My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: LillySparkle$

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of LillySparkle$, who runs a Poptropica fansite called The Pop Blog with her friend Mia. See below for how to send in your own MPIP!

Hi, I’m Lilly, and this is my detailed MPIP. I love this series so much and I thought it would be fun to write one myself – so here we go!

2010-2011 | Fun for the Whole Family!

Back in first grade computer lab, our teacher let us go on Funbrain. I played the fun mini-games they had for a while, and soon an advertisement popped up for Poptropica, which also looked fun. I asked my teacher if I could play it, and to my surprise, she said yes! The whole class soon got in on the action.

Eventually, the school blocked the game – but that didn’t stop me from playing at home. My sisters caught on as well, and unlike me, they actually played the islands – whereas I would just run around on Poptropica and do a lot of customizing. Later, my cousin also got in on the action, and it was pretty fun!

2012-2014 | A Million Accounts?!

I played Poptropica continuously throughout elementary school, eventually learning to complete islands by watching and pausing YouTube videos. My favorite island at the time was Cryptids Island.

Most people remember their first account like it was yesterday, while I – well, let’s just say I wanted credits to buy a costume, so I saved so many accounts and always forgot the password.

Slowly, starting around 2014, Poptropica faded away from my life: with school, friends, and other activities, I never really found time for it. My siblings, as they grew up, also grew out of Poptropica and forgot about it with time.

2016 | Coming Back, Better Than Ever!

One fateful day, I got sick and had to stay home from school. After several TV show marathons, I got bored and went on the computer. I was trying to think of a game to play, and then it hit me: Poptropica! I made a new account, LillySparkle$, and started Escape From Pelican Rock Island.

The next day, I was talking to my friends at lunch about it, and my close friend Mia said, “Oh yeah, I remember it!” She found her old account, and soon started playing Escape From Pelican Rock as well. We helped each other through the island, and it was a ton of fun!

Since we had so much fun helping each other, we decided to share our love with Poptropica to the world – by making a blog! That was how we started The Pop Blog, which you can check out here.

Anyway, when we first started The Pop Blog, we would play Poptropica at school. One random time when our teacher let us play games, I immediately went over to Poptropica and continued where I had left off with Lunar Colony Island. A boy walked up behind me and asked, “Are you playing Poptropica?” I thought he was going to laugh at me, but then he got on his computer and started playing Poptropica as well! It reminded me that no matter how old we get, we are still kids and should embrace what we love.

As the islands we attempted got tougher, we stumbled upon the PHB’s guides – they are so helpful! It’s great how this blog updates you right away about anything new in Poptropica.

I love Poptropica, not only because it’s a fun game, but because anyone can be a hero and save the day. No matter what gender or age you are, you can be important. In Poptropica, everyone is different, but together, we make ourselves one, and we are all heroes.

Hope you enjoyed this “My Place in Poptropica” story! Feel free to send in your own (please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username). If you send in your story, we will continue to post new community MPIPs!

If the video doesn’t fit your preference, go ahead and check out the PHB’s written walkthrough instead.

Escape from Pelican Rock

Ah EFPR, the island where you do the time for a crime you didn’t commit and… well… escape from Pelican Rock of course. 😛

Here’s the video walkthrough Captain Crawfish has made if you’d like to use it:

If you’d prefer to use a written guide, check out the one here on the PHB.

Community Creations

Introducing: PHB Community Creations!

Why hello there Poptropicans! Curious about the title? Allow me to explain a bit. No, this isn’t just another update post even though I do make those a lot. This post has a bit more… creativity. Do I have your attention? Good!

community-creations-logo

This is a new little series I like to call “Community Creations.” In this series I will be writing up a post at the end of every month that will feature YOUR creations! That’s right, your artwork, your creepy fan-fiction, your Poptropica costumes, Realms, etc. Basically anything relating to Poptropica that you make!

You might be thinking… “SD, is this just a lame excuse to post more often due to how inactive you are?” My reply to that would be “Whaaaaaaaat? Of cooooourrse not…” Don’t go looking into my ulterior motives! The point is that I think this series is a cool, interactive idea that supports imagination. Who doesn’t love art?

So here’s the deal: each month will have a different theme, whether it be a popular TV show, holiday, etc. Specifically, I will post around the last day of every month recapping the art/stories/others that were sent in. Don’t worry because I will be taking suggestions for these themes! In the monthly post, I will feature 5 creations that stood out to me in relation to the chosen topic. They do still have to relate to Poptropica though, as that’s the point.

