Virus Hunter: Pandemic Panic! (Part 4 of 6)

The latest installment of the Virus Hunter prequel story (part 4) is here! If you missed the earlier pages, you can see part 1, part 2, and part 3 on this blog or on the Creators’ Blog.

Wait, how did he even eat his snack with that blue mask covering his entire face? And, yeah, when you leave a jar of contained virus that happens to look like jam right out in the open… BAD THINGS HAPPEN. Looks like someone’s been drinking too much… (maple syrup, of course!)

In more picture-related news, I have a new Gravatar icon, a persona I made partially based on my Poptropican, so you’ll see that around the blog next to my name now. Also, as you may have noticed, earlier this week the PHB header was updated to include the Poptropicans of our current 8 staff members. Hope you like it!

Australia, New Zealand, and the whole world of champions

For a long time, Poptropicans have always rushed to be among the first to complete a new island right when it came out, hoping to be listed as one of the top ten finishers on the Creators’ Blog. But 10 just doesn’t do everyone justice – which is why, starting with the coming-very-soon Virus Hunter Island, this tradition will be replaced with something bigger – a live player map!

Not only will you see the top 1000 finishers with this World Champions map, you’ll also be able to find where you rank among the many others before and after you and check out all the places in the world where the island has been played! It seems like it’s only available for Early Access players, though, meaning you’ll need to have membership before the island officially opens to everyone.

In other news, Poptropica Game Cards, previously only available in North America, are now purchasable in Australia and New Zealand exclusively at EB Games. For $10, you can get a month of membership with the card, but it’s worth noting that the same amount of membership time is only $3.95 if bought with a credit card. Still, if you’ve got a card, you can redeem it here.

Lastly, just a reminder that the big Create Your Dream Island Contest has begun (you’ll need a copy of the entry form)! If you want to have a higher chance of winning, check out this Creators’ Blog post which explains tips like a setting never done before, interesting time period, twist on a familiar tale, and no licensed properties. Good luck!

Virus Hunter: Pandemic Panic (2 of 6) & Dream Island contest

It’s August, and that means a couple of things for Poptropica – new Poptropica books are out, and the Create Your Dream Island Contest has begun! The map has been updated too (thanks ayman351!):

vh on map

First, Virus Hunter Island! The second page of the Pandemic Panic comic is here, continuing from the first part, and here our PDC heroes are stopped by a lovely Canadian Mountie and capture an innocent-looking Labrador Duck with a deadly CC13 virus. What the heck are you all doing, eh?

You’re going to need to be fit if you want to survive Virus Hunter Island, because the Expectation-Free Zone gym there wants to get you pumped up (and they say they’re expectation-free…):

As for the second new icon (the island contest), clicking on it will bring you to a page for the Island Creator Kit, containing a video message from Jeff Kinney:

Well, that’s all for now! Go get your creative juices flowing so you’ll have a stellar entry for that Create Your Dream Island Contest before it ends in December! (And if you win, you know it might just be the most exciting thing that happens in your childhood!)

PHB Parties

5 years of Poptropica Help!

This Poptropica Help Blog (PHB) turned 5 years old on July 26th, 2013, and we celebrated with fun and friends new and old on the PHC and Poptropica. Thanks to everyone who came to the party!

5thPHB recap

Ubiquitous color-changing 5th birthday balloons, head-to-head game battles, and special effects like Fireworks took place in Multiverse rooms that tended to fill up quickly, while on the PHC, people were chatting and got to meet some of the PHB authors – Slanted Fish, Brave Tomato, Fuzzy-B, Enclosed Lightning (who retired), as well as other Poptropica bloggers like Spotted Dragon and Silver Wolf.

Even if you couldn’t make it this time, remember that the PHC is always available for you to hang out with other Poptropicans! Thanks to all you readers for sticking with the PHB and we hope to continue being your Poptropica key! Don’t forget to be awesome.

happy birthday PHB!

Launch Rabbot (paper craft)

In the quest for 10k supporters on LEGO CUUSOO (currently close to 8,500!), Poptropica has released another paper craft to match the previous Dr. Hare construction. Just print out the new and totally rad Rabbot PDF,ย then cut, fold, and paste as needed, and you’ll have your very own robot rabbit!

Remember, Jeff Kinney (& co) is counting on you. And until we reach ten thousand, he’s the only one who gets to have a “Dr. Hare’s Lair” set, so be sure to vote!

In other news, today’s the day of the PHB’s 5 Years & 9m Hits Party on our Poptropica Help Chat (the PHC)! Click here for the specific time and other details, and we hope to see you there! :]
