gallery above, then you definitely know why I am so excited. The attention to detail is pretty awesome, and the premise is just as neat.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this unreleased tid bit. More info about the island is coming soon. 😀

Van Buren inspiration, more fan LEGO, and the PPN story!

Van Buren inspiration

PHB reader JLBblue2003 recently discovered something about the antagonist of Survival Island — he’s based on yet another character from the classic Robin Williams movie, Jumanji. If you’ve ever seen the film, you may remember an angry hunter that chases the movie’s main characters around with a barrel shot gun and a wicked ‘stache. He bears an uncanny resemblance to Van Buren.

If that wasn’t enough, the hunter from the movie is named Van Pelt! Such resemblance. 😛

More Fan LEGO creations

Blake recently posted about a new LEGO creation made by a fan called TheFastComet, but if you check out the page of the project you’ll find even more from the set. The small rock acts a containment unit for swords! Also, check out that flag. 😛

That’s pretty neat, but if you check out Fast Comet’s other creation, Binary Bard’s Citadel, you can see how awesome LEGO Poptropica could be.

And it turns out that the original LEGO Cuusoo project from Poptropica was rejected because another project was chosen instead — a Ghostbusters project. Bah. 😛

Creators’ Blog updates

You may have noticed that two new features have been added the Creators’ Blog recently. The first is a search bar, entitled “Search the Poptropica Blog”, which they haven’t had in a long time. You can now find it right under the Poptropica Merchandise ad in the sidebar.

Underneath the search bar is a new tag cloud entitled “Popular Posts” — the most popular tags include “Books”, “Comics”, “Your Dream Island”, and “Lego Cuusoo”. Neat! 😀

How many more episodes this year?

That was the question that PHB viewer Slippery Raptor asked the Creators via their Twitter. They replied with an unsure answer, but something to think about.

First of all, we don’t really know whether the Creators meant episodes or actual islands/episodic adventures. 6 – 12 islands is a bit much considering how we’re halfway through the year already.

The original question was “How many more islands will come this year since islands will be in episodes?”. He was asking how many episodic adventures would be completely released, forming an island. But, the question can be perceived to be asking how many episodes will be released. Either way, we have something puzzling.

We know for sure that there will be in total 8 episodes from the Survival and Mission Atlantis series. That said, it still doesn’t add up to 12. Could this mean that there will be more episodic adventures in the future? I’ve theorized before that there wouldn’t be any more episodic adventures after Survival and MA, but I’m starting to have doubts. Is this a good thing? Will we ever fully return to islands?

And what’s this about unexpected tech problems? That’s sort of worrying also.

Poptropican Creators Wallpaper

Remember the Poptropican Portraits Season 1 Finale Livestream, in which I drew three out of four of creators that you guys voted the highest as Poptropicans? While that is a mouthful, I still didn’t finish the last creator, Tracey West. So, I made a speed art video on my YouTube channel so you guys can get a taste of the making of her as well.

Afterwards, I put all of the creators that I had drawn together into a cool desktop wallpaper that you can view and download below. I hope you enjoyed the livestream!

The Poptropicast?

What is the Poptropicast? I mentioned it my latest livestream, but it’d be a pain to sit through the whole thing just to find it… So, I’m going to tell you! It’s one of my many upcoming projects for the summer that I’ll be talking more about soon. This is the first of many exciting things happening! 😀

The Poptropicast is a weekly Poptropica audio podcast where I talk about certain Poptopics — for example: similarities in Poptropica villain’s plots (in fact that will be the first episode’s topic 😛 ). These episodes will last around 30 minutes long, and will come out as I said above weekly — every Wednesday.

As I also mentioned it will be an audio podcast, meaning that you can listen to it without having to look at the screen — it’s great to listen to while you’re playing Poptropica!
