Can you feel the fear tonight?

Recent Daily Pops have been hinting at a new city-themed adventure… but what happens when the city lights start to dim? This sneak peek from the Creators’ Blog could be for an upcoming new Halloween feature!

He appears to be carrying a flashlight – is that what the battery bar is for down at the bottom left corner? Well whatever you do, don’t let that light run out… or Slenderman will get you. Maybe.

While we’re on the subject of nighttime, don’t forget that the members-only limited edition Night Hare costume will be gone from the Store when Super Villain Island is released to everyone next Thursday, October 18th! Grab it now while you still can. Super Villain is this year’s most popular island, Poptropica’s 30th island, and if you need help, our Super Villain Guide and other resources should have you covered.

Finally, check out our Fourth Annual Halloween Costume Competition! We’ve received lots of great entries so far and would love to see yours, too, if you haven’t entered yet. And even if you have, you’re welcome to enter more!

Super Villain voted super popular island of 2012, Circus Afros are the new trend, and then some more!

A new poll on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog asks, “What is your favorite new Island of 2012?” A vast majority of the votes – over half (53%) – went to the all-new Super Villain Island! (Be sure to check out our guide if you need any help.) The rest were Lunar Colony (9%), Wimpy Boardwalk (8%), Poptropolis Games (8%), Twisted Thicket (6%), Vampire’s Curse (9%), and SOS Island (4%). Percentages are at the time of this post, but there’s still time left to cast your vote. 😀

Some other recent news & PCB posts:

  • Mad Scientist, Mad Tornado discovered this item card SWF of an amulet that never quite made it into Vampire’s Curse Island. Click here to see it.
  • More villains than you can shake your stick at – What other Poptropica evildoers have you found at Erewhon Prison?
  • Standup comics – Because reading the daily paper is too old-school.

There’s a new ad for Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, for the DVD coming out on Tuesday, October 16. You can find it on Lunar Colony and some other islands. Thanks to Samwow5 for the guide and prize pics:

To complete the walkthrough go all the right and talk to Alex, the lion. He says he wants a circus act that blows everyone way. Then ask the second question and go into the cannon. The goal: you have to move with the mouse (up and down) through as many rings as possible but don’t miss to many or you will have to start over.

When you win you get the Marty Costume and the Circus Cannon Power. Da da da da da da circus, da da da da da da da da afro… 🙂

And thanks to Cyclone for the pic below. Gotta love that circus afro! 😀

Arrr you going to save the kingdom with your pencil? Four new books for the adventurous Poptropica reader!

Poptropica’s been hard at work, and 4 new books are expected to be released on November 8th, 2012. Of course… not to brag or anything… but the PHB had already been posting about it months before! (see here, here, or here) Anyway, now we’ve got some blurbs for the books, and you can click on the title to check it out on Amazon. 😛

Skullduggery Island: In this 160-page illustrated novel, a cruel pirate named Captain Crawfish has been raiding the small port of Fort Ridley. Our hero must embark on a journey to find a powerful ship and skilled crew to help him defeat Captain Crawfish and recover a map that will lead the islanders of Fort Ridley back to their treasure.

Astro-Knights Island: In this 160-page illustrated novel, the princess of the Kingdom of Arturus has been kidnapped by an evil inventor named Mordred who has taken her off into space. Our hero now must learn to build his own space craft and travel to the stars on an intergalactic quest to rescue the princess and save the kingdom of Arturus.

Pencil Warrior: Something sinister is erasing its way across Poptropica, and the only way to stop it is by re-drawing all the islands and re-creating the world before this new threat can erase every trace. This 64-page full-color doodle book is perfect for fans of Poptropica and anyone who loves to draw.

Poptropica Mad Libs: Poptropica Mad Libs features 21 hilarious and action-packed stories based on games and missions from the website. Fans of the site will love to bring the adventure to life by filling in the blanks of our brand new Mad Libs!

This makes 5 books, in addition to the first Poptropica book, Poptropica: The Official Guide, which was released last year. Do you own a copy of the guidebook? Which one of these new books do you plan to add to your bookshelf? 😀

Littlest Pet Shop Fairies & Hot Wheels Ballistiks meet Poptropica!

There are two new ads around Poptropica Main Streets – the Littlest Pet Shop Fairies for girls, and the Hot Wheels Ballistiks for boys. Here’s a quick guide to both!

Littlest Pet Shop Fairies (girls only)

Find all four fairies before the sun goes down! Click on each fairy to have them follow you out of the forest!

You’ll be in an enchanted forest area and your job is to track down the four fairies. Two are located on the left side, and two on the right. Bounce on the mushrooms on the tree in the middle to help you reach them. When you see a sparkly creature, click on it, until you’ve gotten all 4. The prizes are a Littlest Pet Shop Fairy Costume and Fairy Dust power – which makes you as sparkly as the fairies.

Hot Wheels Ballistiks (boys only)

Use your mouse to aim the Ballistiks cannon. Click and hold to power the cannon and let go to fire! Hit the target in the center three times to win!

Launch a car knock down a pyramid of barrels, but be careful not to hit any obstacles. You have 5 tries to knock down the barrels 3 times. (TIP: Aim high but not too high or you’ll have to start over, and use full power!) The prizes are Hot Wheels Ballistiks Bobble Head (four designs to choose from; wearable) and Drop Power – drops a shark-like vehicle on your screen which then speeds off.
