Glitch Fix: The Solution to Discolored Limbs

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post written by Perfect Sky, a Poptropica player who’s also quite active in the community. In this post she’ll be sharing a solution to an unfortunate glitch. Enjoy! –🐠)

Hey everyone, it’s Perfect Sky!

So, I’m sure we have all experienced one very annoying glitch over the past couple years: the discolored arms/legs glitch. After visiting a sound-updated island (SUI), you might have noticed your Poptropican’s arm color change when you returned to a non-SUI, or entered a common room.

This glitch causes the skin tone of your Poptropican’s arms and legs to change, matching the color of the pants you wore. Usually (but not exclusively), this happens when you change your outfit while on an SUI, by using the Costumizer, or putting on a wearable item from the island. So if you were to wear blue pants on an SUI, you might find your arms turning blue!

pop_discolored_arms

Now, maybe if your Poptropican’s arms happened to turn black while wearing a black jacket, this might not look so bad. But, if your arms turn bright pink and you proceed to put on a blue shirt, this could be a major fashion disaster! We wouldn’t want that to happen, now would we? But wait, we don’t have to worry any longer, because there is a very simple way to fix this unfortunate discoloration.

The solution is quite simple, but unfortunately, this does not prevent the problem from happening again. Whatever causes this issue to occur has not yet been resolved. So you may still notice this happening nearly every time you return to an island with the old format. And I must admit, it gets pretty frustrating. But hey, at least it’s easy to fix. Here’s how.

OPTION ONE: This method goes back to an old glitch that has been used for many years. All you need to do is go to a non-SUI hold down Ctrl + Shift + S on your keyboard, which causes your Poptropican’s skin tone to change randomly. Just repeat this keyboard trick until you find your original skin tone (note: there is a limited selection). It may take a few tries to get a color you like. Once you do it, you will notice that your Poptropican’s arms and legs look normal again.

OPTION TWO: As I stated before, the first method only works with default skin tones. So, what about custom skin tones? Well, the solution is still very easy. All you need to do is remix the color. But using the free Colorizer in the New You shop on Home Island will not solve the problem, since Home Island is a SUI. Instead, you will have to purchase the Colorizer gold card from the store so it can be accessed on other islands. Once you have the Colorizer item, use it on any non-SUI to remix your custom skin tone next time your Poptropican’s arms decide they don’t want to match anymore.

And that’s it! Pretty simple, right? There’s no need to worry about those discolored arms ruining fabulous outfits any longer. Well, that’s all for now. I hope this helped!

PHB Double Special: Make Fact Monster Great Again!

Hey Poptropicans! This PHB Double Special midweek post comes to you in two small parts – the former is a cool little glitch, and the latter involves two new costumes for everyone. Enjooooy!

Part 1: Bring back the Fact Monster buttons!

(This first part is a guest post by Small Carrot, a Poptropican in our community. UPDATE: Credit for this glitch goes to Keith Sammut’s website.)

Hello Poptropicans, I’m Small Carrot, a common Poptropican you can find on the PHC. I am here to present a fun glitch, and Tall Melon helped me with it. By the way, if you want to add me on Pop, my usernames are rahin6666 and thefreetinycarrot.

Anyway, here’s how you perform this glitch:

  1. Go to Time Tangled Island and obtain the Time Device from the people inside Pendulum’s Lab.
  2. Then, go into the common room on Main Street (the Party Time Tower).
  3. Use the time device in the bottom-left corner and go wherever you want.
  4. Walk around, and you’ll see Fact Monster buttons! If you press on them, they give you some interesting facts.

This is the old version of Time Tangled Island – before it was made into a SUI (sound updated island), there were Fact Monster buttons all over the island to drop some cool educational knowledge about the historical facets of the island. Not sure why Poptropica did away with them in the update, but now you know where to find them again! I hope you liked the glitch! :carrot:

Part 2: U.S. Poptropidential Election 2016!

This next part could probably use a little more Fact Monster, as our two honorary guests aren’t so keen on checking their facts. 😉 Please welcome, in honor of the upcoming U.S. presidential election of 2016 and tonight’s final debate, the (not so) beloved candidates…

Donald Trump (user: DonaldTrumpPHB) and Hillary Clinton (user: HillaryClintonPHB)!

prez-pop

…Sorry, couldn’t resist. Yes, their costumes are customizable. Just friend the usernames above! (I know, they aren’t the only options – but they’re the most iconic.)

