Pop 5: Bizarre Items You Forgot Existed in Poptropica!

Wihi folks,

Wow, that was a long title. Anyway, I was browsing through my inventory, when I saw some items I forgot even existed, so I rounded the top five most bizarre, and showed some people on the PHC, and every single person I showed had no idea they existed, so here I bring you Five Bizarre Items You Forgot Existed in Poptropica!

5. Booga Sha–man, that existed?

So, I’m sure you played Shark Tooth. There was a time you could obtain the Medicine Man’s costume as an item card. It’s funny, the character is shirtless, yet when you customize the shirt, it has to be his skin pigment, yellow. Anyway, this funny guy came from the Booga Shaman toy.

4. Some serious beef!

Screenshot at May 01 21-05-39.png

Seriously, when did this exist? Is it from a toy or something? A tiny man in a hamburger costume following me around is something I usually see in my nightmares, sheesh. This strange thing comes from the Hamburger Pocketeer, which, believe it or not, is a legitimate Poptropica toy.

3. I don’t remember this at SeaWorld…

Screenshot at May 01 21-05-18.png

Not only is there a Booga Shaman item card, you could also get an item card called Jump The Shark when you purchased the Shark Boy plush toy. Sadly, after the eradication of Shark Boy (now known as Shark Guy), Poptropica doesn’t list it in their list of toys anymore. Anyway, with this power, when you press the button anywhere in Poptropica, you can toss a fish and the Great Booga Shark will jump out and bite it.

2. Some serious UiPE & GH stuff right here!

Screenshot at May 01 21-06-34.png

On Poptropica, followers vary from dragons, to UFOs, to birds, but there exists a certain item card that allows you to have a follower of, well, yourself! Pretty gnarly, and this came from last year’s Daily Pop-In event although it was also an ad prize before that.

1. X–ruh roh, raggy?!

Screenshot at May 01 21-03-51.png

What a cool visor… where did it come from again? Oh yes, this was a members-only promo item for Virus Hunter Island given out before the island was released. Snazzy, and it comes with a power when you press spacebar too!

Well, that wraps up this top five list! Did you remember these items from Poptropica, or did you have no idea they existed? What other items do you consider worthy of this list? Let us know in the comments!

Galactic Hot Dogs Island

Credits Where Credit Is Due

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here to bring you news of what’s going on in Poptropica!

As promotion for the recent release of the newest Galactic Hot Dogs book, The Weiner Strikes Back, Poptropica is adding some new credit rewards for finishers of the aptly named Galactic Hot Dogs Island. You can read more about GHD on Funbrain.

GHDCredits

Unlike some of the former bonus credit promotions, repeat finishers can receive the bonus credits as well! The first time finishers of the island receive 300 credits (the normal 150, plus an extra bonus 150) and repeat finishers will receive 150 credits for their playthrough. These bonus credits are online available through this upcoming Monday morning (May 9), so you’d better get ’em quick.

They’ve also updated the map icon for GHD Island, which you can see below (left) in contrast with the original (right). Looks like the Neon Wiener made way for Funketoun and an excited Cosmoe!

In totally unrelated news, our friend Yujo_Jacy_the_Jumpy_Coyote has found a little bug on the Mystery of the Map Photo Booth.

HotWheelsBug

On non-SUIs (classic islands not colored on the map), the photo booths are accompanied by an unrelated NPC. According to Yujo himself, the character (as well as his dialogue) is from a former Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 advertisement.

And lastly, Poptropica creator and best-selling Wimpy Kid author, Jeff Kinney, was on Fox & Friends this morning talking about Wimpy Kid, Poptropica, and StoryArc Media. Here you can see him drawing with some kids on the show.

Fox & Friends uploaded Jeff Kinney’s part of the show to their website, so if you’d like to check out that video, click here. The video segment is kinda short, but still pretty cool to see Kinney’s drawing skills in action. 😛 Definitely check it out if you’re interested!

And that concludes this little roundup post. What do you guys think about this news? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Cool Octopus

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Cool Octopus, who, like his character, is bearded and currently college-aged. See below for details on sending in your own MPIP!

MyPlaceInPoptropica-CoolOctopus

2007 | Discovering Poptropica at Random

When I was in 4th grade, I remember being on Funbrain playing a game called Mighty Guy. I soon got tired of playing it, so I looked around the site and found an ad for Poptropica. I clicked it and created my first Poptropican, who was named Messy Sky. I explored the game for a bit, but did not complete anything. I didn’t save the account, and in a week, I had totally forgotten about it.

2009 | Re-Discovering Poptropica

A couple of years later, I was in middle school. One day in my computer class, after I had finished an assignment early, I was terribly bored. A random girl in my class told me to go play Poptropica, which shocked me as I had forgotten all about it and was only just reminded. I went back on Poptropica and saw Red Dragon Island on the map, which had not been released yet.

