Teen Titans Go for a Crossover Show

✨ Hey Poptropica heroes! ✨

There’s a new common room ad on Home Island’s Main Street for the upcoming Cartoon Network television crossover special event between Teen Titans Go & Powerpuff Girls – aptly titled Heroes vs. Heroes; or, as one might point out, Reboot vs. Reboot. Thanks to Yujo_Jacy_the_Jumpy_Coyote for the ad write-up, and both Yujo and Hyper Gamer for the pictures!

The advertisement seems to restricted in some way, since it is possible you may not see it at all.

Poptropica Heroes! vs Heroes ad

The waves at the bottom are animated, even allowing your Poptropican to swim. Clicking on Beast Boy’s snail form at the top right corner will give every Poptropican in the room a temporary Beast Boy floatie, which will vanish once you leave the Common Room.

Grabbing Cyborg’s Foot at the bottom left will earn you the Teen Titans Costumes item and grabbing Beast Boy’s fish form will earn you the Beast Boy Power. The Teen Titans Costumes item allows access to costumes of Robin, Cyborg, and Raven respectively. The Beast Boy Power is a hand held item that will display Beast Boy transformations of either a dog, a gorilla, or a tyrannosaurus rex once spacebar is pressed.

Poptropica Heroes! vs Heroes prizes

Oddly enough, both items are Teen Titans Go themed – even clicking on the outside of the ad will link to a Teen Titans Go webpage. Perhaps the Powerpuff Girls already had their fair share of advertising items from their last appearance on Poptropica.

In addition, Poptropica glitcher WimpyKidFan has been able to load the ad into Poptropica Realms- albeit on a blank dark blue background.

On the subject of ads, Poptropica Creator Skinny Moon has been hanging out in Home Island’s Arcade common room with Poptropicans wearing the Finding Dory ad prizes! Check out her tweet:

In other news, Poptropica glitcher idk recently shared with us some item cards from the currently-cancelled Crisis Caverns Island: a button for the fictional Caldera State Park and an Island Medallion.

Also, Cool Octopus recently found a way to play the Poptropica Adventures DS game on his iOS device (such as iPhone). To do so, you will need to download a DS emulator for your device and find the Poptropica Adventures game from there.

Here at the Poptropica Help Blog, we have not tested this option, but it does appear to be possible, and if you would like to try it out, try this guide for downloading Nintendo DS games on iOS.

Anyway, don’t forget about the PHB Summer Kickoff Party this Monday on the PHC – more details in our invitation post! We hope to see many of you there!

Stay popping!

Finding Trappers for an Adventure

Hey, Poptropicans!

There’s a new ad in Poptropica for the upcoming Pixar movie, Finding Dory, which as you may know is a sequel to Finding Nemo! I’ve known about the movie for a while now, and I can honestly say I’ve been excited for it ever since.

You can find the ad on Home Island by running to the right until you spot it. By watching two short video clips, you’ll get two neat prizes. One is a Hank Hat – yup, that’s a squid on your head. The other prize is a Coffee Pot… and yup, that’s Dory in a coffee pot. Poptropica is realistic. Totally. I know.

Also, another filler post has appeared on the Creator’s Blog, in which the Creators were discussing a new character for an upcoming island – but instead of giving sneak peeks, they compared characters from previous islands together, too. Most likely this is for Crisis Caverns Island, which has yet to be officially announced.

In this “sneak peek”, there’s a “crazy trapper”, “puzzled trapper”, and the “angry trapper”. Can you guess where these characters are from? (See just below this picture for answers!)

trapper_thoughts

Answers: Crazy Trapper is Ed the janitor from New Jersey on Cryptids, Puzzled Trapper is Myron Van Buren from Survival, and Angry Trapper is the distressed guy in Loch Ness whose vehicle you fix, also from Cryptids.

In other news, PHB author HPuterpop recently pieced together the soundtrack for Poptropica Adventures for Nintendo DS. Here’s the video down below for those who want to take a listen. We also have a guide for the DS game if you’re interested!

All of them are great, but what are your favorites? Mine are Mini 01, Mini 02, Myth, and… well, most of them are great.

That’s pretty much it for this post.

Until next time!

Adventure Pig Through the Looking Glass

Hey Poptropicans!

There’s a new ad on Home Island for Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, a film coming to theaters this Friday. Watch the trailer and you’ll win a Cheshire Cat Follower! Girls will also get an Alice Costume while boys will get the (Mad) Hatter Costume. Creepy, or snazzy? 😸🎩

Anyway, thanks goes to Purple Claw and Cool Dolphin for the pictures.

In other news, pigs can now fly! Wait, what? That is, in Adventure Pig, the latest creation from Poptropica’s new parent company, StoryArc Media. Despite the similar graphics, it seems it is not related to Poptropica after all. This physics-based mobile game can be downloaded on iOS and Android, but only in Ireland and the Netherlands (it will be made available worldwide soon!).

Check out the trailer video, which uses music from Poptropica’s Monster Carnival Island:

By the way, if you’ve been keeping up with our ASG page (Avatar Studio Gift) here on the PHB, you may notice that we frequently add new ASGs to our collection! Recently we’ve added a couple of pieces of Crisis Caverns Clothing (from the upcoming underground island!), Dummy Dress-ups (which are not cloneable ASGs, but dummies you can copy from!), and lots more in other categories! Check it out!

But that’s not the only cheat-ridden way of accessing cool costumes these days! The PHB’s Cheats page now lists another tool that can allow you to easily modify your character’s clothing, account items, and much more – but in the interest of keeping it in the down-low, we don’t want to say too much here. Those of you who use the PHC may already be familiar with it as it’s been around for a while. 😉

If you’re interested, look for it on our Cheats page (hint: it starts with an “i” and ends in a “Pop”).

