Previously known as Author Night, this year’s annual PHB party will be in celebration of our five years of existence and the recent milestone of 9 million hits! The Poptropica Help Blog turns 5 on July 26, 2013, and everyone’s invited to join in the party, so here are the details!

WHO: You! PHB authors, commenters, and readers! Everyone!
WHAT: A Poptropica party where you’ll get to hang out with PHB authors and fans! Bring your color-changing Poptropica 5th birthday balloons, fireworks, or musical instruments if you can. Chat on the PHC, create Multiverse rooms, play games, hang out, have fun!
WHEN: Friday, July 26, 2013 @ 8pm Eastern / 7pm Central / 6pm Mountain / 5pm Pacific (find out which time zone you live in and plan accordingly – if none of these apply, use a converter)
WHERE: Our Poptropica Help Chatroom (PHC), which you can access by clicking “Chat” in the navigational bar at the top of this blog or by typing in xat.com/thephc. The chat will be moderated, so it’s safe, and any rule-breaking will result in a kick or ban, so please don’t spoil the fun.
WHY: Celebrating the PHB’s 5th anniversary and 9 million hits!

Recently the Daily Pop has been showcasing various images of three-storied rooms all with the caption “One of the lost levels of Poptropica” – implying, from what it seems, that these were ideas that never made it into the game. Perhaps they were going to be island common rooms or Multiverses?

Future Fest – This one has a bit of that Game Show Island feel to it.

PHB Sunday Special: Poptropica Doodle!

It’s tiiiime for another PHB special! You may have seen my Poptropican in the header or sidebar, but have you seen her doodled? ‘Cause I’ve got a speed drawing video of exactly that right here…

I started out with a rough sketch, traced it in black, and under that layer I colored it in – all that took about 50 minutes, but it’s been condensed into less than 3 for the video. Digital artwork was done by me on Sketchbook Express using a pen tablet. Also, if you’re interested, the PHB has a guide called How to Draw a Poptropican under the Cool Stuff tab.

Virus Hunter member bonuses incoming!

You know Virus Hunter is really coming soon when you see the members-only free bonuses start to come into the Store. The first of these is the Virtual Virus Costume, available only during the Early Access period. Because you’ve always wanted to look just like a virus… right?

The costume comes in two parts. When you Costumize the lower half with the body and legs, your own Poptropican’s legs will be replaced by this set of limbs which will have you skittering about like a spider.

[UPDATE 1 – July 9] The Inside-Out Power is here to give you deep insight on the insides (literally) of your Poptropican’s very being (or the very beings of others).

[UPDATE 2 – July 16] The last one is the Sneezing Powder – use it by pressing the space bar and you can give someone a sneezing fit! Aaa… aaahhh-choo!

By the way, remember the PHB’s Ongoing Story Creation? It’s still going (because it’s ongoing), so if you’d like to contribute to or even just read a Poptropica fan-fic created by fellow Poptropicans, you’re welcome to join in!

You heard right! Although now that this is leaked, the Creators may patch this, so try it out while you can! To play 24 Carrot BETA Carrotene Island without membership, just click this link. Credit goes to HPuterpop for the discovery. I’ve recorded a video of the beta, complete with sound:

Only members get to keep the pink jumpsuit, but this still gives non-members a chance to try it out and send some feedback to the Creators! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to play through all of it, as the keyboard wouldn’t show up for me to type on Dr. Hare’s computer, and it lagged and crashed a few times so it took a while to put the video together as well. The cursor made it harder to move as well, so it’s a good thing that’s not going to stay! Also in the video, you’ll notice I went through the smelter room squished – that was, um, amusing.

Anyway, the music was really impressive, and the larger screen was so big my 13-inch laptop screen couldn’t view it all until I actually full-screened! Not having to chase the cat was also a plus. Happy beta testing, everyone!
