You’ve seen the Sneak Peeks. You’ve watched the teaser trailer. And now we can reveal for the first time that the next Poptropica Island is…

Red Dragon Island! And it’s brought to you with the help of our friends at Magic Tree House. Prepare for an epic journey to ancient Japan!

We’ll have much more information about Red Dragon Island in the days to come. In the meantime, you can visit the travelmap on Poptropica right now to access the special sneak preview of Red Dragon Island — a Sumo wrestling tournament!

Well, looks like I was wrong, it has nothing to do with red turtles– in fact, it’s something even cooler.

Dragons!

After speculating about the video that was posted by the Creators, the secret has in fact, been revealed. It’s been confirmed– the new island, Red Dragon Island, is possibly based on the book “Dragon of the Red Dawn” part of the Magic Tree House series, by Mary Pope Osbourne.

A man stood to the side and told a story to the audience.

“What’s he saying?” said Annie.

“He is telling the legend of the Cloud Dragon,” said Basho. “The Cloud Dragon is one of the guardian animals of the four directions. She has the power of flight and commands the rain clouds.”

Here you’ll have to beat another sumo wrestler. Several, actually! Talk to the ref standing by the platform to get started.

You’ll have to go through 20 rounds, 4 ranks, beating several people, to get each costume. (Well, at least if you’re a member. -__-)

Juryo (starter)
Maegashira (highest for non-members)
Sanyaku
Ozeki
Yokozuna (highest for members)

: Here’s Juyo’s character as a heavy Maegashira! (Interesting how the starter rank is called ‘Juryo,’ almost like Juyo!)

Just for fun: Did you know that Red Dragon is also a possible Poptropica player name? Now isn’t that cool. 🙂

The Creators have posted a new video and it is titled “Coming Soon to Poptropica: Kanji Secret.” On YouTube, the description is:

A new island is coming to Poptropica! What will the name of this new island be? The kanji holds the answer!

And here is the video:

Dragons, patterns, and… some Japanese words. ~~If anyone is able to read it, we could have the secret of the next island!~~ According to our readers’ comments, it seems that everyone can agree that the Kanji reads “Red Dragon”!

For those of you who have already finished Wimpy Wonderland Island by now, congratulations! But for those of you who haven’t, a new challenge has now been added as part of the island quest, which means extra fun (or work, depending on how you look at it, but hopefully fun, right?)!

To get Greg off his video game console, you’ll have to beat the game Twisted Wizard for him! Captain Crawfish of the PCB described it as “three levels of ogre-zapping fun” and generously offers this helpful tip: You can rotate the blocks by pressing the space bar.

Already completed Wimpy Wonderland? You can still experience the fun by going to the ‘Games‘ tab in your inventory and selecting the Twisted Wizard CD!

Remember the good old days of Scary Tomato's Weblog?

If you know your PHB history, you know that the founder, Hijuyo, used to be known as Scary Tomato, whose Poptropican was pictured in its very first blog header (shown above for your reference), back when ST/Hijuyo’s graphics weren’t all that great.

A few months later, along came Codien. He became the third author to join the team, after Smockers, and began sprucing up the place by creating amazing graphics for the site and even renaming it from ‘Scary Tomato’s Weblog’ to ‘Poptropica Help Blog’ – what we still know it as today.

And although he left the team, Codien’s missed us and is back to posting and being the awesome graphics guy – that part is not a joke! Coming back just in time for April Fool’s Day 2011, he quickly came up with the idea of triggering back some old memories as part of the prank – by putting the very first header up and once again changing the site name to Scary Tomato’s Weblog!

We hope it made you smile, but rest assured, we’re back to being the Poptropica Help Blog, and with Codien back on the team, our next header is definitely going to awe everyone. 🙂
