Island Flash-back: Game Show & Mocktropica 💻

It’s the end of the year, and we have two islands to mark it (totally not because I got so lost in the holidays that I forgot to make November’s post!). I’ll be highlighting both islands selected for the past couple months, which are…

Game Show & Mocktropica!!

While not often listed among the most favorite classic islands, many fans have good memories of Game Show Island, and it has a particularly unique design and setting! It takes the futuristic aspects of Astro-Knights and the apocalyptic ones of Steamworks, and fuses them together in an A.I.-takes-over-humanity story. Also includes the fun and games style of Reality TV, this time with more danger!

More Robots: It’s like they’ve taken over or something.

But unlike Sprocket and Merlin, these robots are not so friendly, all culminating to an epic battle against the evil supercomputer Holmes… who you defeat with a flash drive. Ahem. Definitely a brains-over-brawn island!

Deep Thought: Putting processing power to good use.

All jokes aside, this island does have a lot of fun puzzles, at times requiring players to test their real-world knowledge with fun facts! It also features several IRL locations, including Istanbul, Miami, and Buenos Aires.

Operating System: When technology meets talent, anything is possible.

For our second and final feature, Mocktropica Island is a special one that is not remembered so much for storytelling, worldbuilding, or puzzles, but for its humor that pokes fun at the game itself, and all the negative directions the game and its developers could turn… some of which are hitting a little too close to home now.

Also, the theme music is severely underrated.

Strap In: Concussion prevention starts with sensible headgear.

Mocktropica is definitely a cult classic. But will the devs ever re-release an island that would be even more self-deprecating now (especially considering the references to former employees)? Only time will tell. And let’s not forget the official Mega Fighting Bots website!

Let’s remind the Pop Creators why these islands became so memorable, and why the efforts that went to create them should not go to waste. Encourage them to preserve their past stories and their potential!

Until next year!

Get your game on!

Today is a short and sweet post announcing the official start of Game Show Island for members! The countdown has stopped and gone down to 0 (too bad I wasn’t there to see the glorious moment 😦 ) and the island is now available! You can expect to find a guide on here very soon for those of you who are challenged with the island. Non-Members can play the first part of this quiz related island, though!

Also, a quick note from ElmoPwns:

I will not be posting for an amount of time during these recents times. The reason being a private medical reason. I have not brought myself and have neglected my role on The PHC for some time as well for being a Moderator. Though most of my status is currently private, I will not be posting for a week or two. In case I do not come back in a month, I guess you’ll know that I am in a serious status as to cannot access my computer life and cannot fulfill my abilities as an author or as a Moderator. I want to thank the community for your kindness in case I do not come back for good. My special thanks also goes to Hijuyo for her support and for being a friend as well. Hijuyo, thanks, and please don’t remove me right away until a month later if I have no activity at all. I cannot figure out or come to an ultimatum of my condition, but I can say that it is severe enough as to be deprived of my virtual life. I sincerely thank you all for your support and say a goodbye in case it is my last. Well, with that notice being said, I bade you all a good trip and visit on the new Game Show Island. Thankyou

Introducing… The Experts!

The new and exciting Money Ladder game for the upcoming Game Show Island is a blast! Members and non-members alike can participate in this quiz game. The PCB has a new post detailing the “experts” in Money Ladder. If you didn’t know who they are, it’s noted to be informed that these “experts” are robots who specialize in certain fields of study.

This first one is the Starlet. The Starlet is pretty much a culture junkie. This includes information such as movies or music…etc. Anyways, if you’re stuck on a cultural question, just consult The Starlet:

Next up is The Professor. He lives up to his name. The Professor is an expert on history and language. If you’re stuck on a problem, for example, that asks the first island of Poptropica, you’d want to ask him.

Finally: The Athlete. The Athlete is a robot that specializes in knowledge of sports such as football or baseball. If you’re presented with a sport related question like “How many points is a touchdown worth?”, you’d want to consult him.

Keep in mind that each expert has a specialty. It wouldn’t be wise to consult The Professor on a sport related question or The Starlet on something like history. You’ll have to determine what category the question falls into, then consult your expert based on what you determined.

With these experts, getting another high score on Money Ladder will be made so much easier.
