So, as you may already be aware, Poptropica’s Island Hopper Sweepstakes has come to a close. And before the Creators reveal to us the grand prize winner, they have kindly presented us with a list of the second prize winners, who have each won a six-month membership. The lucky ones are as follows:

Congratulations to Cool Spinner, Crazy Eagle, Crazy Hawk, Fierce Sword, Grumpy Sword, Happy Grape, Popular Dolphin, Purple Leopard, Sleepy Pear, and Speedy Chicken!

Are you all excited to finally see who will take home the grand prize? Because we here at the PHB are ready. Bring it on, Creators! 😀

In other news, the Creators have shared another pic of their new headquarters in Boston – featuring a Zomberry smoothie bar!

Until next time…

Announcing Custom Name Genie!

Hey Poptropicans!

In case it’s been a while since you’ve last checked out our Cheats page, you may notice a recent addition: the Custom Name Genie form! Like with our Avatar Studio Gift, we’re using our secret method* to bring you some awesome account alterations. As the name suggests, using this service, you get to have your very own custom name on Poptropica!

namegenie

*Due to not wanting our method to be patched, nor to have it abused, we will not be sharing it with the general public. Fear not, our goal is to let everyone simply enjoy the products!

All you have to do is fill out a simple form on our Cheats page specifying the desired details, and one of our glitching genies* will get to your request within a week and send you the custom-named account. Please note that this service cannot be done on pre-existing accounts (we will have to make you a new one), and of course, we will not make any offensive names.

With that being said, go wild with creativity! If you’d like your name to show up in-game, you can use any combination of the standard or Creators’ Poptropica names (see list here). Otherwise, non-standard custom names will show up in-game as Poptropican Lizard, but you can still see the custom name on the Avatar Studio as well as on the Poptropica app if you import your character’s look. Also, your name can have anywhere from one to four parts!

Whether you decide to become Captain Lucky Chicken Wing (shows up in-game) or Kim Kardashian (doesn’t show in-game), we hope you find a name you like and enjoy the Custom Name Genie. 🙂

*Thanks goes to renowned Poptropica glitchers Keith Sammut and Red Lizard for their help in manually processing and creating each request.

We also hope you’ve been enjoying the Avatar Studio Gift (details here), because we’ve been increasing our ASG offerings! Here’s just a sample of what’s newCheck out the rest!

We’ve added all eleven Realms animals, various epic-looking costumes that are otherwise exclusive to the Poptropica app, some Omegon costumes from PoptropiCon, cute aliens from Galactic Hot Dogs, and touched up some of our other sections. Have fun with these new costumes!

In other news, album photos for Escape From Pelican Rock Island are finally here! Thanks to Tall Cactus for the tip. If you finished the island very early on, you may have to play it again to get the pics – however, for others, you may already have them. In any case, you can view the photos on our EFPR Island trivia page!

Finally, I’d like to ask you guys for your thoughts on the possibility of the Poptropica Help Network having our own mobile app! It would be a one-stop spot on your phone or tablet for our various networks: PHB, PHC, Twitter, Wiki, and more. Not promising anything, but your input is appreciated! 🙂

Anyway, that’s all for now!

Just keep swimming, Poptropicans. 😀

Poptropican Meme Face Mondays: Round 8

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here.

MemesOnPoptropicans

It’s real. And it’s here. Welcome to round eight of PMFM (Poptropican Meme Face Mondays)!

PMFM-Round8

The lucky meme-faced Poptropicans this week are Spencer Bennett, SillyWing, and Prickly Monster! And here are the memes:

Feel free to click on the images to view them in their full glory. 😛

Want your own meme face?

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most recent PMFM post (just choose the one of the list here). Be sure to follow the criteria below:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the meme face on Poptropica and keep it on for at least a week.
  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve basis, so your meme face will come after all of the ones before are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to re-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I reply to your comment mentioning “You being added to the list,” then I have seen your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will be made after each one before is made.

This completes round eight of meme faces. Tune in next Monday for the next Poptropican Meme Face Mondays!

What do you think about this week’s meme faces? Comment below.

Giant Hawk Adventures, Magazines

POPCORN #29 (plus changes!) & GHA short

Hey Poptropicans, the butter is back! 😀

Issue #29 of our Poptropica fan magazine, known as The POPCORN, has just been released, with all sorts of Poptropica fan creations, including a few prison stories inspired by Escape From Pelican Rock, artwork by Popular Wolf, and more! As usual, this is available as a PDF.

Check out the January 2016 issue now! (Or download it to read offline!)

With the new year, we’re also considering some changes to The POPCORN. In the past, we have generally been accepting of most every entry that gets sent in, but this means that the length of each issue tends to fluctuate, along with quality varying from entry to entry. In order to keep up, we may no longer guarantee inclusion of everything in the magazines, but instead encourage you to share in other places on the web for people to check out.

