Atlantis Ep. 2 free on iOS & looking ahead to 2015!

Hey Poptropicans! For those of you who’ve been holding off on playing Mission Atlantis: Ep. 3 (Out of the Blue) on iOS because it cost money, there’s good news: it’s now free! Just update your Poptropica app on iOS and you’re good to go. If you need help, check out our Mission Atlantis Island Guide!

We also have some official intel stating that Arabian Nights: Ep. 1 and PoptropiCon: Ep. 2 will be coming to the Android app this Wednesday (Dec 10), so there’s that for all you Androiders!

Speaking of the Poptropica app, remember that you can customize your character at the New You shop in the Home scene. There’s not a whole lot right now compared to the online version, but the Creators have tweeted that they’ll be adding more in 2015.

In fact, a number of recent tweets hint at what’s to come next year: for one thing, as mentioned earlier, full (albeit fewer) islands will be returning around late January – “full” meaning no episodes!

Here’s a tweet listing some other projects in the works for 2015: Land (for everybody), connecting the Poptropica app with our online accounts (but not until late 2015), a Kindle app, adding common rooms and multi-player functionality to the appTimmy Failure Island (another sponsored island!)…

…and last but not least, the graphic novel based on the Poptropica comics. In fact, the Creators have shamelessly tweeted yet another page of it, which you can see below:

graphic novel pageRegarding The POPCORN magazine, the December issue will be out sometime this week (sorry for the delay!). Now’s your last chance to send something in – see our Magazines page for more details! Due to time constraints, this will be the end of the series (at least for now), but it’s had a good run. 🙂

Anyway, that’s all the updates (app-dates?) for now – stay popping, Poptropicans. 😛

Android app finally here & monstrously cute art

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with a round of the Poptropica Help Blog’s Punch Out!!!

Has everybody gotten their retro video game references out of the way? Yes? Good. In all seriousness, Blake here, with a recap of Poptropica’s latest Twitter posts. First up, for all you Android fans out there, the Poptropica app is finally available for Google Play!

Yes, now you can frolic in Poptropica wherever you go! And all for the price of — wait, there is no price. It’s FREE! Just download the app from Google Play to get started.

By the way, this image was posted on Poptropica’s Instagram. Yes, after lots of retweeting other players’ Instagram posts, they’ve joined in on the Insta-bandwagon! You can follow them at PoptropicaCreators.

Next up, let’s take a look at the latest new doodles Poptropica’s been tweeting. Here’s PopStorm #6, which explores what Poptropicans would look like with shoes:

This is a great addition to the PopStorm series, and the one in the middle with the glasses reminds me of Groucho Marx. Oh Groucho, why did you have to go? D:

This next one is another possible teaser to an Island based on the Poptropica comics. What’s going on with these balloon animals, you ask? Well, as a hint, the tweet links to Funbrain’s page for the official Poptropica comics…

And finally, we have a blast from the past. Close your eyes. Are you closing them? Of course not, you wouldn’t be able to read this post otherwise! Anyway, just imagine the monsters from Cryptids Island back in kindergarten. Do you see it? No? Maybe this doodle from Poptropica artist Jon Pitcher will help. Who knew little Chupa had a secret crush? 😉

This has been “Let’s Imagine!” with Blake. *little rainbow star thingy from The More You Know pic floats above head* Enlightening, was it not?

Well, that’s it for the Poptropica Help Blog’s Punch Out!!! today. I just defeated Tyson by a series of button-mashing combos, so it’s time for me to go soak my thumbs in ice! Stay popping, Poptropicans.

MiniQuests, PHB History, & Android app delayed

Hey Poptropicans! Looking to beat the summer boredom? Poptropica may have nearly 40 islands, but if that’s not enough for you, then try the MiniQuests! There’s a variety of these not-fully-island-length adventures to play, and the PHB has guides for all of them – the most recent addition being our Nano-Combat Training Guide for the Virus Hunter promo mini-game – so go check it out! 🙂

For even more ideas on what to do on Poptropica, check out our list of 101 Boredom Busters or play the new Animacation ad on Main Street of Monster Carnival – more details in my previous post!

