On this magical and momentous day, us Poptropicans without membership, get to access the greatest and latest:

REALITY TV ISLAND!!!

But to be honest, I don’t feel all that cheery. Having to wait so long, and miss out is kinda sapping all the fun out of playing a new island. Which is another reason this whole Membership thing sucks. I mean, I understand the Creators need cha-chingy and all, but at least they could still have Early Access Passes…

Here’s the Creators blog post about it. A new mini-game challenge (Hang Glider) was also added to the island in celebration for today. Apparently, they share none of my unhappiness on what would otherwise be an awesome day:

Post Update: Poptropica in the news?! (Credit to Deathstalker from the PHF.)

PHF member Deathstalker recently uncovered this article on Poptropica, written by the Herald Journal. (Click here to read it)

The article, besides including a lot of information that gives us insight into what goes into making Poptropica, gives us the low down on who are its Creators. Much of the information we already knew, thanks to the work of our top stalkers.

Speaking of stalkers, the article even drops a quote from Leary, directed at the stalkers:

“The site may be a big business with millions of fans, but “for us were just having fun,” Leary said, despite the legion of “12-year-old stalkers” who constantly write letters wanting to know when the next “island” will come out and what it will be like.” – from “A world on the web – Logan design team makes cartoon idea a (virtual) reality (Poptropica)”

Ahem, Mr Leary – I’m not 12. Don’t force me to call your house again.

Anywho, this looks like a costume from an upcoming Toy Story 3 Ad, which, BTW, is THE BEST MOVIE EVA. 😀

THIS IS...STAR COMMAND!!! — Who's your daddy? Buzz is. =D

The best part about this costume happens to be the wings – they retract in and out so wickedly!!! Besides, who can get enough of Buzz Lightyear staring at you with a look that says “I own you. And yes – I am the bomb. *muscle flex; manly grunts*”? The bad part is the fact that you can’t fly with them. 😦 Trust me – I tried at the Mountains in Time Tangled. Lets just say Buzz isn’t going to be going to infinity…or anywhere else, for a while.

UPDATE! Thanks to DaVinci we have now confirmed 100% for sure, that EARLY ACCESS WILL NOT be purchasable with credits. Some of you may have already known this, etc., but for those who haven’t, you can now officially begin running around and acting like an insane person, since we all know that this means the end of the world. Good luck, and watch out for those meteors.

On a less sarcastic note, I also just put up a page (http://thephf.com/projects/) which will let you see and stay updated on the current statuses of projects. This way, I don’t get tons of messages asking when’s this and that gonna get done. 😛

Poptropica “Down for maintenance?”

Hey guys! Most of you probably already know this, but currently Poptropica is down. Players trying to access the game will get this message:

All I can say is that the Creators’ are possibly testing something, which I know because EVERYTHING has changed. Maybe not visually, but it has changed “behind the scenes”. I’ll try my best to get the low down on what’s going on, and update this post.

Also, if you have a sharp eye (like me 😛 ) you’ll notice that the image looks “stretched”. This is because (and I’m guessing here) the Creators were in rush (or just made a mistake), and put in the wrong height and width values so it looks stretched. What this means, I don’t know.

Another thing: If you look at the HTML, you’ll see this: “<!– The site should be back up by 10 AM U.S. Eastern time. –>”. There’s another change too: at the bottom of the page next to the copyright and bla bla, there’s a string of text that says: “updated 01/10”