Also, check out Perfect Sky’s renditions of these characters:

We are of course still taking entries for our Halloween/Fall Costume Contest – and we’re enjoying the spoopiness so far! Be sure to enter (as many times as you’d like!) for your chance to win a Poptropica membership, courtesy of Poptropica!

But hey, who needs these two candidates when we’ve got #MemeKingForPresident? 👑 Now there’s a viable choice – who else would make our Mondays better with a weekly dosage of Poptropica memery?

Share your thoughts in the comments below – just don’t break out into a political fight. 😉

Common Room Glitch: Forced Battles

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post written by Perfect Sky, a Poptropica player who’s also quite active in the community. She’s here to share a cool common room glitch – enjoy!)

forcedbattlepop

Hey everyone, it’s Perfect Sky! So as some of you may know, I’ve been an active Poptropica player since early 2008. And with all those years of playing, I’ve picked up on several different glitches.

But over time, most of the glitches I knew of were shared and became pretty well known in the community… besides one! The one I’m about to share with you a pretty cool battle glitch that I discovered back in 2011, and I’ve been using it all the time ever since! Very useful if you like hanging out in common rooms. So, let’s begin!

Have you ever seen someone in a common room that you just really want to battle? Whether it’s because they have a high rank, or maybe you just thought they looked familiar and wanted to battle them again. But when you ask them for the game, they say no. And after asking for every single battle on the list… rejected! Always rejected!

I can’t be the only one this happens to, right? And of course, there are the times where the Poptropican you want to battle is just “busy.” Well guess what? There’s actually an easy solution to this!

The steps are very simple. All you have to do is ask a different player for the battle, then immediately click on your desired opponent before the first player responds.

battles 1

And if the first player says yes, you’ll find yourself in the battle with the player you clicked on after!

battles 2

But this glitch only takes the other player to the instructions page, so they could just close the battle before starting. So you may be wondering, does this usually work? Well, let’s take a look at player two’s point of view! There are a couple main reasons why another Poptropican may not want to battle you:

  1. Your rank is too high.
  2. You just beat them in a previous battle.
  3. They are “busy”.

Fortunately, with this glitch, the other player has no idea who’s on the other end of the battle when the start screen appears. So if a high rank or a previous defeat was causing them to turn down your battles, that won’t matter! The other player will have no idea who the opponent is until after clicking “start.”

And if they close out of the battle after starting and seeing who they’re up against, then who cares? You still get another win adding to your game stats while the other player gets a lose, so who’s the real winner here? However, if the other player is busy, don’t be surprised if there is no response. Sometimes when a player is busy, they’re AFK (away from keyboard) and totally ignoring the game.

Now remember, this could get a little suspicious if you use it a bunch of times to battle the same player. So I would recommend that you don’t try to force battles with the same person more than a few times. Also, try not to ask them a million times before using the glitch, because they might become suspicious of you when a random battle suddenly appears on their screen. But after years of using this glitch, I can tell you that most of the time, the other player will accept the battle.

So you may be wondering, “What if someone uses this glitch on me, and I don’t know who they are until after clicking start?” Just click the back arrow, and you can leave the page without gaining a lose to your stats.

Well, that’s all for my little glitch. I hope you all like it and find some opportunities to use it!

Poptropica Glitching Eras & ASG Requester Update!

This is a guest post by Poptropica glitcher WimpyKidFan, who is expanding on the PHB’s Overview of Poptropica Glitching page to bring more insight into the history of glitching. At the end of the post, he also explains his improved ASG Requester service. Enjoy!

Hey Poptropicans! It’s WimpyKidFan here, and today I am gonna be dividing the Poptropica glitching years into eras. Something new and unique that has never done before. Before I begin I would like to thank Red Lizard for helping me out with the specific years of the eras. (He’s been around a lot longer than I have.) Anyway, without further ado, here they are!

glitchpop

Early Glitching Era (2008-2010)

Our first and earliest glitch era of Poptropica is one I’ll call the “Early Glitching Era.” The Early Glitching Era was from 2008-2010. During this time the earliest rares were given out during The PHB 1 Million Monster Competition. The PHB gave out rare costume parts that had leaked, which included: unicorn horn, scrawny wings, face polka dots, dragon spikes and tail, dragon wings, bubble brain, dragon wings, goat horns, dragonfly wings, body stripes, body dots, and devil horns.

