Poptropican Meme Face Mondays: Round 17

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here.

DidIMakeThoseMemes

Yes indeed. Thank you Deadpaul. Welcome to round seventeen of PMFM (Poptropican Meme Face Mondays)!

PMFM-Round17

The lucky meme-faced Poptropicans this week are happy crab, GiantEgg, and Kaitlin! And here are the memes:

Feel free to click on the images to view them in their full glory. 😛

Also, happycrab made a wonderful meme of her Poptropican back when she submitted for one, so I figured I’d remake it with her Poptropican meme-ified.

Want your own meme face?

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most recent PMFM post (just choose the one of the list here). Be sure to follow the criteria below:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the meme face on Poptropica and keep it on for at least a week.
  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve basis, so your meme face will come after all of the ones before are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to re-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I reply to your comment mentioning “You being added to the list,” then I have seen your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will be made after each one before is made.

This completes round seventeen of meme faces. Tune in next Monday for the next Poptropican Meme Face Mondays!

What do you think about this week’s meme faces? Comment below.

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Small Fire

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Small Fire, a Poptropican since kindergarten who now enjoys playing with glitches. See the bottom of this post for details on sending in your own MPIP!

2010-2011 | Discovery

One day while I was still in kindergarten, I was playing Club Penguin on my family’s computer when my dad arrived home from work. At that time, he was a 6th grade teacher. That day, he had watched some of his students playing Poptropica in the computer lab at his school, and he thought, “Hey, my son would really like this game!” He told me about this cool website that he thought I would like: Poptropica. And like it I did!

As soon as I got on, I made an account. I didn’t know how to save my game, so I made a new account every time I played. I never beat any islands – I was only 5 at the time, so my problem solving skill were not that good. I remember wanting to play Super Power Island, but I didn’t realize that you could walk to the left to get to the prison.

Eventually, I figured out how to save an account. I created the account Abelman14, which is still my current account.

2011 – 2012 | Library & the PHB

At that time, I really hated school. I hated it so much that my parents pulled me out and started to homeschool me, but soon I was complaining that I had no friends. So, my parents brought me to a Lego club at a library. There, I saw a girl playing Poptropica on her laptop, and I naturally went over to watch. I told her about the Multiverse feature and she offered to help me beat Early Poptropica Island. That’s kind of embarrassing but it’s true.

I decided that I was hopeless at trying to beat islands without help, so I googled “Poptropica Help”. You can guess what I discovered then: the PHB! I loved the PHB, and still do. Honestly, it has helped me get through all the islands (except Timmy Failure, which I managed to beat by myself). After that I was on a roll for beating islands! I remember that Astro-Knights took me like, 2 years to beat because of the boss fight against Mordred, which is actually really hard.

2013 – 2014 | Poptropica at School

Well, I played Poptropica for the first time at school in 2013. At first, everyone was like (imagine this in a squeaky, annoying voice): “What the heck is this game?” and “This game looks stupid!”

So after that went on for like 5 minutes, I said, “If you want to know so bad, why don’t you play it for yourself?”

And so, 15 minutes later…

“Ooh ohh… why can’t I get that hair?”

“Hahahaha… I shot a cannonball into the shark’s mouth!”

After that, everyone started playing Poptropica and loved it. I introduced my friends to the PHB, because with some of the tougher islands like Steamworks, you need a little help to finish them. Eventually, though, everyone stopped playing Poptropica – including me. I stopped playing for at least a year.

Late 2015 – present | Experimenting with Glitching

I was really bored on day near the end of December, so I decided to play Poptropica again. I soon learned about the ASG (Avatar Studio Glitch), and I spent the day making awesome costumes with items I never dreamed of having!

Soon after that, the PHB released their Avatar Studio Gift, which was and is awesome! I started to submit my own ASGs to the page. I created pixelpigasg, theringmasterasg, SF#White, SF#Purple, and freememberitem1. I also contacted Red Lizard and he was a great help in teaching me some awesome glitches (not the method used for the Avatar Studio Gift, but awesome nonetheless). So that, my friends, is My Place In Poptropica.

Hope you enjoyed this “My Place in Poptropica” story! Feel free to send in your own (please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username). Look out for more community MPIPs in the future!

March Madness

March Madness and Pi Power!

