Pop 5: Most Beautiful Scenes in Poptropica

Hey there, Poptropicans!

I’m Happy Lobster, and since Valentines’ is just round the corner, I’ve got a new Pop 5, suited for the occasion, for you to read, and (hopefully) enjoy. So, in the many calm – and some absolutely haywire – islands of Poptropica, some scenes look simply amazing and picturesque. In fact, there are many of these kind of scenes all around. Thus, I’ve selected the best five of these, the most beautiful of all beauty in Poptropica.

You should also note that these are solely-opinion based, so there’s no need to take it too seriously. And with that said, let’s pop straight into these art critiques!

#5: Woods Clearing, Monster Carnival Island

mcarnival2

Quite a spooky scene. The colouring of the sky, the way that the trees have been twisted and shaded, sets for a rather eerie picture, though absolutely beautiful (though maybe it isn’t the best space for a picnic). The carnival folks transforming into hideous monsters can’t spoil this place.

#4: Imperial Garden & Basho’s Garden, Red Dragon Island

(Click on each of the images for a better view.)

Okay, so maybe these are two scenes. But both come from the same island, and have a very similar aesthetic, so I thought it best to place these two together as one point on the list.

Anyhow, in my opinion, these two scenes are certainly the most idyllic in Poptropica. With the all graceful plant life – most notably the cherry blossom trees – and the simple, but well-placed silhouettes, who would disagree that it doesn’t set a tranquil atmosphere?

#3: My Realms, Poptropica Realms

zrealms-background.png

Based on Yggdrasil from Norse mythology, the tree containing all worlds, this scene may seem simple, but really, it is quite captivating. The minimal sky background, the way the colossal tree’s branches twist, and the shining bubbles containing enigmatic pinpricks of light all add up to its enthralling aesthetic.

#2: Sacred Tree, Twisted Thicket Island

sacredtreett

Well, all of the woodlands of Twisted Thicket is remarkably beautiful. But this scene, in particular, is truly captivating. With the glowing flowers and woodland runes, to the patterns the ivy grows over the tree, and the superb background, this could be any enchanted forest from the oldest fairy tales.

#1: Binary Bard’s Dream, Super Villain Island

super-villain-poster.png

There’s not that much excessively beautiful to this picture; but that definitely excludes its background. A multicolored masterpiece of stars and space – coming here just to see this galactic sky is probably more worth it than obtaining the Astrolabe Totem.

And, on that note, that concludes this rather beautiful post. Feel free to share your thoughts via commenting below! 😉

Islands of the Month, Polls, Reality TV Island, Super Power Island

Time to Vote: What will be February’s IotMs?

Hey there, Poptropicans!

It’s Happy Lobster, and I’ve got some good news for you. As many of you would know, Islands of the Month takes place monthly (obviously), and so that means that two brand-new IotMs will be announced once January ends and February commences.

In a quick summary, IotMs result in the following:

  • 500 credits are given for first-time finishers of corresponding islands, and 300 credits are given to replays;
  • IotM members-only store costumes and powers will return for a limited time;
  • Behind-the-scenes artworks, scenes, plots, and other items of IotMs unseen before will be showcased on the Creators’ Blog, and;
  • Captain Crawfish will make any video walkthroughs for IotMs that don’t have one already created.

But this time, you get to decide one IotM for February – out of Super Power Island and Reality TV Island. Sadly, you will not be able to determine February’s other IotM – which, as of yet, is unknown – but one is more than good enough, right?

Anyhow, the poll ends by Friday, January 27th Tuesday, January 24th, at midnight, ET. (Updated: The time has been moved up to give Captain Crawfish more time to make his video walkthrough!)

The island with the most votes by then will become a February IotM. Vote on the Creators’ Blog now!

PHB Specials, Pop-over

PHB Pop-over Special: Inside Out

insideout_pop.png

Hey there, Poptropicans!

It’s Happy Lobster, and I’ve got a new Pop-over Special for you – and this time the crossover is between Poptropica and an animated film loved by many: Inside Out.

For those of you who don’t know about Inside Out, it’s a Pixar movie about a girl called Riley, and her personified emotions, who are in charge of her daily life – which gets slightly out of control as a result of the sudden departure of Joy. If you haven’t already watched it, make sure to do so – it boasts a simply brilliant plot and the perfect amount of action.

Poptropica costumes have been made for some of the unique characters seen in this film. For costumizable costume parts, simply add each character as a friend in Poptropica via their usernames shown in the graphic (or below in the costume descriptions), and Costumize.