Click here to find out more about the leak.

monstersoutfits

Around this time an early Poptropica glitcher and PHB author by the name of Codien hosted his “Spray on Beard” contest. More info here. As you might be able to tell, “rares” back then are common to us now! Pretty cool huh? Anyway during this time a hack was founded to make your Poptropican a dummy, which meant they would be a totally customizable mannequin Poptropican! This hack brought us to the next era. The dummy era…

The Dummy Era (2010-2012)

Dummies were a huge thing back in the day! Big time glitchers found out how to create their own custom dummies from using the same method that the Creators used to create the original six Poptropica dummies which were on Super Power Island.

dummies

Originally, there were few dummies that were created by players, glitchers, hackers, etc. However, shortly after the creation of dummies, a website was created to order your own custom dummy! It was called the Dummy-Tron and you can visit the website by clicking here.

dummytron

Although no longer in use (the Creators have since patched it), back in that time this website gained a TON of popularity. And pretty soon, before you knew it, there were Poptropica dummies everywhere.

Yes, dummies were a big hit back in the day but sadly the Poptropica Creators patched Dummy-Tron. Poptropica dummies were also patched. If you logged onto a dummy account, it would be turned back into a normal Poptropican! Alas, most Poptropicans didn’t know this until it was too late. They logged on and bye-bye went the dummies.

However, some Poptropicans heard about the dummies becoming patched, and a few of the oldies are still remaining today. Well, after the dummies, another hack was found to let you customize anything you wanted from your friends and from a SUI NPC (sound-updated-island non-player character). This brought us to the FCEG era…

FCEG Era (2012-2013)

The FCEG lifted a lot of Poptropicans’ hearts after dummies were patched.

During this time a glitch was founded that was called the FCEG. It stood for the “Friend Customize Everything Glitch”. This hack was only known be a few top glitchers.

Quite a number of people felt angry and mad about the FCEG. These people thought that glitchers were robbers, stealing their costume designs, rares, etc. This was a pretty crazy time until the Creators patched the FCEG. This lead to the next era…

Trade and Hack Era (2013-2015)

Possibly one of the most boring eras for the normal everyday Poptropicans. For the glitchers however – that was a completely different story! Many secret methods were found (I can’t mention what these were as some are used today) by glitchers.

In general, this era went by mostly unnoticed as we knew we couldn’t make the same mistake we made so many times before. (That is, leaking our methods.) So we kept the methods to ourselves.

Trading still wasn’t over though (for the most part) because of another glitch called the SUI CEG glitch. The SUI CEG glitch stood for the “Sound Updated Island Customize Everything Glitch”. This glitch was extremely simple to perform and many people found it without actually asking anyone. (Finally!)

Video on how to perform the glitch:

(Source)

As the SUI CEG became more popular, trading on Poptropica chats became worse than ever before! There were fights, drama, and people hacking each other’s accounts for rares. Many of these drama-filled events left people quitting Poptropica and becoming banned from the PHC. These times were rough until Poptropica patched the glitch.

Trading still went on after that, but with way less drama than before. The other methods were still safe (and are still today). That’s when a few glitchers decided enough was enough and there was a big surprise for everyone in the next era…

Leak Era (2015–present)

Boom! In late 2015, a big surprise happened for glitchers, thanks to the PHB. Red Lizard, Grumpy Wolf, and Zerror – working with the PHB – gave a huge gift to the Poptropica community. The Avatar Studio Gift was revealed!

ASG gift

This Christmas gift to the Pop community gave away more than 100 rare costumes to the public. This made [almost] every rare costume from having rare status to becoming common. In fact, the Avatar Studio Gift is still adding costumes and rares every day! Check it out here.

That brings me to one last thing: the ASG Requester is getting an upgrade! You may remember when I posted about the Poptropica Island ASG Request-er. Well that was sure a big hit! I’m not kidding guys, we received a LOT of requests, which have been added to the PHB’s ASG page over time.

