Blue is the new maroon – the sneaker race of the week!

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and I’m here with an update onย theย sneaker race of the week!

797a8-socialmedia_featsofspeed_fb_week32b252812529

Did you hear? Maroon is sooo last week! This week, Speedy Samwow has a new pair of colored shoes to offer us if we beatย this week’s race and world record. This time, we are heading towards the self-aware island of Mocktropica as we scale up Mount Funshine!

If you are able to scale this test of endurance and reach the Jardine Juniper Tree in under 40 seconds, you’ll earn those good ol’ Poptropica-blue shoes!

However, despite all the flack I’ve given maroon, you still have a chance to get them – on the mobile app that is! Now, you can race Speeding Sam at the Arabian Nightsย lair of thieves on the Poptropica app!

So as we wait for more details on anything related to New Poptropica, at least we still have the opportunity to make “What are thooose?” jokes for just a bit longer.

Behind the Scenes: Development Testing Rooms

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post by PHC glitcher TechWizard, here to share with us some pictures he grabbed behind-the-scenes, with commentary from Brave Tomato. Enjoy!)

What’s up Poptropicans? TechWizard here and.. wait, who is this clown?! Don’t worry, I’m just guest posting. Don’t get used to me and my charms. I’m here to discuss some inside info on Poptropica that will leave you saying “woah.” The method used here is a secret, so don’t ask Uncle Tech here to leak it.

Our first image is of a SUI (sound-updated island) Back Lot! The way you can tell is that not only does the screen appear to be bigger, but also, the menu icon is on the top right instead of the top left (as the classic islands have it formatted). We’ve also had hints way back when that other islands were about to get the same treatment, yet we haven’t heard anything since. Whether this island is being re-released sooner or later, it’s interesting to say the least.

Our next room is a multiplayer room with emote mechanics like the ones used in the mobile Poptropica app! In common rooms online, you’ve normally got 8 emotions (with four categories that picks one out of two emotions at random): proud, small cheer, cry, shock, frustrated, head-popping mad, laugh, and jump for joy).  The mobile version has only 6, however: three old (cry, head-popping mad, and laugh), and three new (faint, dance, and greet). How this would affect the future of emoting is up in the air, but only time can tell.

multiplayer room

This next room has some interesting dialogue referring to bugs. It seems like the room itself is a debug room, and one of the buttons leads to a halting crash. This might be one of the line of defenses for glitches, and the crash feature could very well be used in case of emergency. Who knows?

debug room

This next one has multiple NPCs, one capable of changing size. This was most likely for creating larger Poptropican models, like the gods, and a few brute characters such as the large Viking in Mystery of the Map, as well as the tinier ones like Mr. Silva and what the Minimizer store card does. Strangely enough, to do this, you’d have to click on the mohawked Poptropican. That’s… interesting.  This one can also test multiple dialogue options.

change size

This one I like to call “Tetris Land”. Not a lot is in here, besides the odd floor, space background, and three handsome Poptropicans. If you try to speak to the first of the three, he’ll say a line of dialogue, and the other two next to him say, “What he said.” The main purpose of the room, however, is to explore certain special abilities in the game.

special abilities

This one here is a sound testing room, and even the Afro Guy here serves as a test! There can be a lot of different types of grounds a Poptropican can walk and jump on, as well as object sounds, music, and even the rarer voice acting snippet. Seeing that this is a sound-testing area, this probably ensures that there isn’t glitchiness, sound skipping, or other issues. These kinds of rooms, therefore, would be perfect for this kind of quality testing.

Lastly, check out this cool item card I found! Psychedelic flavor PopGum โ€“ if only they had released this. Looks like it might bring more happiness to the world.

Mystery of the Map – online vs. print

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and I’m here withย a very special post.

MotMGraphicCoverRemember when I told you all that I was going to get the print version of Mystery of the Map’s graphic novel in my post about when it was just released? Well, I had gotten it and re-read it a few weeks ago. In case you’re wondering why I waited so long to tell you guys about this novel, it’s because I wanted to give a fair shot to the novel’s sales. After all, the novel is a source of revenue for the Creators, and money is needed to fund the game.

This post is here to highlight the differences between the original online version that was posted last year, and the newly updated printed version. I’ll tell you right off the bat that the plot is the same as well as the circumstances. However, there are a few differences that sometimes enhance or affectย the graphic novel in other ways.

Be wary of spoilers ahead! If you haven’t bought the book, yet are able to, I recommend you buy it for yourself – it’ll support the Creators!

(As for the bookstore event, see this post for more details!)

I’ll be getting a hard copy of this book in a few days, and I’ll be happy to share any new or interesting informationย to those of you who can’t get a copy of the book! If you can get the book, it would be a helping hand to the Creators to go ahead and buy it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

In case you haven’t seen it yet, though, the second graphic novel’s title and description was uncovered a few days ago as well, so check that post out too!

This post will be updated in the future with any new information I obtain when I get the graphic novel.

In other news, if you log into Poptropica, you’ll receive two Zombie Goldfish ad items: Zombie Transform (power) and Zombie Eyes (costume part)!

That’s all for now, but check back on this post in a few days for possible updates about noteworthy things in the book!

Announcing the 2nd Poptropica graphic novel!

This post has been updated with new information.

Hey guys, Brave Tomato here with a bit of interesting news – graphic novel fans, hear me out!

So I decided to go on Barnes and Noble to pre-order the Mystery of the Map graphic novel (which is available March 1st). You know, standard “Add to Cart” and all that stuff. However, I decided to go ahead and look up “Poptropica” in the search bar of Barnes and Noble. As I scrolled down, I was met with a very interesting sight…

The release date, cover, and title of the next Poptropica graphic novel!

The Lost Expedition

The Lost Expedition.

Mya, Oliver, and Jorge are back, and have now arrived in a more arctic setting, as contrasted to their previous viking adventure. It’s written by Mitch Krpata (aka Hades), and Kory Merritt is back for illustration, of course. ย According to the Barnes and Noble page, the release date is not until August 16, 2016.ย Plus, you can pre-order it now, along with the first book.

Unfortunately, other than these facts, there is no other information on this book.

Update:ย Plot twist! I actually just discovered a description for the plot of this book on the Amazon page for it! Here’s what the description reads:

In book two, The Lost Expedition, Oliver, Mya, and Jorge continue their search for home, with a few hilarious stops along the way. As the friends set sail for new sights, they find the evil Octavian is still hot on their trail, and heโ€™s determined to get his hands on their magical map. To make matters worse, a mysterious organization is keen on expelling the three friends from Poptropica. As the pals travel, they find that each island is filled with its own unique brand of peril, and the mystery surrounding the map and Poptropica itself begins to unfold. Will our trio be able to once again outfox Octavian and discover the identity of this secret society?

A secret society. Expulsion from Poptropica. Peril. Mysteries unfolding. Identities. And a few obvious answers. Part of me wonders… this Society… would it be one that Octavian was once part of but then went rogue? And could Embed (the “Viking” Octavian tied up, and told the trio that they should be wary about Octavian) be a part of that society? Well, there’s only one way of officially finding out: play the waiting game.