Greetings Hawk-tropicans! This is Giant Hawk speaking, and today, I have some rather maddening news for you all.

In all of your minds, what was the worst thing that ever happened to Poptropica? To some, it’s the onslaught of unoriginal islands that were released recently. For others, it’s the game’s departure from Pearson Inc. But for quite a large number of people in the community, it was the idea to make sponsored islands members only.

After all this time, the Creators have not only listened, but are responding to that bit of criticism. Introducing… March Madness! (thanks to PHC user AAA for the tip)

odqkzfc

From now until the end of the month, March 31, you as a player can choose one members only sponsored island to be released for all again!

These choices, and you may have realized, are Nabooti Island, Big Nate Island, Great Pumpkin Island, Wimpy Wonderland Island, Red Dragon Island, Wimpy Boardwalk Island, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island! (By the way, courtesy of Charlie the ChocomonkeyCharlie and the Chocolate Factory Island is currently open to all for a limited time!)

To enter, simply go to any of the common rooms (or multiverse rooms) on Poptropica, click on the poster you’ll find inside, and cast your vote. Best yet, you can vote indefinitely – so choose your favorite and get to voting!

GiantHawkCommonRoomMarchMadness

Bonus points: What island’s common room am I inside for the picture above?

In other news, Pi Day is almost upon us! And Poptropica is celebrating with a not so mathematically inclined new card. Simply log on, and you’ll collect this Cream Pie Toss item power. (Special thanks to WimpyKidFan for the heads up and the pictures coming up!)

UPDATE: Poptropica commented on this post to inform us that the pie item card was not supposed to be released until Monday, March 14 (Pi Day – 3/14). But hey, if you have it sooner, enjoy it! 😋

With it equipped, simply press spacebar to unleash your creamy vengeance upon Poptropica!

So, I can already tell you, my votes will be going towards Red Dragon Island – because honestly, I want to do cool ninja stuff again. But what about you? What island will get your support this month?

Until next time…

— Giant Hawk

Advertisements, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island, Monkey Wrench Island

The Road Chip begins, Chocomonkeys, Charlie open to all!

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with another bit of Poptropican ne- WHAT AM I DOING?! No, seriously! WHAT. AM. I. DOING. Here I am again, having to suffer through another Chipmunk movie! WHO ASKED FOR THIS? So yes, there’s currently an ad for the DVD release of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip! Because EVERYONE wanted this movie… *sigh*

Hang on… What’s this, I disappeared for a month without any explanation, and now someone else has already reviewed the ad that plagues my very existence? Alright, guess I’ll just have to announce the next monkey then… (Thanks to UiPE for the pic!)

charlie

The newest monkey follower to join the pack is Charlie the Chocomonkey! Look at this guy! He’s like a little Oompa-Loompa, how cute! Pick this guy up on the Main Street of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island, right next to Wonka’s factory! And then he’ll follow you. Forever. Always waiting.

Because of the beloved Chocomonkey, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island is currently not marked as being members only. This means (as confirmed by Poptropica) non-members can currently play the island! This is only supposed to be for a limited time, and we’re not sure how long this will go for, so get going before it becomes members only again!

Well, that’s that! See you later, and as always, stay popping, Poptropicans!

Graphic Novels

MotM Q&A and book launch on Periscope!

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here with a recap of today’s events Poptropica broadcasted on Periscope, Twitter’s video counterpart!

The Q&A with Jeff Kinney livestream for the Mystery of the Map graphic novel was on at 3pm EST today and lasted about half an hour, with intermittent breaks as they were figuring things out. Jeff Kinney answered multiple questions sent in from online, and Poptropica’s community liaison, Jessica (Skinny Moon), asked all the questions. You can check out Part 1 here and Part 2 here!

Similarly, the book launch party was live streamed from Jeff’s bookstore in Plainsville, MA on Poptropica’s Periscope. The event hosted not only Jeff Kinney, but also Mystery of the Map illustrator Kory Merritt. This event was about an hour long, and you can check it out here!

As a prelude to the two events, Jessica also filmed a short Behind the Scenes clip from the Poptropica HQ, which you can check out right here.

Also, shoutout to PHC-er Striped Lizard for attending the book launch event and sharing about it on the PHC (the PHB chat)! She got to share her island idea and art with Jeff Kinney, which is super cool!

Enjoy the Periscope peeks! 👀