Well, there’s good news: We now take requests for membership costumes, store costumes, and we still take island costume requests! We have a shorter URL now { popasg.weebly.com }, a bigger team, and can make dummies with packs on them (such as jetpack, cape, and so on)!

asgr

I also wanted to make clear a few things:

  • We are never going to ask you for a username for the requested ASG. We make our own usernames. (It’s easier that way.) In the “name” section, give the name of the character (eg. Captain Crawfish, Betty Jetty).
  • Don’t request for items/Poptropicans we don’t offer! (ex. ad costumes, mobile/app costumes, etc.) Please just request for either: Store Costume ASGs, Membership Costume ASGs, or Island Costume ASGs.

Thanks everyone, and request on!

And without saying too much, you’ll want to check out the PHB’s Cheats page for all the other glitching goodies out there. With everything going on right now in the glitching world, Poptropicans can easily get all the rares they want, whenever they want. It just takes a little digging!

________________________________________________________

Thanks so much for reading to the end of this post!!! Ugh, I know it was long. I hope I taught you something on the history of Poptropica’s glitching. Comment down below in the comments with questions for me, if you agree/disagree with anything, think there’s going to be another era, and so on. I’ll answer as many questions as I can!

Anyway, that’s all for now. Until next time!

Daily Pop, Glitches, Web Development

Castle Crasher, FunBrain Flasher, and ASG Request-er!

Hey Poptropicans! What’s new? Well…

BREAKING NEWS: There is finally a Daily Pop in sight. Yes indeed, let the masses know, a Daily Pop has popped up. It is the first one this month, preceded by last month’s abysmally low count of two total Daily Pops. And now, let us ponder this momentous image:

Castle Crasher: A palace fit for a queen.
Castle Crasher: A palace fit for a queen.

The PHB reached out to hear what Poptropicans had to say on the picture…

“Astro-Twice? Please let it be Astro-Twice Island,” commented Cobalt Spinner, an avid Popspiracist.

“The party don’t start ’til I walk in!” declared DJ Saturday Nite, best known for ditching the party after the zombie apocalypse took over her turf. She was last seen enthusiastically greeting players into the Arcade on Home Island, a locale known for looking nothing like what its exterior suggests. “In my defense, I’m just here to get the groove on. You checking out this castle too? Hit me up!”

“There! We finally gave you guys a sneak peek! Now leave us alone, we’re busy!” an anonymous disgruntled Poptropica developer snapped before quickly rushing off to avoid press cameras. Okay, so that last quote didn’t actually happen… but hey, we want more Daily Pops!

What do you think this scene is about?

In other pictorial news… Poptropica’s sister site FunBrain got a makeover! A lot of Poptropicans in the community have expressed in their My Place in Poptropica stories that this was where it all started for them. Well, some of us are probably not quite the elementary-aged target audience of FunBrain anymore either, but Poptropica felt it was right to give them a shoutout for their redesigned, mobile-friendly site with new games and a new look – and so, from the PHB as well, here’s to FunBrain.

The only thing is… let’s hope they keep placing ads for Poptropica. That’s how many of us came to know this place, and for the next generation, we hope they’ll find Poptropica too!

And finally… here’s a little message from PHB glitcher WimpyKidFan regarding ASGs:

Hey guys! It’s me! Your all-time favorite person in the world, WimpyKidFan! I’m the new author here on the PHB! Awesome right?! Jk. This is just a guest post so don’t you worry. The real reason why I’m here is to discuss something new I’m taking on: the Poptropica Island ASG Request-er!

asg graphic

This Request-er is a form where you guys can request for Poptropica characters from islands to be made into ASGs. Using it will be a more efficient way of requesting ASGs than merely posting comments on the PHB or PHC and hoping for someone to create your ASG.

comments

Anyway, it’s a very simple procedure. To get started, just visit the Request-er site here [http://poptropicaislandasgrequest-er.weebly.com] and fill out the form! You don’t need to be signed into a google account to fill out the form). Other important information about the request-er and its rules can be found on the website.

Because the majority of requests for ASGs come from characters from islands (villains, heroes, regular NPCs), and because it’d be pretty hard to do more than that, for now we’ll be taking island ASG requests only. But you never know what might happen in the future. We’ll try to do every request we can!

Before I leave I would like to thank Slanted Fish and the PHB. I would also like to thank my ASG team: Red Lizard, Grand, and Magic Panda. Thank you everyone, and request on!  😀 WimpyKidFan

Stay tuned for more updates on the PHB… and as always, stay popping, Poptropicans!
