Halloween Leaks

Following up with Golden Eagle’s post about Halloween hitting the Poptropica Creators’ Blog, it seems that it has also arrived in-game as well! Besides the spooky costumes released to the Poptropica Store yesterday, there have also been some new strange ones appearing around multiplayer rooms.

As mentioned in yesterday’s post, a new mini-quest (which may or may not be an island) called the Haunted House is coming just in time for this crazy festival! Many of the Haunted House’s costumes seem to have been leaked, similarly to the Monster Carnival leaks. Among the outfit surprises are:

  • Pumpkin trick-or-treat basket
  • Grim Reaper hood, robe top + bottom, black cape, and scythe
  • Skeleton body, skull head
  • (Glitch) Dummy stand, eyes, face
  • Witch (black dress, hat with spider, fat nose, broomstick)
  • Mummy head + body wraps
  • Vampire (medallion, shiny hair, cape, etc.) (looks like last year’s)
  • Hippie man (Could this mean Reality TV is still coming?)
  • Rifle, skateboard, or big sword (originally from Nabooti phone code)

It is said that dummies similar to the ones in Super Power Island’s Masks & Capes store will randomly appear in multiplayer rooms for a period of time, which you can Costumize from to get these costumes. This is probably how this Halloween ‘leak’ happened. Be on the lookout for Grim Reaper dummies in your Multiverse room if you want that scythe!

This morning, I was hanging around our Poptropica Help Chatroom, and decided to meet in a Multiverse room with the rest of the online users. In this collage of pictures below, several of the above costumes mentioned can be seen. On another note, I also saw Golden Eagle there (with yellow hair and a gray guitar), as well as managed to Costumize some others to form my Poptropica Halloween costume for this year. 🙂

Halloween Leaks

As you can see toward the end of this picture, I met a player whose in-game Poptropica name was really ”Elmo PWNS”. Now I’m not sure how he did it, but according to Deathstalker (Seph), it’s a cheat that only 2 people know how to do. Sounds awesome, though!

One totally spectacular sight from today was the Fact Monster (he is also shown toward the end of the pic). Fact Monster is a website that sponsors Poptropica, and for those of you who have been to Time Tangled Island, you’ve probably noticed the educational ”Fact Monster” fact bubbles. Their site mascot is a red monster with purple wings, and this pretty much how he appeared to look like on Poptropica.

A couple months ago, around the time Astro-Knights Island was released, people started to see a weird mouth that curved upward and had three sharp teeth poking above it. At first, no-one knew where they came from, but now it seems that Fact Monster was the one who brought it around. Because FactMonster.com sponsors Poptropica, you might be able to call them ”Poptropica Creators”. After all, FM had the ability to change his Poptropican’s name to ‘Fact Monster’!

Fact Monster pwnz

^As you can see, I’m next to the cool Mr. Fact Monster with my Halloween costume – black skin, scarecrow head from a Goosebumps advertisement, with a vampire cape from last year’s Halloween costume pickers! 😛

There have also been rumors of a Poptropican named ”Tinker Bell” roaming Poptropica! Because Tinker Bell is a Disney character, could this mean that Disney is hoping to be affiliates with Poptropica??

But there comes a mystery with the arrival of Fact Monster. Mostly everyone who was online at the PHB’s chatroom at the time of his arrival did not seem to be Fact Monster himself, but then who could it have been? Fact Monster was probably someone in the chatroom, because he knew exactly which Multiverse room to go to. Either that, or the Creators have a list of which Multiverse rooms are currently open and who is in them.

One of the guests online at the time was someone called ”Zerror”. At one point he said ”Boo?” to the public, but other than that, nothing much. I decided to private-chat with him. Is Zerror who he seems to be? This was the dialogue we went through:

Hijuyo: Hi, Zerror.
Zerror: Hello
Hijuyo: What’s your Poptropican’s name?
Zerror: I believe most of mine read as unidentified unidentified
Hijuyo: Do you know Fact Monster?
Zerror: maybe…
Hijuyo: What’s your login username for Poptropica?
Zerror: one of them is Zerror
Hijuyo: Are you one of the Creators?

At this question, there was no reply. Very interesting… and suspicious. Do you think Zerror is the Fact Monster or not? (By the way, a search on the username ”Zerror” at the Avatar Studio shows the name Undefined Undefined and a guy with the black Nabooti turban and Thornax Launcher from a recent LEGO Bionicle ad.)

