Poptropican’s 911: Issue #4

Hey Poptropicans! Recently the Poptropica Help Blog has published the fourth issue of our monthly newsletter, The Poptropican’s 911. This time we have TWELVE ultra-creative tales told by the bravest citizens around the Poptropica world. Green Seal is about to discover an unknown island, some lucky girls win tickets to a vacation at Shark Tooth Island, and the Agent Shadow trilogy wraps itself up as Shifty Shadow is brought to Evil Island. So, come read the 911 for September 2009!

Go give it a read.

We have also updated our ‘Poptropica Poll’ sidebar widget, so join in and submit your vote now! Our latest question reads, ”What do you think of the Pathwise game on Poptropica?”, and it’s based on the recent release of this brand-new puzzle game where you must click on tiles and try to connect to the other side before your opponent does.

August 2009’s poll question was, ”Which Poptropica Creator(s) have you met so far?” Here are the results:

Option | Votes | Percentage
None yet, but I hope to meet one really soon! | 1,151 | 17%
Director D | 884 | 13%
Dr. Hare| 883 | 13%
Comic Kid| 803 | 12%
Shark Boy| 794 | 12%
Binary Bard| 732 | 11%
Vlad the Viking| 698 | 10%
Hazmat Hermit| 530 | 8%
Thirsty Whale| 423 | 6%

Hope you’ll enjoy reading our 911 this month, and maybe even be inspired to submit your own entries! Congratulations to everyone who entered something for the 911, whether it made it or not. 🙂

In other news, those of you who are between 6 to 12 years old are in for a treat! There’s an advertisement building on Main Street that includes a mini-quest and a costume for your reward. Shark Boy from the Poptropica Creators’ Blog has supplied the world with the following image:

The helicopter at the top brings you to the town of Chewandswallow, where you must rescue an off switch and return it to its maker! It is advertising a movie called Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which is based on a book with the same title. After you find the off switch, which is located on the left side on top of a building, you’ll get to sail on a gigantic sandwich!

The image at the bottom shows the Bedknobs and Broomsticks ad building game, which Gazek has described in this post:

Have fun on your adventures!

Poptropican’s 911: Issue #3

[We have updated our blog header – thanks, Codien!]

Sorry for the one-day late post, but yesterday the PHB added the third issue of the Poptropican’s 911 newsletter to the 911 page! This month we have loads of cool stuff loaded onto that 1 page, including TEN stories written by many creative authors! There is also an idea for ”Olympic Island” in there, for those of you who love historical sports, and a comic revealing that an alien working at Pewter Moon’s AstroZone store has been lying to its customers! Go on, you know you have to read August 2009’s newsletter:

The treasures are waiting!

We’ve also updated our monthly Poptropica Poll. This time, the answers are multiple choice – so if more than one answer suits you, choose as many options as you desire! (Keep in mind that because everyone is allowed to vote for more than one answer, it may not total up to exactly 100%.) Our latest question reads, ”Which Poptropica Creator(s) have you met so far?”, and it’s based on which Creators you have been meeting hanging around in the all-new Multiverse or some other Main Street multiplayer room!

July 2009’s poll question was, ”Reality TV Island is coming this summer! I’m most excited about:” Here are the results:

Option | Votes | Percentage
Playing another awesome Poptropica island quest | 268 | 16%
Earning 100 credits to spend at the Poptropica Store | 109 | 7%
Having more possibilities with the Costumizer so I can update my outfit | 54 | 3%
Exploring the whole island to complete another Map | 51 | 3%
Winning the Island Medallion to add to my collection | 41 | 3%
Having another multiplayer room to hang out at | 16 | 1%
All of the above! | 1,050 | 64%
What’s Reality TV Island? | 53 | 3%

Announcement:
We have changed the ”Poptropica Talk” page to ”Poptropica Chat”. This is because we’ve added a new feature on that page: a chatbox, which we call the Poptropica Help Chatroom! You can also access it here: http://xat.com/Poptropica_Help. 😉

Yesterday I met some more PHB readers! Golden Eagle invited me to her Multiverse room, where I got to see lots of cool Poptropicans, including Smockers, an awesome author working at this blog! Some other people I saw were Shaggy Tornado, Squeezy Monster, Speedy Hawk (known as Hoppy on PHB), Short Sun, Big Bird (AKA Deathstalker or Seph), Speedy Crown (sometimes called Poptropicalover), Popular Storm, and Dangerous Claw (Johnmoo on PHF). There were a few others as well, but they left before I could get their names. Here’s some photos of us:

Poptropican’s 911: Issue #2

It’s time to kick off the month of July 2009 with another issue of the PHB’s Poptropican’s 911 newsletter! You’ll get to learn how to play any room on Astro-Knights Island in full-screen, read some cool tales about courageous Poptropicans, admire awesome artwork, and lots more! So, let’s go ahead and…

Enter the realm of Issue #2!

