Poptropica for the Nintendo DS

For those who have an NDS, you’ll be thrilled to know that Poptropica and Ubisoft are currently partnering to create a Poptropican experience for the Nintendo DS, and the release date is this year’s 2012 holiday season!

Credit goes to a PHB comment from toughraptor which brought us to a news article from PRWeb.

“Through our exciting new partnership with Ubisoft, kids will now have another way to explore Poptropica’s story-based adventures and solve its challenging quests,” said Jess M. Brallier, publisher of Poptropica. “This is yet another milestone in the explosive growth of Poptropica as a global brand.”

Ubisoft is equally excited to bring Poptropica’s awesome storytelling from where it began its success online to handheld devices.

Sounds like a winner! Will you be getting the DS game this Christmas?

Wimpy Boardwalk Island

Thunder wonders

Do you have what it takes to make it to the “Thunder Volt” high scores list with Greg Heffley, Is An Idiot (uhhh…), Sonic, Chris, Billy, and the rest?

We don’t even know what Thunder Volt is yet, but we’re asking anyway. Maybe it’s an arcade game on Wimpy Boardwalk. Maybe it’s the name of one of Super Thunder’s evil plans (just kidding). What do you think?

What a wimpy winning

Well, we were going to show you a new Wimpy Boardwalk update… but it looks like it’s out of order.

All those lovely stuffed toys you see in the background, but the claw picks up this?

Bored this summer because Wimpy Boardwalk isn’t here yet? *rolls in the advertisements*

  • Icy Comet’s Poptropolis Games Guide for the PHB is up!
  • Rules and Ranks have been added to the PHC – just scroll down!
  • Talk to other Poptropica players on our Poptropica Help Chatroom (PHC)! Meet in Multiverses, play games, chat about your favorite things, and have fun!
  • The 100th episode of former PHB author MT’s Party With Hobos was recently added to the PWH site!
  • PoptropicaHelp.net, our Poptropica Help Network (PHN) homepage, was given a few improvements. Take a look, and if you haven’t seen some of our networks listed there yet, be sure to check those out as well.

As you may or may not have noticed, I changed my screen name from Hijuyo to Slanted Fish. My Chinese name can also be translated to mean slanted (wan) fish (yu) by using different tones. I felt that it suited me more and I do like it better. As far as nicknames go, I guess you can use Slant, Fishy (to differentiate from other Poptropican “Fish”s), or stick with Hiyo/Juyo until you’re used to the new name. :3

Poptropolis Games Island, Wimpy Boardwalk Island

What time is it? Summer time!

And on Poptropica, that means Wimpy Boardwalk island is in the works! Here’s a clip from the Creators showing a bit of their creative process.

Also, next Thursday, June 14, marks the grand opening of the Poptropolis Games for everyone! This means that there’s only one week left before the members-only bonus “Wrestling Gear” costume is no longer available! Its limited time ends after the early access period.

In other news, PHB author MT recently resigned from the blog for personal reasons. If you would like to say goodbye, click here to go to his farewell post.

We’ll miss you here, Tacoz.

Bonus Items, Poptropolis Games Island, Tribes

Last Legendary Tribes!

Last but not least, the Creators have revealed two more of the tribes – in addition to the 5 shown this past week – to compete in the Poptropolis Games, making a total of eight victory-inspired tribes!

Please welcome:

Wildfire

Winning a competition as tough as the Poptropolis Games takes more than talent. It takes a burning desire to win. Do you have the fiery passion to join the Wildfire?

It certainly does seem to be “the hottest of them all,” because a quick poll on the PCB sidebar reveals that 45% of all voters have expressed interest in this tribe the most! The Seraphim tribe comes second at only 17%, and all the others have less than 10% of the total votes each.

Are you lost in not knowing which one to pick? Try…

Pathfinders

There’s only one route to the gold medal, and this tribe thinks they know which way to go. Maybe you’ll help them get there!

Also, more big news– the Legendary Swords mini quest is now completely FREE! Previously, it was free+, meaning that everyone could play up until a certain point, where you would need membership to continue.

Now nonmembers who have been dying to get in some more kills can rejoice! Get this adventure pack in the Poptropica Store, and if you need further tips after that step, the PHB has a guide written by our very own Brave Tomato! Click here to read it.

So, which of the eight tribes do you like most? Let us know in the comments! I personally like the Flying Squid tribe. 🙂