  • Joy (JoyPHB): Hair is from Store item Mythology Surfer, the male version (275 credits), mouth is from retired Store item April Fool (use iPop to obtain it, since it is no longer availbale from the Store), dress is from the ASG GreenRockGirlASG.
  • Sadness (SadnessPHB): Everything is costumizable from her, so just add Sadness as friend and costumize!
  • Disgust  (DisgustPHB): Hair is from Store item Vampire Girl 3 (275 credits), bangs are from Store item Prom Queen (275 credits), blush/eyelashes are from the ASG *cloud*6, scarf is from Store item Cowgirl (275 credits), dress is from the ASG tinkertorch.
  • Anger  (AngerPHB): Baldness is from the ASG MilkBoxASG (take off milk carton headwear to see it), mouth is from Mike Teavee of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island, and the shirt, belt and pants are costumizable.
  • Fear (FearPHB): Hair is from the ASG anything662, glasses, mouth, bowtie, shirt and pants are costumizable.
  • Riley (RileyPHB): Bangs are from Store item Vampire Girl 3 (275 credits), hair, smile, shirt and pants are costumizable.
  • Bing Bong  (BingBongPHB): Hat is from man with suitcase on Main Street of Mystery Train Island, the ears’ ID is sponsorsbdog, the elephant trunk is from the ASG realms#6ASG, the suit is from Store item Magician (275 credits), the tail is from the ASG realms#7ASG, the mouth and bowtie are costumizable.

So, enjoy the costumes, let your own Joy dominate your life, and stay popping!

And, yeah, you probably shouldn’t do that.

Arabian Nights Island, Islands of the Month, Time Tangled Island

Going Back in Time: January’s IotMs

Hey there, Poptropicans!

It’s Happy Lobster here. So, a new month is kicking in, and what does that mean? Yet another month for the community to moan and groan about the overdue New Pop? Well, possibly, for those who feel like doing so … but it’s also time for another set of Islands of the Month!

The islands featured this January are Time Tangled Island and Arabian Nights. Looks like the Creators want us to visit some islands submerged in the past this time around.

january-poptropica-islands-of-the-month

As per usual with IotMs, Poptropica gives out the usual quota of extra credits for finishing IotMs: first-time finishers receive 500 credits for completing the islands in question, and repeat finishers receive 300 credits.

But Arabian Nights is not an normal island – it consists of three seperate episodes. So, how will the credits be distributed for finishers? Like for one of December’s IotMs, PoptropiCon (another episodic island), each episode gives out 500 and 300 credits for first-time finishers and re-players, respectively. So if you complete each episode for the first time, you can receive 1,500 credits! (It’s 900 for 1st-repeat finishers.) It’s about time you were rolling in credits.

Need help completing these islands? Well, Captain Crawfish has some video walkthroughs prepared for Arabian Nights, and is working on one Time Tangled’s walkthrough has been completed!

If you want written walkthroughs to assist you, you can always read the PHB’s guides to Time Tangled Island and Arabian Nights.

Well, that’s all for January’s IotMs. Make sure to hurry and earn those extra credits this month!

Hellos & Goodbyes

A Happy New Author is Popping In!

Hey there, Poptropicans!

My name is Happy Lobster, but since I’m more commonly known as HL for short, you can just call me that. And, as many of you might have guessed by now, I am the newest PHB author! My username on Poptropica is topkop88, so feel free to add me any time you like.

as1

I’m a 14-year-old boy, and I live in Australia. The amazing Poptropica community is now a colossal part of my life, and I’ve been around amongst it for about a year now, but I’ve been blogging since April. But when I’m not chatting on the PHC and blogging, a few of my favourite pastimes are reading, drawing, table tennis, reading some more, and playing the saxophone and piano – just to name a few.

Anyway, you may know me from the two guest posts I’ve done here on the PHB in the past: Popspiracy: Origins of Poptropica, of which I wrote alongside Shaky Skunk and Tall Cactus; and Pop 5: Worst Islands of Poptropica; the latter of which would be a little fresher in your memories. Likewise, you may also recognise me from my own blog, A Quota of Poptropica, which you should really check out (totally not shameless self-advertising 😉). Or maybe you’ve just never heard the words ‘Happy’ and ‘Lobster’ strung together before now, but that’s fine, by all means. 😛

I also work on two other Poptropica fansites: the Poptropica Skunk Blog and Clawtropica, two superb blogs that I also highly recommend you check out.

With that said, I’m definitely looking forward to the incoming chapters of my time here at the PHB – and, again, I would like to thank the blog for granting me this wonderful opportunity to work here! See you soon, and remember to stay popping!