Also, the Poptropica Help Blog’s ”Poptropica Poll” has been updated! Our latest question reads, ”Reality TV Island is coming this summer! I’m most excited about:” followed by some cool answers, so take your time voting!

June 2009’s poll question was, ”How many credits do you own (on a single/main Poptropica account)?” Here are the results:

Option | Votes | Percentage
None, I spent them all. | 519 | 22%
25 – 75 | 443 | 19%
100 – 475 | 653 | 28%
500 – 575 | 118 | 5%
600 – 775 | 121 | 5%
800 – 975 | 187 | 8%
1000+ | 301 | 13%

You can now rate any of the PHB’s posts or pages with awesome blue stars! At the bottom of every post and page, you’ll find 5 stars with a ”Rate This” sign next to them. (Note: For posts, you have to click on it to actually see the rating section, because it doesn’t show on the homepage.) To rate our pages/posts, simply hover your cursor over the stars and select how many you’d like to rate us (out of a possible 5). One is the worst; five is the best; and you can see what each number of stars stand for when you hover over that amount. Here’s the list:

  • One star = Very Poor
  • Two stars = Poor
  • Three stars = Average
  • Four stars = Good
  • Five stars = Excellent

Once you’ve decided how well we’ve written a post or page, click on the stars to submit your rating. A ”Thank You” will appear for a brief moment, then it will show you the average rating of the post/page from everyone who has ever rated there. Next to it, it will show you how many people have rated the post/page. If you try to rate again, but with a different star level, it will be saved over your first one. If you try to rate again, but with the same star level, it will not add one more to the number of votes.

So, please send us your valued feedback! 🙂

The Monthly Surprise

🙂 We are happy to announce the major event that will be happening every month, and you will be involved. 🙂

~

_A Special “PHB Monthly Newsletter”_
The First Sunday of Every Month

The PHB Newsletter. A giant mixture of news, events and even competitions. From now on, on the first Sunday of every month we will post this legendary post. It will consist of almost 10 sections for pure Poptropica awesomeness. 😛
That’s right, it’s what you have been dreaming about.

The monthly post will contain things like:

  • “Ask PHB”: Readers can ask questions about Poptropica via e-mail to the PHB staff. We can select about 3 of them to publish per month.
  • Competitions.
  • “PHB Sneak Peeks” – Yes, new ones. 😛
  • Stories: Readers can submit their own short stories to PHB’s e-mail and we can select one for every month, OR we can hire someone to be a “Newsletter Author”, and they will send in a short story/chapter or part of a long story (for each month) to PHB’s e-mail for us to publish each month.
  • Submit Your Own: Let readers submit their own ideas (maybe their dreams of what kind of island they want to see on Poptropica), stories, competition entries, fan art (comics, etc) and more to [email protected].
  • Current News/Monthly Reflection: A summary of what happened in Poptropica for the past month – Sneak peeks, new islands, new ads, etc
  • “Easter Eggs”: In each issue, reveal a secret (known as “Easter eggs”) from Poptropica. (example: typing ‘1225’ in the phone from Nabooti for a Santa hat and sack) or maybe someone besides Dr. Hare.
  • Fan Art: Show a Poptropica-themed poem, comic, drawing, puzzle, or something else created by a Poptropican.

Any more suggestions? Opinions? If you would like to apply for any of these positions, you may start now and send them over to [email protected]. We can’t wait to see our readers’ creativity!

A Note Regarding ‘Poptropica Poll’

As you’ve probably noticed, we have a sidebar widget titled ‘Poptropica Poll’, where there is a Poptropica-related poll that readers may vote on. They used to be changed at random times, but starting this month, they will be changed every time a new PHB monthly newsletter is released (the first Sunday of a month). This month’s new poll will start a little later, probably next week, and will ask the question, “What would you like the PHB’s monthly newsletter to be called?” We will use this to review your suggestions, and when June’s edition of the newsletter comes out, you will find the winning name, as well as a new poll updated for the coming month!

We have the idea. We have the writers. The only problem? We don’t know what to call it.
Comment with your great ideas on this post. Your suggestions may be put into the next poll.
