  • Thanks to Bluorang for creating this dazzling winter header for the PHB, which the blog will be sporting this frosty season!

  • Former PHB author Gazek recently posted a comment on the About page saying, “Wow, the PHB looks better than ever! Seriously, man, I’m starting to rethink quitting Poptropica.” Great to hear from old-timers coming back for a visit. šŸ™‚
  • PHB author Shaggy Tornado will be on a temporary hiatus, which means that he won’t be able to post while he’s gone. He’s on a trip in Washington, DC which he has been looking forward to, but as part of the deal, he won’t be able to come on the PHB for 7 months. In the meantime, another author will be joining the PHB in his place until he returns. Enjoy your trip, ST! šŸ˜‰
  • Just wanted to say that this past Monday, I (Hijuyo) celebrated my 14th birthday on November 15th. šŸ˜€
  • Look out for the upcoming Thanksgiving Special of the epic awesome dialogue show Party With Hobos!
  • The winners of the Poptropica Help Blog’s Second Annual Halloween Costume Contest have been announced, but people have been curious about the exact placements of each of the ten finalists (who all did excellent jobs to make it into the top ten!). Cryptids Island, Sneak Peeks

Hanging on a cliff

Atop a cliff in a snowy, unheard of corner of Poptropica sits a creature more reclusive than Hazmat Hermit himself. When the hermit hears of this, he immediately goes to investigate. But partly up that cliff, still hanging onto some rope, Hazmat Hermit wishes he hadn’t come.

Why? Must be some creature if even a tough hermit in his hazmat suit is afraid of it. We don’t even get a look at whatever it is, but the surroundings hint that it could be a yeti, a very reclusive cryptid. Now that’s a dramatic cliffhanger.

I’M GOIN’ FROOTO FOR..ER..FRUIT LOOPS?

The title wasn’t well thought-out. That, I admit. As for where your tater-tots went, I’ve no idea. I promise you that I did not take them while you were checking your texts. That’s lunacy.

There’s a new ad in Poptropica! (Update thanks to kert61 on the PHF) In this ad, your Poptropican will enter a Fruit Loops pyramid, inside which you will be tasked with the extremely important job of finding all of the missing Cereal Pieces. Unfortunately, I never was able to complete the ad because every time I ate them. ( What, they’re tasty! >:C )

This ad has an Egyptian theme (hence the pyramid I mentioned…) and, of course, there will be mummies preventing you from getting to the Cereal. Cuz’ everyone knows, mummies LOVE cereal. Can’t get enough of the stuff. Nom. Nom-Nom. After you finish the ad: finding all 6 Cereal Peices (and not eating them :C) you’ll get a Mummy Run Power, which allows you to move quickly (sort of like super-speed), and a Pharaoh Costume. Tut-Tut.

Walk-though video thanks to (once again..!) Kert61. (Geez, that guy is taking credit for everything of late! Something has to be done! Heh, I kid..but not really…)

Credit Song Time!

It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the cream of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all in the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin’ tough, stayin’ hungry
They stack the odds ’til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive…

It’s mon, Mon.

Doesn't he have to say mon at the end of his sentence? SQUIRTLE.

Yay! MonS! So, now on Astro-Knights there’s an ad game for Apple Jacks. Basically you have to dodge all the cereal machines (the boring Smarties)and find the off-switch. Well, I find no puns here. SQUIRTLE. Except for the part that the cinnamon is Jamaican. SQUIRTLE. So he always eats stuff backwards. PIKACHU….SQUIRTLE.

The prize for this is an APPLE JACKS follower – or two, since you get to pick between Apple and CinnaMon. Here’s a video walkthrough by Loud Shark:

PLUS, there’s also a Lego Hero Factory ad where your task is to run around the city defusing bombs. At the end, you win a LEGO HERO factory suit and the Ray Shooter we predicted earlier. And here’s another video tutorial by Loud Shark:

Say it. Out loud.

Daily Pop, Sneak Peeks

Do we get moar Coke?

Pop means soda, so we might get soda if this feature will be released in the near future… (JK but still XD)

What is Daily Pop?

I’m not sure, but it’s coming soon!

Oooh! What do you guys think Daily Pop will be? A quest every day? You get something free? Who knows? Let’s hope it’ll be exciting! Comment on what you think this will be!

Update: According to this web article that Neat Tornado shared with us, Poptropica Creator Jess Brallier has big plans for Poptropica:

Poptropica will launch eight books with Penguin in 2012, Mr Brallier says. Poptropica is launching personalised pages, enticing players with daily quizzes and comic strips, and pitching the site as a new platform for comic syndicators, which he says are “petrified” by newspapers’ decline.

That statement has since been removed from the web, but we think that’s what the Daily Pop is going to be about! …AND Poptropica will be writing books and publishing them, for realz! :O But there’s more…

Mr Kinney, who writes scripts for Poptropica with Mr Brallier’s son Max, is working on a Wimpy Kid island, and Mr Brallier says half of the islands on Poptropica may be branded in the next year.

ā€œI want to create the next Disney,ā€ says Jess Brallier. It is an outlandish statement, but in one area, the ebullient Boston-based author has beaten the Burbank entertainment empire.

Poptropica, the ā€œvirtual worldā€ Mr Brallier launched in 2007, has passed Club Penguin, a Disney site, to become the largest US children’s destination online, according to Quantcast.

Pretty intense! Wimpy Kid Island? The next Disney? o.O What do you think the future of Poptropica holds??