Maybe this is actually starting to sound interesting. So how do you enter? That’s the easy part!

  1. Upload your creation wherever and just send me the link. Post it below in the comments or send it directly to me on my Twitter, DeviantArt, or Discord (note that I might not see it right away on the latter).
  2. I will always let you know once I’ve seen it if you specifically send something to me or tag me in something. That being said, I will also keep an eye out on the We-Love-Poptropica DeviantArt community for honorable mentions.
  3. Bonus points if you have a short written backstory/meaning to go along with your art, poetry, songs, stories, realms, costumes, I could go on. I mean, we don’t keep track of any points, but deeper meanings always catch my attention (though silliness is not frowned upon).

Now that we have all the rules and technicalities out of the way, let’s get to the series! If you have any questions or theme suggestions, please post them below. Don’t worry if you forget the rules, as I will recap them in each month’s post.

The next month’s theme is… *drumroll* SHIPPING! What better way to kick off the series? You shouldn’t have expected anything less from me since it’s going to be Valentine’s Day soon.

Start drawing, typing, writing, or whatever you’re going to do as soon as you want! I will take any and all submissions before the end of February, although the sooner the better, as I will have a better chance to think over your submission. Already made something cool relating to the theme? Sure, send that in too!

You can submit an endless amount of entries too, there are no limitations to your creativity! However, as this theme is shipping, please be respectful. I give you guys full permission to draw/write about me/my poptropican since I don’t mind being shipped with whoever. However, others might see shipping differently so if you include any real people in your creation(s), get their permission first! Poptropica NPCs and your own OCs are fine of course.

Anyway, see you at the end of the month and every month after that! I hope lots of you join because, while talent might have an impact on my decision, it’s really the content that matters. Make your creation catch my eye! 😉

Crisis Caverns Island

Musical Trolls and More Leaks!

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato and welcome back to another post of Poptropican goodness! Here’s what’s been going on in the game and community as of late!

First off, there’s a new ad grooving around the main streets of the islands, and it’s for the DVD release of the Dreamworks animated jukebox musical, Trolls!

Trolls1.png

This advertisement just so happens to fall under the “common room” category of advertising, so as a result, there are people to talk to, as well as other cool, 24/7 party stuff within. The first thing you see as you enter is a mannequin for the costume of either Poppy or Branch, depending on if your Poptropican is a boy or a girl.

trolls2.png

If you move over to the right of Poppy, you’ll see a light blue tuft of hair over to the right side of the platform, if you pick it up, you obtain the Hair Whip Power, which whips your hair back and forth if you press the space bar! Unfortunately, the color only comes in that baby blue, since any other color is not good enough to be hair-power-worthy it seems. Over to the bottom right corner is a video ad for the Trolls movie, but there’s no prize at the end of it. It’s up to you whether you’d like to watch or not.

However, if you move to the bottom left, you’ll see one of the Trolls popping in and out of a hole. Clicking on the glittery troll will make the room sparkle for a moment in a cool special effect!

trolls5

And that’s about it for the Trolls-themed common room!

In other news, remember the Crisis Caverns leaks that were shared not too long ago here? Well, thank you once again to Shaky Skunk and the same anonymous glitcher for a mixed bag of interesting finds! (Disclaimer: We can’t guarantee if these are real.)

Now, the first find here is described as being from Astro-Knights. From the looks of it, these may have been unused background planets as your player would explore the vast reaches of outer space, which is quite interesting. Although I’ll have to agree with Shaky Skunk here – that looks more like a gross meatball than an actual planet you could find in outer space. It’s probable that’s the reason it was left unused.

planetary

The next find involves this really worn down, shady yet intriguing urban street. This is actually the backdrop for a 2013 Power Rangers advertisement for the ad’s minigame! (Thanks, MissEligon, for letting me know on Discord!) It’s a really cool area for a temporary minigame, and it’s interesting to see a different perspective!

zbcity5.png

Not much is known about this picture, besides the fact that there’s a giant Transformer-like bot next to a building that appears to be staring into my soul. Either way, huh. Pretty darn cool.

illuminati

Not much is known about this picture either. It was speculated to be a concept art for some sort of red landscape.

room

These last two concept arts are what is most likely for Crisis Caverns. It seems like that we get a pretty cool lamp, and also it appears that the toaster is the leader the cave needs at the moment. There’s not much else to say but, fanciful.

Well that has got to do it for now! What do you think of these leaks? Fascinating? Boring? Fascinatingly boring? Either way, it’s still something cool to see.

BT out!