I forgot to save my account again, but the next day, I created another one called Cool Octopus. I managed to finish Spy Island because the girl from my class had helped me.

2010 – 2012 | Getting Help from the Pop Community

I decided to keep playing Poptropica because I was intrigued by the various interesting stories on the islands, as well as the random Easter eggs and harmless glitches I could play with in the game. When I got stuck, I usually gave up and went on the internet to find out what to do next. I remember searching “Poptropica help” on the address page of my iPod touch, which brought up the Poptropica Help Blog, so I clicked on it. As I read the blog, I was amazed by all the stories and walkthroughs I found on it, which I continued to use.

When the Poptropica Friends feature was released in 2012, I decided to get more involved with the Poptropica community. I made my first email account and created a Gravatar profile (which is used on WordPress sites like the PHB). I commented on several Poptropica blogs and even worked in one for a while, but that came to an end. I was always quite interested in getting to know others in the Pop community, getting tips and advice from other players so I could be a better player.

I also joined the PHC (Poptropica Help Chat), which was hosted on Xat before it moved to Discord. I met a lot of great Poptropica players there, including Elphangor, Pixel, Red Lizard, H.C.M, WimpyKidFan, HPuterpop, and Slanted Fish. On the PHC, people liked to share cheats and glitches for Poptropica, which was especially fun for me when I got bored with playing the game itself. My favorite glitch was the gender-changing glitch. Also, I had always wanted a beard on Poptropica, which I was finally able to obtain only through glitching. It represents the beard I have in real life, although sometimes I shave it off because it itches.

2013 – 2016 | Current Life

Well, it’s been a long time since I was the young fourth-grader who discovered Poptropica at random while bored with another game. I have now finished high school, and I’m currently in college, hoping to one day be a cartoon voice actor. But I still love Poptropica.

I also bought a Poptropica membership, because when I first started playing, I never got to have the good stuff that members got to have, and only had the free stuff to enjoy. These days, I’m not as active commenting on Poptropica blogs or chatting on the PHC. I usually just watch and read people’s posts, but I am still following what’s happening with the Poptropica community. I’m about the same age as Slanted Fish, making me one of the older ones in the community.

Something I really appreciate about the Poptropica community today is how the Creators can and will reply to your comments on Twitter. Anyway, if you’d like to add me on Pop, my username is zama-air – and if you want to see who’s on my friend list and what’s in my Store items, check out my video here!

Hope you enjoyed this “My Place in Poptropica” story! Feel free to send in your own (please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username). Look out for more community MPIPs in the future!

Blue is the new maroon – the sneaker race of the week!

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and I’m here with an update on the sneaker race of the week!

797a8-socialmedia_featsofspeed_fb_week32b252812529

Did you hear? Maroon is sooo last week! This week, Speedy Samwow has a new pair of colored shoes to offer us if we beat this week’s race and world record. This time, we are heading towards the self-aware island of Mocktropica as we scale up Mount Funshine!

If you are able to scale this test of endurance and reach the Jardine Juniper Tree in under 40 seconds, you’ll earn those good ol’ Poptropica-blue shoes!

However, despite all the flack I’ve given maroon, you still have a chance to get them – on the mobile app that is! Now, you can race Speeding Sam at the Arabian Nights lair of thieves on the Poptropica app!

So as we wait for more details on anything related to New Poptropica, at least we still have the opportunity to make “What are thooose?” jokes for just a bit longer.

BT out!

Daily Pop Sneak Peeks, Sneak Peeks, Zomberry Island

PHB Sneak Peeks: Zombie Defense Mini-Game

Whale hello there everyone! 🐳 Spotted Dragon here with a cool behind the scenes post.

Before we get started, happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you! Poptropica released this cool picture of a Poptropican-ized Kylo Ren on their Twitter today. Now the real question is, how do we get that awesome lightsaber? 🌟⚔

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Remember the PHB’s post with the sneak peeks of Zomberry mini-games, Zombie Catapult and Game Jam? The Daily Pop also hinted at these games, as you may recall:

Well, there’s another one we haven’t mentioned yet: Zombie Defense! Credit goes to idk for the info.

zombie defense

Yes, it looks like these sneak peeks are becoming a reality because what we have here is a mini-game in the making!

The zombies you see come out of the door on the bottom right and make their way up to the top left. Towards the left of the image, we can see 5 buttons for setting various booby traps. Presumably, we set traps for the zombies to stop them from reaching the end, or we just try to survive without letting them touch us.

The bar at the top shows the level and wave you’re on, along with how much health you have left. It also shows your prep time before the wave starts.

That basically wraps up what we have so far, so hopefully we can expect a Zombie Defense mini-game soon! Maybe it’ll appear in the new Poptropica? Let us know what you think! 😀
