Forgotten Islands

And now for something completely different: a new iPad/iPhone app coming soon!

Today, the Creators threw a curveball at us. There was no warning beforehand. But they decided to share this with us:

Announcing Poptropica: Forgotten Islands for iOS!

We’re thrilled to announce Poptropica: Forgotten Islands, an all-new Poptropica adventure for iOS. For the first time, Poptropica will be playable on your iPhone or iPad!

Poptropica: Forgotten Islands is an original, standalone game from our friends at Ubisoft, the same people who brought you Poptropica Adventures for Nintendo DS. It will take you on a journey to discover the secrets of Poptropica’s buried past, one artifact at a time. Explore new islands, meet new characters, and take to the skies in a powered-up blimp that gains new abilities as you play! With each new island group, you’ll uncover the hidden history of Poptropica’s forgotten islands.

Poptropica: Forgotten Islands is coming this September and will be playable on iPhones and iPads. We’ll have all the details right here!

An iPad/iPhone app game?! Forgotten Islands?! How many of you guys saw this coming? I don’t think you guys did. But the way the title is phrased…

“Forgotten Islands”. Could…. Monster Carnival… be… one of the forgotten islands in this new iPad game?! Now that I think about it, I remember that post with the looking through long forgotten ideas…

Captain Crawfish has said “You never know, I guess.” Holy cow. After years, could we finally be getting our lost island in a way? What other lost islands could we be getting in this new adventure? What themes will we explore? What does upgrading our blimps in the app do? Only one way to find out the answers: wait for the news.

BT out with this exciting news!

Grooving to Poptropica music – not just on Virus Hunter Island

Need a little help taking down those big bad viruses? The PHB’s Virus Hunter Island Guide, written by Samwow5 and complete with pictures, is available on our site!

Virus Hunter Island is the second to be released with music, sound effects, and a bigger screen (after 24 Carrot, which everyone can now play with the new features). While poking around, I found the man behind the music – Jeff Heim, Poptropica’s music composer, has been busy making music for Poptropica and has even posted some samples on Soundcloud (I hope there’s more to come!):

We’ve heard some of these tracks on 24 Carrot Island, but there’s a few in the mix that suggest Twisted Thicket will be the next to get an upgrade. Also, could the “Carnival Ride” track be an indicator for Monster Carnival Island? Either way, this new music sounds pretty awesome!

Lastly, if you’re having trouble getting scenes to load on Virus Hunter Island, the Creators suggest that you use a different web browser. (They also have more tips for using the new navigation on their blog.)

What’s your favorite Poptropica music track so far?

Go for the Pandemic Panic…

…cause Virus Hunter Island is out NOW! That’s right, now!

The PHB’s Virus Hunter Island Guide is now up! If you’re stuck, click here!

However, non-members aren’t missing out entirely – everyone can get this hazmat suit:

There will be a new prize every week during Early Access.  Anyways, I finished Virus Hunter and I saw what was the long wait about. It was very cool! And now, since they have a player map and stuff, I can see my ranking!

(Yay, number 30!) If  you look at the country/state you are from and you earned that medallion, you can see your ranking too!

To those who have finished the island, what is your ranking?

The pandemic panic is coming….

…this week! Hey guys, BT here with a piece of breaking news! In a rare weekend post from Creator Captain Crawfish, he announces the following:

We know it’s been a long time coming. We know you’ve been patient. We know we’ve promised a lot. And we’ve been working around the clock to make sure we can deliver on those promises. Now, we’re very happy to say that Early Access to Virus Hunter Island will be available this week!

It’s the biggest, wildest Poptropica adventure we’ve ever made. It’s got a bigger screen, music and sound effects, and an epic storyline. We’re very proud of Virus Hunter Island, and we can’t wait until you can play it.

We’ll let you know exactly when Virus Hunter Island is available. Keep checking back!

A lot of Poptropicans are probably sighing in relief right now. We waited four months for Virus Hunter Island, and it’s finally coming out this week! Although he doesn’t say exactly when next week, it is likely that it’ll release on Thursday, August 29, considering Poptropica tends to release their islands on a Thursday.

Anyways, the map has changed up a bit, with two of the island icons colored: Virus Hunter and 24 Carrot Island. This indicates that these islands have been affected by Poptropica’s new larger screen and soundtrack format… which means 24 Carrot Island’s new format is now available for the public! Members can now play as their own Poptropicans with the new format!

(UPDATE: The improved 24 Carrot Island is now open to everyone!)

Do you think Virus Hunter Island will be worth the wait? I hope so.

Dream Islands and Daily Pops

Hey guys, BT here. Now, first of all, you know the Create Your Dream Island where anyone kids between ages 8-12 can submit their own island ideas? Well, this is only part of the tons of entries the Creators have been receiving:

Wow, that’s a lot of entries (and a pic of Super Power Island characters Speeding Spike and Betty Jetty among them)! However, only one of these entries will become an island, but there will be finalists who will still get something for trying.

I wish I was young enough to participate… I have a great idea that’s been floating in my head for a while.

Anyways, I’ve been looking around the Daily Pops lately and I’ve been seeing a lot of strange ones (there’s a lot of these so you’ll need to click on ‘Read more’ if you want to check them out here)…
