PHB Parties

Recap: PHB’s 6th birthday party!

Hey Poptropicans! As you may know, this Poptropica Help Blog (PHB) turned six on July 26, 2014, and everyone was invited to join us on the PHC and Poptropica for a celebration! Check out the recap pics below, and a summary below that. For those who came, we hope you had a stupendous time! 😀

PHB6 recap

Over in the Multiverse rooms, we had sixth birthday balloons and other special effects like whoopee cushions, while on the Poptropica Help Chat (PHC), people could chat with fellow Poptropicans, PHC regulars and new faces, and even some PHB authors in attendance, including HPuterpop (who made the cute birthday doodle above), Samwow5 (Tough Icicle), and Slanted Fish.

Sam was also hosting a DJ station on his plug.dj where people could take turns sharing their favorite music, and HP & Flamez both made some new PHC backgrounds for the PHB’s anniversary (you can click their names to view them). The PHC was filled with lively chatter, and people had a fun time!

Even if you couldn’t make it this time, remember that the PHC is always available for you to hang out with other Poptropicans. By the way, at this time, the PHB has 12,871,122 site views! Thanks to all you readers for sticking with the PHB and we hope to continue being your Poptropica key! 🙂

Happy birthday, PHB!

By the way, check out the PHB’s History page for the story of our journey and successes!

PHB Quickie: Survival (Episode 4) Overview

Hi Gs,

As the episode we’ve all been waiting for, will it fulfill our wildest dreams or come out tainted? Let’s find out! Do be warned, however– there will be spoilers! You can check out the past overviews here.

survival4Overview

This episode is basically the climax of the story, as we finally meet the main antagonist, find out his motives, and end with a chase scene waiting to happen. For the past three episodes the villain has been unnamed, but now we learn who he is. Myron Van Buren is one of the best villains ever to be on Poptropica in my opinion; as one of the most menacing, best designed, and geniusly scripted characters, he’s earned this rank with high flying colors.

Now, as an animal lover, this episode was just gold for me. I know, it may seem strange considering that most of the animals shown in the episode are dead and hanging on walls — but for me, it’s just awesome to see the giant variety of animals drawn in Poptropica form. I honestly love the Poptropica style, and I’ve always adored when Poptropica had animals.

The episodes just keep getting better, and this one is the best out of the four, no doubt. While most people had no trouble completing it, the writing was still very clever. The premise of sneaking around a game hunter’s house with guards around every corner really creates a suspenseful environment.

As for the singular soundtrack that accompanies the quest, its amazing. While it still holds lots of suspense, it also taps into a jungle like vibe. It all fits in perfectly together and does a wonderful job.

What’s really enjoyable about this episode is the buildup for the end. Van Buren keeps hinting that he is a human hunter, but it always is just passed off as a joke. First instance, when an alligator head budges on the wall, Van Buren says he should “have *his* head, haha!” (referring to his taxidermist). At the end of the episode, it’s revealed that he really is a human hunter. Is that too far for Poptropica?

The side characters — Winston and the chef — are both menacing and original. Perhaps it’s that we’ve been out in the wilderness so long that any other human is a great character? Possibly. :p

Overall, I rank this episode 5 out of 5 stars. It’s witty, clever, suspenseful, and satisfying. I don’t know what they can do in the next episode to top it. 😀 If you’re looking for walkthroughs (both written and video), you can find them here.

New Islands, PoptropiCon Island

PoptropiCon Island announced!

Hi Gs,

This is a quick post to alert you guys that some official details for the next Poptropica island (which will again be episodic) was just posted to the Creators’ Blog. Get ready for PoptropiCon Island (although we knew about it before 😛 )! You can find some sneak peeks in the PHB’s PoptropiCon post category, and we’ll be sure to post even more in the weeks to come. Check out the sweet logo below:

Everyone is dressed up for the biggest sci-fi and fantasy convention in Poptropica. At PoptropiCon, the most important thing isn’t what you do — it’s how you look doing it!

I’m really excited for this island — it feels very Mocktropica-like. Also, looking at the description, is the main focus of the island going to be costumes & fashion? Tell me your thoughts in the comments. 😀

Atlantis Ep. 2 on iOS, costume inflation, & sticker book

Hey Poptropicans! There’s been a lot of speculation flying around the PHB recently, from Thor’s hammer and Norse mythology connections to Legendary Swords crystals and even Poptropolis shaking! But there’s also some concrete stuff happening that’s worth mentioning, so let’s take a look.

Mission Atlantis: Episode 2 now on iOS app

Mission Atlantis: Fortress of the Deep (Episode 2) is now available on Poptropica’s iOS app. If you don’t want to navigate the treacherous waters alone, check out our written walkthrough (with pictures) or use a video from our trivia page to get you past the fearsome goblin shark and more!

Price hike on sausage costumes

Both the Hot Dog and Tofu Dog costumes, released to the Poptropica Store in 2010, are currently 150 credits each. (With a few exceptions, costumes are generally 75 credits each.) I’m not sure when or why exactly their price inflated, as they’re not exactly the most glamorous costumes out there. 😛

(Speaking of the Store, the members-only Ringmaster costume which was supposed to be gone after the Early Access period of Monster Carnival Island is still here, several months later. It’s a great costume though, so hopefully it stays!) Well, at least members can get everything in the Store for free.

Sticker book is here

Also, the Poptropica Ultimate Sticker Collection book is now available, with over 1000 re-usable stickers as promised! You can get it for US$11.69 on Amazon or perhaps your local bookstore if they’re awesome enough to stock these.

In other news, don’t forget the PHB’s 6th anniversary party is this Saturday, July 26th, and we hope to see you there! More information can be found in this post. Thanks for popping by! 😀

Poptropolis Games Island

Poptropolis is shaking again!

Hey everyone! I just went onto Poptropolis Games Island and I saw the island shaking! The island may be sinking soon… once again. The map doesn’t show it shaking yet, but if or when it does, I’ll let everyone know!

I’m pretty sure the island situation will happen like last time: the island shakes for a while, then the Creators make these reports about it, then the island sinks and rises a year later. What do you think? Will Poptropolis be submerged under the sea once again only to rise yet again? Stay tuned for more reports on strange happenings as they come.