In another Multiverse room, I found a Garden Fairy dummy. Like with Super Power Island’s hero costumes, clicking the dummy would let you Costumize from it. This Garden Fairy was wearing a red dress, fairy wings (from a Tinker Bell advertisement), curly red hair, and best of all – a candy cane from last Christmas.

Garden Fairy

The picture above shows that Sleepy Melon has Costumized the dummy. When I hovered over her character, it showed her face with the dummy’s skin. Funny glitch – sometimes, it even happens with the eyes.

And as Deathstalker pointed out, the Poptropica Help Blog only needs a little OVER 9,000 hits before we reach the grand two million! IT’S OVER 9000! IT’S OVER 9000! IT’S OVER 9000! 😀

In other news, those of you who are between 6 to 12 years old are in for a treat! There’s an advertisement building on Main Street that includes a mini-quest and a costume for your reward. Shark Boy from the Poptropica Creators’ Blog has supplied the world with the following image:

The helicopter at the top brings you to the town of Chewandswallow, where you must rescue an off switch and return it to its maker! It is advertising a movie called Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which is based on a book with the same title. After you find the off switch, which is located on the left side on top of a building, you’ll get to sail on a gigantic sandwich!

The image at the bottom shows the Bedknobs and Broomsticks ad building game, which Gazek has described in this post:

Hey guys, Scary Tomato posting:

You probably know me as Scary Tomato, or ST. But like how Gazek was once Speedy Ice, I’ve also decided to change my internet name into something that might be easier to remember. You can still call me ST (many are used to it anyway 😛 ), but I’ll be changing my display name around this website too. Please try to refer to me with this name in the future:

Hijuyo

So, “hi” comes from the greeting word hi; “Ju” and “Yo” come from parts of certain names. [Original paragraph rewritten for personal reasons..] I know, the name change may take some getting used to. I wanted something that wasn’t a generic Poptropica name that some other Poptropican might also have.

Already using this name for other sites, such as Webosaurs and the new PHF.

Also, the International Blog of Poptropica (IBOP: http://theibop.wordpress.com/) has discovered a new item coming to the Poptropica Store. It’s called the ”Follower” and looks like this:

follower

A slight mistake, Creators – ”funner” is not good grammar. 🙂 Also, this isn’t a fake; you can check out the item SWF here: http://static.poptropica.com/items/item3051.swf. Wonder what’s going to follow us? Non-player characters (NPCs) like the mayor from 24 Carrot, or randomly generated pets like kittens? 😀

Poptropican’s 911: Issue #3

[We have updated our blog header – thanks, Codien!]

Sorry for the one-day late post, but yesterday the PHB added the third issue of the Poptropican’s 911 newsletter to the 911 page! This month we have loads of cool stuff loaded onto that 1 page, including TEN stories written by many creative authors! There is also an idea for ”Olympic Island” in there, for those of you who love historical sports, and a comic revealing that an alien working at Pewter Moon’s AstroZone store has been lying to its customers! Go on, you know you have to read August 2009’s newsletter:

The treasures are waiting!

We’ve also updated our monthly Poptropica Poll. This time, the answers are multiple choice – so if more than one answer suits you, choose as many options as you desire! (Keep in mind that because everyone is allowed to vote for more than one answer, it may not total up to exactly 100%.) Our latest question reads, ”Which Poptropica Creator(s) have you met so far?”, and it’s based on which Creators you have been meeting hanging around in the all-new Multiverse or some other Main Street multiplayer room!

July 2009’s poll question was, ”Reality TV Island is coming this summer! I’m most excited about:” Here are the results:

Option | Votes | Percentage
Playing another awesome Poptropica island quest | 268 | 16%
Earning 100 credits to spend at the Poptropica Store | 109 | 7%
Having more possibilities with the Costumizer so I can update my outfit | 54 | 3%
Exploring the whole island to complete another Map | 51 | 3%
Winning the Island Medallion to add to my collection | 41 | 3%
Having another multiplayer room to hang out at | 16 | 1%
All of the above! | 1,050 | 64%
What’s Reality TV Island? | 53 | 3%

