Advertisements, Graphic Novels

Cats and graphic novels are out of the bag!

Hey Poptropicans! 🐠

Before we get into the Poptropica news, there’s a quick announcement I’d like to make – over the next couple of days, as we prepare for something, there may be (temporary) difficulties in loading our site – if this happens, please use our poptropica.wordpress.com URL instead. Thanks for your patience!

Anyway, let’s pop in to see what’s new on Poptropica! There’s currently a new ad on Main Streets for the upcoming movie Nine Lives, and in it you can watch a trailer and play a game where you have to run away from this cat, Mr. Fuzzypants, who’s chasing you.

At the end, a cat whisperer takes care of Mr. Fuzzypants, and you’ll win a Mr. Fuzzypants Follower and Cake Toss power (press spacebar to shoot cakes on other Poptropicans). Also, after the mini-game, your Poptropican will have cat ears that only show up in the Nine Lives ad room. (Thanks to Friendly Foot for the update and Koi and Yujo for the ad pictures below!)

Over on Home Island, the Mystery of the Map Photo Booth from before has returned, this time to encourage sales instead of pre-orders! (See this PHB post for more about this Photo Booth!)

In other news, it looks like Poptropica – well, its graphic novel series at least – has a spot in the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con! (If any PHB readers are going, let us know!)

According to this publisher’s tweet, Mitch Krpata, Pop Creator and author of Poptropica: The Lost Expedition (the second Pop graphic novel after Mystery of the Map), will be at SDCC’s Booth #1216, where you can get a copy of the book before it’s officially released on August 16th.

Lastly, voting for the 2016 Poppies is now closed. Stay tuned to the PHB for details about the Poppies party and livestream, coming soon! 🙂

Popspiracy Theories

Poptropica: A Symbolic Meaning

Hoi, I’m Koi.

Poptropica has a recurring sci-fi theme. The only two things that connect them all usually is space and… the symbols. Why I deemed it necessary to say usually is because Zomberry was science fiction, but really had nothing to do with this in the grand scheme of things. Let’s begin!

Nabooti

tumblr_inline_msb1e5MFJf1qz4rgp

The first time we encountered these alien scribblings was while we were on a scavenger hunt all through Africa! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, they were imbedded into the Nabooti jewels. When they were all put into the correct order into a wooden totem, it became alive. Then, it thanked us, and returned back to it’s home planet.

Astro-Knights

The second time we encounter the galactic gibberish is on Astro-Knights.

Now listen, there’s no way to confirm that the writing is absolutely the same language. But, I do have a weird theory. The totem on Nabooti was activated by the writing. When the UFO was getting activated, it went from English to what you can see above. I think the language acts as a power source. Everywhere else on the island, any space signs or books are in English.

Mission Atlantis

The symbols once more act as some kind of space fuel. Also, notice how uncanny these letters compare to Astro-Knights… hm.

Monkey Wrench

monkeywrench3.png

While these don’t exactly work as a source of power, they are a language. There’s no way to confirm if these are all the same one, but here’s my Popspiracy:

Poptropicans descended from aliens.

Really, it does make a fair share of sense. While the aliens we’ve seen are on the Pewter moon, they may not have derived from that planet. They can clearly space travel, mind the rockets. It’s possible that they speak English, but write it in a different way. It’s also possible they crash landed, or purposely chose Poptropica. Then, their skin pigments adapted to the environment, their hair adapted to the heat, but one thing that always stayed was their instinct to write in their chicken scratch / extra-terrestrial hieroglyphics.

It’s also logical how when we go to the Pewter moon, the aliens speak to us in our language, and any island in space’s signs and messenges are in English. It’s perfectly possible that English is the prominent communication of the universe, as an extension to my earlier thought.

I understand it’s a game, and the Aliens not speaking English would be hard for kids and anyone for that matter to really understand the story and the game. Though, theoretical does it not only make sense – with what I’ve provided, it also is logical, and better than anything as of now. 😛

What do y’alls think? Are Monktropicans, Poptropicans, and Aliens linked?

Want your own meme face?

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most recent PMFM post (just choose the one of the list here). Be sure to follow the criteria below:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the meme face on Poptropica and keep it on for at least a week.
  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve basis, so your meme face will come after all of the ones before are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to re-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I reply to your comment mentioning “You being added to the list,” then I have seen your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will be made after each one before is made.

This completes round thirty-three of meme faces. Tune in next Monday for the next Poptropican Meme Face Mondays!

Crisis Caverns Island

Crisis on Infinite Caverns: Conclusion

Hoi, I’m Koi.

Here we are again! Thank you idk for the screenshots, once more. If you haven’t seen part one, check here.

Jurassic Arc

Get it? Because his spine is like a bridge? And it kinda looks like a dinosaur? Get it?

Not much I can comment on here besides that this island would’ve had very cool scenery, and clearly very cool gameplay. Walking right on top of the vertebrae going from the skull to the end of the back of a dinosaur? That’s pretty gnarly if you ask this man guy right here.

Nuclear Power Plant

Get it? Because they’re plants? And they’re glowing? Get it?

Idk says these things are not only producing light, but they’re moving as well.

tierTwo1-3

This place looks like it was built in Realms to me for some reason. There’s more to this area than just the plants, so let’s move on.

tierTwo1-4

More orange Orbs, and a dead k-koi fish?!

Or you know, just literally any fish at all.

Jokes aside, he also said the metallic cube we see to the right of him can be walked through, which seems to imply in reality it’ll had to have been moved out of the way by the player.

tierTwo1-5

It’s almost confirmed considering you can move the metallic cube over here. They probably didn’t just finish the coding before they decided to abandon the island so the other one could move, or at least that’s my two cents. 😛

tierTwo1-6

Ever wanted to take a nice cold dip under a prehistoric beast’s skeleton which is just evidence of it’s rotting, rotting corpse? Me too!

Anyway, that wraps this crisis up. Hope y’alls finally had your crisis caverns hunger fed! 🙂 Thank you idk once more for making this possible.

Crisis Caverns Island

Crisis on Infinite Caverns: Exploring and Analyzing

Hoi, I’m Koi.

idk sent in a lot of Crisis Caverns screenshots, so much so that I already have a draft of Part 2 coming out tomorrow. Today, I’ll be analyzing them to find out what Crisis Caverns could’ve been. Or… what could be?

Palace Interior

Interior, crocodile, alligator – I drive a Chevrolet movie theater.

palaceInterior

So, we all know this was the Mole King’s throne, or at least what was intended to be so. I really, really like the color palette and aesthetics the caverns had, especially the palace interior. I wish this island was a reality.

B4q1N3-IUAAJrAl

Palace Exterior

If you can tell, at the very left of the scene – there’s a hole. This area doesn’t seem to be quite finished developmental wise, but my bet is that it leads to the inner palace.

Orange Orbs

First off, we can see a few orange Orb (Legends). It seems if this was finished, the rocks would have a professional glow, and not just an orange circle with low opacity. That, or it’s indication for the coder’s to make it function or something.

Power Drill

It seems to align perfectly with the drill itself, so it’s definitely a generator of some kind.

Cavern Crazy

Really not much I can add here, but the only crisis in these caverns is that we never got to play it.

 To Be Concluded…