A couple of other things: video walkthroughs from YouTube have been added to all our island trivia pages, and I’ve finished writing a brand-new History page for the PHB (under the About tab) that highlights some of the exciting things that have transpired since the birth of the blog in 2008! 😀

Remember when Poptropica said that their mobile app would be available for Android (Google Play) starting July? Well, it looks like that’s not the case anymore. According to a more recent tweet from Poptropica, it’s taking longer than expected and may be ready in September. Sad face. 😦

Anyway, that’s all for now – be sure to check out the posts below for all the latest happenings in Poptropica! There’s the Animacation ad, Mission Atlantis Ep. 2 for members, Survival Ep. 3 for allsome new info on both of those islands, and more. Pop in later, Poptropicans! 😀

Mission Atlantis & Surival Ep. 2 coming soon, plus iOS app to iPhone/iPod touch this week!

Hey everyone! This is just a quick post informing you that the Creators just released the description for Mission Atlantis, Episode 2: Fortress of the Deep! Here’s what it says:

You’ve discovered something amazing at the bottom of the ocean! Now, you need to find a way inside…

ma2

Hmm, the description is clear you need to go into Atlantis! So this might be fun!

Also, if you didn’t know, Mission Atlantis (Ep .1): Into the Deep comes out for everyone next week!

Also, I checked the files for Survival, Episode 2: Hook, Line and Sinker, and they’ve already uploaded the whole island! It has all the areas, dialogue, items, and I already know what’s going to happen at the end of episode 2. 😛 Look forward to a post soon by HP, which contains all these details from behind the scenes! I think Episode 2 of Survival will come out this week or next week! Stay tuned for more info when it’s available!

In other exciting upcoming releases is the official Poptropica game app (currently only on iPad) which will be available to iPhones and iPod touches starting THIS week!

The Poptropica app is also expected to debut on the Google Play store sometime in the coming months. Stay tuned to the PHB for more news!

iPad Handheld, Children’s Book Week, and Luckiest Guy

(¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.-> Hi Gs, <-.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯)

I hope you liked my last post featuring a bunch of interesting Poptropica-related stuff compiled together, because this time it’s even more exciting! 😀

Return of the iPad Handheld

PHB viewer raqk recently found the item card for the rumored iPad handheld, or Poptropica App Tablet! I guess this proves that it is in fact real (or, that the Creators got the idea from us? 😛 ).

app

Anyway, we don’t know how to get it yet (is it an ad? a promo code?). Blake says you can get it from watching an ad, but this does not seem to work for the SUI video ads. (thanks for the pic, Pixel)

If you have found a way to get it, please tell us in the comments (and be specific)! 😀

Children’s Book Week

You may have noticed that there is a new section in the update carousel on your Home page. It’s for “Children’s Book Week” and the Children’s Choice Awards, where you can vote for your favorite illustrators, authors, and books of the year!

On the list is Poptropica’s very own Jeff Kinney (author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books), Rick Riordan (who wrote the Percy Jackson series), and more. Jeff is in 2nd place, while Rick is in first.

You can check out the polls and vote for yourself here — remember to vote for Jeff (or Rick 😛 )!

Longer Ad Streets

Has anyone else noticed that ad streets (those small pages in between scenes that house an advertisement) have become bigger? Check out the picture below for an example.

Download the “Luckiest Guy” Font

So what, you say. A new font. I don’t care. Now wait a second! The “Luckiest Guy” font is a nearly symmetrical alternative to the renowned (and expensive) Ghost Kid AOE font, which if you didn’t know costs $20. Why Ghost Kid AOE? Well, it’s the typeface used on the Poptropica logo.

luckytoghost

The one on top is Luckiest Guy, the one on the bottom is Ghost Kid. There are some differences, but they are very similar, and you can download Luckiest Guy here. 😉 Credit goes to Pixel for finding the font. 🙂 Btw, check out the PHB’s Poptropica Fonts page for more fonts Poptropica uses!

New Smilies

As you may have noticed, WordPress has updated their smilies to a more modern style (although I personally still like the old ones better). There’s a few new ones, however. WordPress has compiled a little chart showing all the different smileys and what they do!

Also, check out the PHB’s Typing Tricks page for a list of the smilies and more ways to type. 😀

So, tell me — do you like these kinds of posts, with more content less often, or the old posts, with less content more often? Tell me in the comments. 😀