In particular, we’d like to emphasize using our Poptropica Help subreddit, our mini-forum for posting all sorts of Poptropica tidbits. No matter where on the web you like to post your stories, fan art, comics, costumes, island ideas, and whatever else you can think of – whether it’s on our We-Love-Poptropica deviantArt group or even a text post on the subreddit itself – you can link to it on Reddit! You can even link to other Poptropicans’ creations to share them with everyone!

subreddit

As part of our desire to cultivate more consistent and quality magazines, we will also be posting them seasonally – about 4 issues a year. To see (and make!) more stories and art, get plugged into our subreddit year-round! It’s very simple to use and is a great hotbed for creativity.

Anyway, you can enjoy this issue and all the past issues over on our Magazines page. Leave your comments on subreddit postings to let people know you appreciate their work, and be sure to share some of your favorites from around the web so we can check them out!

Speaking of stories, the prequel short to Giant Hawk Adventures (that’s the Poptropica fanfic series by Giant Hawk here on the PHB), An Afternoon at Queequeg’s, was just released! Read it now!

AnAfternoonAtQueequeg's

You may have noticed the new “GHA” tab on the top navigational bar of the PHB. That’s where new installments of the Giant Hawk Adventures will be posted, so keep an eye out for more of those! 🙂

Stay popping, Poptropicans. 😉

Hope you enjoy our pop-pop-Poptropica Help Network fan magazine and the GHA short!

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Mighty Gamer

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here. Remember not too long ago when the PHB authors (including myself) shared our Poptropica origin stories with a series called “My Place in Poptropica”? Afterwards, we invited you guys in the community to create your own – and starting with this one, we’ll be publishing them periodically on the PHB! More details at the end of this post.

Mighty Gamer (creator of Explore • Collect • Compete and author on the Mega Poptropica Blog) was the first community member to send in her MPIP story. So, without further ado, here it is!

MPIP-MightyGamer

2008/2009: Just Starting Out

To begin with, I’m not entirely sure when I joined. But, I do know that I joined around 2008 or 2009; when I was either 6 or 7. I’m already forgetting stuff.

Anyway, onto how I actually joined Poptropica. One day I was in class during recess, which was being held inside due to rain. There I was, on Funbrain. (I was only allowed on that particular website.) As I was on Funbrain, I saw it. Poptropica.

Throughout 2008/2009, I was continually making new accounts every time I played. Why I did this? I’m not sure. And all I did in-game was collect a costume with the free 75 credits and explore Early Poptropica without even progressing. (Though, I know it like the back of my hand now. :P)

2010-2011: Progressing

At this point, I was still progressing slowly. I didn’t know about the PHB, the Poptropica Creators’ Blog, or any other blog. There was some good news, though. I was actually trying to complete islands at this point.

I was even going into common rooms to play Hoops with other Poptropicans. Sometimes, I would even play Hoops for hours on the weekends. Now, that’s what you call a weekend. Oh, memories! I know I had lots of fun, even if I can’t remember it perfectly. But soon, those fun times would come to an end.

2012-2013: Quitting Poptropica

I quit Poptropica for 2 years. Reasons vary. But that’s not important! It was weird, considering I was usually online every single day for at least an hour. Since I was a major gamer, even back then, I’ve named myself “Mighty Gamer.” 😛

One day, I stumbled upon a new-found curiosity of how Poptropica was doing. No, I did not actually play it, but that’s when I found the PHB. I was on Google and I simply typed in “poptropica.” That’s it. That’s when I found the PHB. I brought it up, and since then, I would occasionally read some posts/comments, and even comment myself. I never did come to play Poptropica again, during this time.

2014: Playing Poptropica Once Again

2014 was the year I played Poptropica again. But after 2 years? Why would I decide to play Poptropica after 2 years of inactivity? Well, you’ll understand in a second. While I was at someone’s house, I saw my friend helping his brother with a game. I went over to look at the screen, that three other people were looking at: It was Poptropica. I also saw them watch my now-favorite YouTuber, Thinknoodles.

As I kept watching, I took my laptop and made a character by the name of “Brave Heart.” I looked through the map for Cryptids Island and sooner or later, I was hooked once again. Within 3 months, I completed all the current islands. But, I’d soon come to regret something, a trade. There was only one good thing that came out of this, Thinknoodles. I watch all of his videos now.

2015: Losing Brave Heart & New Beginnings

I traded the account to the friend’s brother I mentioned. I’m not really sure why I did that, but I did. So, that’s when I lost Brave Heart. Anyway, later that year, I made Mighty Gamer, as well as a Twitter account to join the Poptropica community there.

And after that? Well, my interest in blogging appeared. Therefore, there I was; making my very first blog: Explore • Collect • Compete. As I continue blogging, I’m happy to say I’ve met so many nice people. I was, and still am, really excited for the future. I’ve had so many opportunities. Being featured by Mad Apper in an interview and eventually invited to the Mega Poptropica Blog. Ultimate iPad Expert and HPuterpop made me a header for my blog. Even now, being featured on the PHB in this “My Place in Poptropica.”

I can’t say I haven’t gotten anywhere, because I have. And I just want to thank you all. I couldn’t have made it without every one of you. You’re all amazing.

This is my story. My Place in Poptropica.

Hope you enjoyed this “My Place in Poptropica” story! Feel free to send in your own (please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username). Look out for more community MPIPs in the future!
