It could’ve been so different… :O

Update: For reasons unknown, the post mentioned below has been removed from the Creators’ Blog! Kind of weird… and nobody knows why! (Thanks for noticing, Explorer Bronze.)

Do you know what Poptropica may have looked like in its early stages of development? The Poptropica team sure had some different styles of designing back then! Check it out:

Poptropica’s embarrassing baby photos

Do your parents ever like to embarrass you by showing your baby pictures to your friends? Mine sure did, until I got even. Oh, did I get even…

Um, anyway, it turns out that Poptropica has some embarrassing baby photos of its own. You already know that when you start a new game, you can customize your Poptropican any way you’d like. It looks a little something like this.

Way back when we started planning Poptropica, we knew we wanted to let you customize your character. But, er, this is how we initially sketched it out.

Yikes! Of course, it was never meant to look this way for real. We just wanted to demonstrate how changing your character would work. Still… yeesh. I can’t believe we used to look like that. How embarrassing!

Please vote! [PHF update] + Steamworks Travelogue!

*TV static* We now interrupt our normal broadcast to bring you…this! A post wherein a sad boy will beg and plead for the fate of humanity!!!

…But not really. What I really need to ask is that you guys PLZZZZZZZ (notice, that’s 7 times the z’s!! THAT’S A LOT OF Z’S) take this poll!

–> TAKE THIS POLL <–

So…I’m just gonna walk off this stage here-*falls* MY SPLEEEEEEEEN

In other news, Steamworks Island will be available for non-members in about six days! 😀 To build up excitement for it, Captain Crawfish from the PCB posted a travelogue of his adventures in this new land:

Captain Crawfish’s Steamworks Island travelogue

Believe it or not, we’re only a week away from opening Steamworks Island to everyone! During the Early Access period, I’ve ventured away from Skullduggery Island to explore the mysteries of Steamworks.

Lucky for you, I took pictures! Settle in for a vacation slideshow like you’ve never seen. And no talking until I’m done.

One of the great things about Steamworks Island is how many different ways there are to get around. You might overlook this little bit of simple machinery on first glance.

But look what happens when you stand on it and start running!

It takes you all the way up the thread of the screw.

I know there’s a mystery to solve on Steamworks Island, but I was having too much fun with this. As it turns out, that was a recurring theme of my trip.

I CAN SEE THE FUTURE…and it’s full of spelling errors.

The Fortune Cookie has just arrived in the store. Pearls of wisdom from the minds of the Poptropica Creators have been carefully placed inside each of these cookies. This fun, new item has two purposes:
1. Crack open the cookie to understand your own future
2. Place the cookie in common rooms to provide the future for unsuspecting Poptropican users.

Follow these simple guidelines to place a fortune cookie among others then wait for them to click.

MASTER MIME

Well, today the Creators released a new item in the store – the “Fortune Cookie”. With it, you will be able to “see” the future and have your “destiny” revealed…at least that’s what the back of the box says. Anyway, this post is really great – except for the spelling error in the directions image. See if you can spot it.

EDIT: Sneaky little Creators you. They’ve updated the post to fix the spelling error.
Does the Fortune Cookie turn into a car or something? Great bonus, Creators. Nice touch.

Tips and Tricks for a Better Poptropica!

This new post from the Creators focuses on tips and tricks for the game that will make your experience better while playing! the post is about killing clicking on crabs and bugs:

Poptropica Tips and Tricks: Pest control

This week we’re going to be sharing some neat tips and tricks to help you get a little more from Poptropica. We’ve hidden a lot of fun easter eggs in the game. You may have found some already!

Have you ever noticed how many of the background objects in Poptropica are interactive? Sometimes even more than you’d think. Take the crab that’s crawling around the first screen of Time Tangled Island.

He certainly looks mopey. But he’ll look even more mopey if you click on him.

See how he gets squished? Well, just see what happens if you keep clicking on him real fast!

Yikes! He explodes. Your Poptropican has to dodge the debris.

The same cannot be said for the roaches that infest Bucky’s hotel room on Reality TV Island.

Those little buggers move fast. If you can catch up with them, here’s what happens:

If you leave the room and come back inside, they’ll be ready to be squashed all over again.

Have you found any more clickable objects in Poptropica?

HAZMAT HERMIT

See? Just from this post, I can tell that Hazmat Hermit has great decision-making skills. I mean, who else would reason that an eight-foot plant with two mouths (that are obviously for making cute dog noises, barking, and most obviously not for eating you) is not a plant whose nature is to eat everything that comes into sight, and looks edible?

…And that, my friends, is why he’s Poptropica’s top scientist on all the unknown. Job well done, Hermit. JOB WELL DONE MAN!!! *claps*

*Walks away instead of zooming, flying, teleporting, or vaporizing like his fellow authors*