Announcement:
We have changed the ”Poptropica Talk” page to ”Poptropica Chat”. This is because we’ve added a new feature on that page: a chatbox, which we call the Poptropica Help Chatroom! You can also access it here: http://xat.com/Poptropica_Help. 😉

Yesterday I met some more PHB readers! Golden Eagle invited me to her Multiverse room, where I got to see lots of cool Poptropicans, including Smockers, an awesome author working at this blog! Some other people I saw were Shaggy Tornado, Squeezy Monster, Speedy Hawk (known as Hoppy on PHB), Short Sun, Big Bird (AKA Deathstalker or Seph), Speedy Crown (sometimes called Poptropicalover), Popular Storm, and Dangerous Claw (Johnmoo on PHF). There were a few others as well, but they left before I could get their names. Here’s some photos of us:

Racing to Witch Mountain and Multiverse!

in this post…

Poptropica brings out a new ad; Walt Disneys: Race To Witch Mountain. An awesome mini adventure about saving two aliens from captivity. We have even provided a video to help you.

Scary Tomato catches up with some new friends in the wickedly new Multiverse.

And we share with you some electrifying new glitches.

Race to Witch Mountain: advertisement game

There’s currently a new advertisement building for all ages, which you can find on Main Street on any island! This is featuring Walt Disney’s Race to Witch Mountain, and the game in it is pretty simple. Push the boxes onto a colored button (gateway switch), and the color’s gateway will be unlocked. Collect the key inside the gateway (there are 3 of them: red, purple, blue).

Watch out for security guards – try hiding behind the barrels so they won’t see you! A tip is that if you have the jetpack from Early Poptropica or the flying power from Super Power, use it!

The most interesting thing about this advertisement is the items we we recieve. Only one of the 3 cards says that its limited time only. What does this mean? Do we get to keep the costumes?

Here’s a video guide for extra help:

Multiverse Meet-ups!

Today I met some more people from the PHF chat! Turns out that I missed Dr. Hare’s visit at ASH62, but I still got to meet many others from PHB and PHF. Most of us were doing the jumping glitch on the top floor of the crystal cavern, with Shy Turtle (AKA Anti Super Grape) being the most enthusiastic of all.

Dangerous Claw (known as Johnmoo on PHF) was wearing his Medusa hair. Jumpy Coyote, Moody Skull and I were also crazily hopping about. Tiny Star (Happyflame on the PHF chat) and Bronze Scorpion were our audience, and they supportively stood around to watch.

And according to Johnmoo on the PHF chat, Dr. Hare had been seen earlier today carrying different items such as a fishing rod, toilet plunger, flower, and some Store items, but he kept disappearing from the room.

I was also informed by Anon8348 and Lazy Feather that the caterpillar in the Shark Tooth dungeon has returned! If you’re a fan of this creepy crawlie, why not go pay a visit? 😛

Electrify glitches!

Dark Purple Electrify

Golden Eagle recently informed us of a ”Dark Purple Electrifier” glitch, which you can get using the following steps:

  1. Put on the Gothic Cheerleader outfit on ENTIRELY (mouth, bangs, everything).
  2. Put on any colored Electrify. (Bought at the Poptropica Store for 250 credits!)
  3. Click on the Save and Quit button (log out).
  4. Log back in. You should have dark purple Electrifier!

Note: If you change your outfit, save and come back later, it will still be there. It will disappear if you change Electrifier colors, use Phantom, etc. Golden Eagle said that she once saw dark green Electrify, but doesn’t know how to get it at the moment.

Sparks

Moody Skull and Magic Storm also mentioned a ”Electrify Glitch” where the sparks do not have color!

  1. Use the ‘Electrify’ item.
  2. Land on the Ice Planet on Astro-Knights. (Coordinates are 73, 83)
  3. Jump into the water.
  4. Now you should have Electrify sparks without color!

Black Electrify

Young Skunk told us this: “I (Young Skunk), was just having a fun Poptropica day (partying) when after a while I logged off, now later I’m back on, & I’m electrified black!”

She sent us some photos of her partying in her friends’ Multiverse rooms, in which she was wearing the light green Electrify. The photo on the right shows what happened when she logs back in – black Electrifier?! Here’s a pic:

Btw: The August 2009 issue of the PHB’s Poptropican’s 911 newsletter will be out tomorrow!
