Captain Crawfish’s Steamworks Island travelogue, part 3

Steamworks Island opens to everyone this week! If you’re not excited, better make sure your heart’s still beating.

During my trip to the Island, I explored all the different ways to get around. Steamworks Island has so many fun little things tucked in that it’s hard to catch them all. But this one was impossible to miss.

A giant spring! Do I even need to tell you what this does?

It bounces you a little…

And then it bounces you a lot!

After a couple of hops, you can land on this platform, throw the switch, and get back to adventuring.

…or, you can just keep bouncing away!

I made my choice, and I stand by it.

Steamworks looks pretty spiffy if you ask me… I like sparkly and bouncy things. :3

Hijuyo: …oh. Well, what did you do there?

All right, has everybody had something to eat? Checked your email? Gone to the bathroom? I want to make sure you’re all paying attention. It cost me a lot of money to have these pictures developed.

After having my fun with the nuts and bolts of Steamworks Island, next I happened upon some sort of massive, upward-blowing fan. Strange — why was this functioning was so much of the machinery on the Island was rusted and useless?

No matter. When you come across airflow like this, you’ve got to ride the slipstream.

The wind rocketed me into the air!

These things are all over the place on Steamworks Island. You can really catch some air. You can probably use them to complete the quest, too, but why rush?

In other news, Steamworks Island will be available for non-members in about six days! 😀 To build up excitement for it, Captain Crawfish from the PCB posted a travelogue of his adventures in this new land:

Believe it or not, we’re only a week away from opening Steamworks Island to everyone! During the Early Access period, I’ve ventured away from Skullduggery Island to explore the mysteries of Steamworks.

Lucky for you, I took pictures! Settle in for a vacation slideshow like you’ve never seen. And no talking until I’m done.

One of the great things about Steamworks Island is how many different ways there are to get around. You might overlook this little bit of simple machinery on first glance.

But look what happens when you stand on it and start running!

It takes you all the way up the thread of the screw.

I know there’s a mystery to solve on Steamworks Island, but I was having too much fun with this. As it turns out, that was a recurring theme of my trip.

As a follow-up to the post that the Creators made yesterday, this new post by Hades concerns the SUV that we saw being oddly driven by a dog. O_o. Weird right? Who knows why a dog would be driving an SUV? Anyways….

Four-wheel drive

Yesterday you saw an overhead shot of a vehicle from a new Poptropica Island. We’ve managed to get in a little closer to show you a more detailed picture.

Looks like fans of Poptropica have some off-roading in their future! But… what will you find off the beaten path?

Answer: A muddy road, dinosaur tracks, and who knows what else! This might be an island of horrors after all… though i can’t find a relationship between dinosaur tracks and mansions, but we’ll figure it out soon enough. And now on to…

THE SECRET POPTROPICA CHAT!
Update: Seems to have stopped working. Creators fix all the good stuff. ~.~

This interesting chat was discovered by Maroon Fire from the Poptropica Help Chat! There’s five topics to choose to go to:  Vacation Spots, Raising Teens, Keeping  Your Family Happy, Mental Health, and TV Influences. If you go into each room, you find a multi-colored room with the name of the topic in the sign!

To chat, there must be another person in the room with you. Click on the person and click the button marked chat. They you get to type in anything. Yes, I said anything! You can spam! You can swear, though it’s not advised. 😉 The catches are that you can’t use your own Poptropica character to get into the room and the characters are girls. 😐

We’ve got a sneak peek at some more development work being done on the newest Poptropica Island.

It’s a top down view, and it looks like that SUV has its top down, too! What do you suppose is happening here?