Until next time – stay popping, Poptropicans!

Po-tropica and the Map Medallion

Hey guys! It’s a new author here bringing you some (slightly) old news!

In celebration of Kung Fu Panda 3‘s release for DVD, there are two new ad item cards available in your inventory! Po Follower is, well, a Po follower, and Pandas Everywhere makes all Poptropicans onscreen turn into pandas when spacebar is pressed.

Also, some of you may have noticed by now there is a new medallion“Map”.

map
This may or may not be an excuse to show off how many islands I’ve completed.

What does this mean?! Is it a new quest where we must visit every single island? Is it another island based on Mystery of the Map? Can you receive it upon completing every island? Whatever it is, it definitely isn’t the result of classifying the new map as an island in the code. *cough* 😉

Finally, Poptropica retweeted a video from EthanGamerTV, a popular child gamer on YouTube with over 800 thousand subscribers. In his video, Ethan plays Poptropica’s tutorial Monkey Wrench Island (which the PHB recently reviewed here!), for the first time. (He also may or may not be a hot dog.) If you’re interested, check it out below! It’s quite professionally made.

That’s all from me for now.

Rant: Wimpy Ads

Hey folks, Cobalt here. Ohoho, do I have a rant for you.

So, I went on Poptropica today, as I do almost daily. Here’s the news: both Wimpy Kid islands have been opened to all (Wimpy Wonderland and Wimpy Boardwalk), and first-time finishers get 300 credits (instead of 150). And there’s a Wimpy Shirt prize for going on one of those islands.

But there’s a bigger issue here, and it’s glaring right in our faces. This update truly is wimpy.

Screenshot at Apr 13 18-26-01

I thought, well, it is Wimpy Kid Month, and Jeff Kinney is the author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. So I didn’t have any doubts at all they would advertise it at some point. Despite me not personally enjoying the book series after the trillionth release, I logged on anyway. It’s not like it was going to ruin my Poptropica experience for me.

Screenshot at Apr 13 18-27-08

Oh wait, it did. It really did. Look at this. It looks so tacky and cluttered it makes me think who was orchestrating this mind-numbing catastrophe opened up MS Paint and just played around with it for two minutes. On top of all that, April has become “Apriil”.

2016-04-13

There are six different fonts in this. Six. Are you guys aware that HPuterpop and UiPE from the PHB do design work for free? Hire them! Like, what is this?

The prize card that Poptropica so obnoxiously and cringingly shoves in our face is also poorly made. They couldn’t even make good what they advertised so heavily.

Screenshot at Apr 13 18-27-41

Like, is this just a belated April Fools prank? The text is off-center, the image is highly pixelated, and it all makes me wonder who thought this was okay. Honestly, if this person got paid for making this, it angers me. Not only did they recycle the redhead from the other ads, but they also recycled the prize shirt itself without adding anything new. Poptropica, you can do better than this, and you have in the past. Why deteriorate now?

Some of you may remember Smockers, the first PHB author ever, not including Slanted Fish? He hasn’t played in years. And yet, this shirt is part of his look. It’s that old.

Screenshot at Apr 13 18-28-28.png

This was an ad prize a long, long time ago that they’re passing up as something new and exciting. I’m not even joking, this frustrates me. Also, care to notice how that recycled, low-resolution lady is wearing a necklace? She’s covering up the collar above Greg’s (The Wimpy Kid) face. Why are they advertising a shirt and covering part of it up? That’s like advertising a watch and wearing a long sleeve shirt and covering some of it.

Honestly, I’d love to go even deeper into this, and why I think the quality (and quantity!) of the ads are as downright pitiful as they are, and how it’s been 50 days since the last island (and a simple tutorial one at that), and how Daily Pops are inconsistent, and getting any sort of update is slow and disappointing… but I don’t want any controversy from my viewers or the Poptropica team themselves. So, I’ll leave it at this crude joke from fellow author Brave Tomato:

2016-04-13

I think Poptropica should really rethink their priorities, their graphic designer(s), and what kind of content they consider approved for the game.

This whole thing is really embarrassing, and I’m not happy about it. Poptropicanos, can you really tell me this isn’t honestly a complete annoyance? This is hardly the first time Poptropica has released poorly designed promotional graphics, offered disappointing prize items, or offered a bunch of extra credits for a first-time island completion and called it news. And while it’s great that a couple members-only islands have been unlocked to the public, they should have been free in the first place, as they were before that fateful member-lock update last summer.

I honestly don’t want Poptropica to be chagrined over this, but hopefully, this is a wake-up call for them.

When community manager Skinny Moon said they may have had something planned for Wimpy Kid Month, I was expecting something better.

Are my expectations too high? Or was the delivery too low? What do you Poptropicanos think?

UPDATE: Poptropica Creator Skinny Moon left the following comment on this post in response:

Hey there Poptropicans,

We hear your concerns and we admit it — we rushed this Wimpy Kid promotion and we apologize. We need to do better. Honestly, we’re glad when you point out something that’s not our best work. All fan feedback is helpful!

We do hope you enjoy your rare Wimpy Kid shirt, though! It’s true that it’s an old-school Poptropica item. We thought you’d enjoy a little piece of history!

Also, we know you’re wondering why there hasn’t been a lot of new stuff happening on Poptropica and why we seem to be pretty quiet. All I can say right now is that we are incredibly busy working on very exciting things for Poptropica, and we’ll be able to reveal more towards the end of the month.

Please know we’re listening to your feedback — keep it coming — the good and the not-so-good!

Keep poppin’,
Skinny Moon

Thanks for hearing us out, Poptropica. We hope it gets better!

Until next time,

– Cobalt Spinner
