The incredible inauguration of monthly member gifts

Hello, everyone! It’s Lucky Joker here with news from the worlds of Poptropica.

Over on Poptropica Original, the Creators have started something called Monthly Member Gifts. Every month starting now, active paying Poptropica members will receive some fun item cards. This month, those nifty items are a Cute PuppyUnicorn Head, and Shrink Power! If you’re a member, they’ll be automatically added to your inventory.

The Cute Puppy is reminiscent of a hand-carried dog from the original app’s Pets Pack,  while the Shrink Power was formerly known as the Minimizer (and available not just for members, I might add). The Unicorn Head is new, though.

If you’re not a member, you can still buy a membership within the month and these items will automatically be added to your account. Great if you want to get them!

Over on the Poptropica Worlds app, a Jack-Jack machine has been added on Home Island. Like the previous Zomberry machine, it offers more picture-taking fun.

As you can see in the GIF from the Poptropica Creators’ Blog post, there are three Jack-Jack filters to choose from. You can even take pictures with other people—and pets too!

Well, that’s it for now. What do you think of these little updates? Leave your thoughts in the comments!

Thanks for reading as always! I’ll talk to you soon… pop on!

Pop Fan Artist Spotlights

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: Criaha

Hello, everyone!

Lucky Joker here, and today, I’ll be showcasing the artwork of Criaha in the newest Pop Fan Artist Spotlight. To me, this is long overdue as Criaha is one of my favorite Poptropica fan artists out there. Anyway, let’s pop into it!

As you’ll see, Criaha is very versatile in her art. She can draw just about anything, and in any style too! Check out some of her work below and see for yourself:

Did you know that her piece, “Heart of the Forest”, has won awards in numerous art shows?

Well, it has, and for obvious reasons too—it’s beautiful! That’s why Criaha says it’s her favorite Poptropica-related piece to date. And if that wasn’t cool enough, Criaha also left some tips for any aspiring artists out there who may be reading:

For whether you want to do traditional or digital here’s my advice: never be afraid to experiment. Even if it doesn’t work, you tried. Try again. You’ll hit a sea of bad before you can even get to where you want, but that’s not a bad thing. You have to be bad in order to get good. Another tip: stop comparing yourself to others. This is the most damaging thing you can do as an artist. Art takes time and skill, the people’s who art you admire all have had a lot of time and skill put in their art. No one is just a good artist. It’s a skill like cooking or dancing. You have to do practice to be good. As for just tips for digital alone; start small, draw what you know how to draw. Also if you’ve only done traditional it’s gonna feel weird doing digital. Spend some time drawing lines, scribbles, feeling for that hand eye coordination. Also there’s art tutorials online, take advantage of them! There’s no shame looking up a tutorial. Don’t be afraid of free art programs. Medibang and Firealpaca work just fine, you don’t need to have the biggest or most expensive program to be good. Lastly, practice! Practice practice practice! Wanna be good? PRACTICE!!

You can see more of Criaha’s awesome artwork in her gallery on DeviantArt and/or on her Tumblr @blackwidowpoptropica. She’s a pretty frequent poster of not only Poptropica art, but also art inspired off of other games, like Cuphead. (Also, today marks the 2-year anniversary of Criaha and MissEligon being together, so go send them some love! ❤️)

I hope you liked this Pop Fan Artist Spotlight! Perhaps you feel encouraged to make Poptropica fan art yourself. If you have any Poptropica-related art, we’d love for you to share it on our DeviantArt group gallery, We-Love-Poptropica. Don’t forget to check out the other artists I’ve featured here on the PHB, too! Talk to you guys in the next one…

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: ArtisticAsianBunny

Hello, everyone!

It’s Lucky Joker popping in to showcase the art of another Poptropica fan artist in another Pop Fan Artist Spotlight. The featured artist this week is ArtisticAsianBunny!

ArtisticAsianBunny (AAB) draws in a simple yet super adorable style that is quite unique and distinctive to her work. Time and time again, you’ll see the Poptropica villains in most of her pieces. The funny thing is, they don’t appear scary or callous. On the contrary, they look quite huggable.

Seriously, check out this collection of her kawaii art below (and click the images for a better view):

Visit her DeviantArt Gallery for more!

Lastly, AAB shared with me how she came up with her recognizable art style and also gave me insight on how other artists can find their own. Here it is:

When I first started off getting into this community as an fan artist, the first thing I do is learn how to draw a poptropican. So, I decided to go to the PHB blog and found the “How to draw a Poptropican” page. My first try at drawing them was… decent, at least. At time go on, I looked at art from some admirable people like DeeJay-Rosiettahappyclonetrooper, and lots more and took some of their recognizable art style features to put into my own.

Experiment with the current art style you have. If you have someone you admire with their art style, take the things you like about it and add it onto yours. It doesn’t have to be just one artist however, you can do this to multiple artists as well!

Your art style is like a jigsaw puzzle, You put small puzzle pieces together to another one until you have the big picture. Of course it will take time to complete it, but once you are finished… it will all be worth it.

Well, that concludes this artist spotlight! I hope you enjoyed this look into a Poptropica fan’s artwork. Perhaps you’re even inspired to make Poptropica fan art yourself. If you’ve created some of your own, we’d love for you to share it on our DeviantArt group gallery at We-Love-Poptropica!

Don’t forget to check out the other artists I’ve featured here on the PHB, as well.

Secondly, the Poptropica store’s items have been re-filtered for the new month as the creators said they’d be. Here is the current stock:

Lastly, there’s a new advertisement on Home Island on Poptropica Original for Disney·Pixar’s upcoming movie “Incredibles 2”.

Poptropica Incredibles 1

Like almost every ad we’ve seen in the past couple of years, the game here is very similar, however, there is a little twist this time around. Like all of the other ads, you have to run and jump over obstacles in your path with your mouse, but in addition, you also get to blast them by pressing your spacebar.

Poptropica Incredibles 2

You have six lives which are represented by the movie’s logo. It’s pretty fast paced so you may have to give it a couple of tries before you win, but once you do, you’ll earn a plethora of prizes (and they’re pretty legit!) which include: an Invisibility Power Suit, and Laser Eyes, Flaming, and Jack Jack Multiply power cards.

Poptropica Incredibles 3

Well, that’s about everything! What do you think of this new-ish monthly shop update? Leave your thoughts in the comments!

Thanks for reading, as always! Talk to you in the next one…

Woot woot
Woohoo, finally!
