Virus Hunter: Pandemic Panic! (Part 3 of 6)

Hey guys, BT here. The latest page of Pandemic Panic had been released!

Um… an important rule in life: if you leave something important unguarded, then it is likely the wrong person’s gonna take it.

So it seems that one of the poor tourists on that bus will mistake the jar containing the CC13 virus for something else and end up with that deadly virus himself. It is likely that that unlucky tourist with the bad souvenir would be Joe Stockman/Patient Zero. If only the doctors had taken the infected jar with them…

Virus Hunter: Pandemic Panic! (Part 1 of 6) & info redesign!

Hey guys, BT here. Remember the Zomberry: Day Zero comics released throughout last December? It seems that that same artist is back, this time doing a backstory for the upcoming Virus Hunter Island! Like the Zomberry comic, there will be 6 pages. The first page was released yesterday:

So it seems from the look of things, Dr. Lange and her two colleagues are searching for this “dangerous creature”, casually ignoring ferocious animals. The “dangerous creature” is most likely the virus we’d have to fight throughout the island. From the looks of things, and the NanoBot Training, Dr. Lange seems to be a pretty eccentric character (as well as a rare female leading doctor, the last one being Lunar Colony’s Dr. Salerno).

Speaking of Virus Hunter Island, its official island information page has been given a major makeover! Still no news of the release date, and the other islands have yet to be privileged with the same upgrade.

Nano-Combat Training now available!

Hey guys, BT here. Now, when I went on Poptropica at about 1:50ish EST, I discovered this new card in the Poptropica Store:

nano-combat training

Now, before you go into the store to see for yourself, let me tell you: it isn’t there anymore. Before this card was pulled off the Poptropica Store shelf, there was an ad for it on the home page (I didn’t take a screenshot of it), and I was curious enough to check it out.

However, when I tried to access this minigame, all it did was bring me into BETA Carrotene. This is really odd.

UPDATE 1 : Fuzzy-B mentions that this “Training Sim” Daily Pop could be a sneak peek for this nanobot-battling simulation game, brought to you by the Poptropica Disease Center (PDC):

UPDATE 2: This quest is now available for real for members. It actually involves the sound and larger screen. And just to warn you in advance- it is like Thunder Volt. Here’s a video from the Creators:

UPDATE 3: The PHB now has a guide for this mini-game, which you can check out here! 😀

Beta Testers at your service, Creators!

*salutes*

That’s right, members! BETA Carrotene Island is now available for Poptropica Members to test and enjoy! (If you need a reminder or help on this island, check out the PHB’s 24 Carrot Island Guide!)

24 Carrot BETA Carrotene Island is now available!

Let the testing begin! 24 Carrot BETA Carrotene Island is now available to Poptropica Members. This is your chance to get a sneak preview of the next generation of Poptropica, while also helping us make important improvements.

To play 24 Carrot BETA Carrotene Island, grab the Gold Card from the Poptropica Store (pictured above). Or just click on the slide on your Welcome Back page. The beta test is for Poptropica Members only, so if you’re not a Member, find out how to become a Member today!

Remember, although there are a lot of new features to try out, like a soundtrack and a bigger screen, the beta is still missing some things you’re used to, like the costumizer and the ability to save your game. Fear not, those features will be returning!

Also, the cursor is not staying that way.

So head on over to Poptropica to play 24 Carrot BETA Carrotene Island and check out all the great new features we’ve got coming up!

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

So I got the chance to play BETA Carrotene, and let me tell you- it was rather different. First of all, I am in love with the music and the mood it sets (my favorites tracks are the Factory Exterior and Dystopia Main Street tracks). The sound effects are cool, when they’re not annoying (ahem, the mouse in the sewage pipes).

However, while playing BETA, I noticed that the maneuvering of my character as compared to the background is a little off. I found myself shifting different directions a couple of times and at times I found my character frozen (especially after playing the minigame where you crash Dr. Hare’s rabbot into the asteroids, but he unfroze after a period of ime), but these glitches can be fixed later. After all, it IS a beta test, so it isn’t going to be perfect. Well, the good news is that from my perspective, the island is, luckily, playable. Glitchy, but playable.

Also, is it me, or does it look creepy when the characters’ eyes go all like this when they talk?:

Also, it seems that the Creators caught our annoyance with the common room cursor and stated “Also, the cursor is not staying that way,” in its own separate paragraph. Phew, that’s a relief.

Mocktropica Island?

Hey guys, BT here with an update.

So I’ve been looking through some of the Daily Pops and I remembered this one Slanted Fish posted about, specifically the “islandception” one.

operating system

I noticed that on the top of the screen, there was a file that read “Mocktropica”.

With that in mind, I randomly typed ” www.mocktropicaisland.com ” into the URL… and it lead back to Poptropica!

So I did a “Whois” search and found out that Pearson had bought that URL on April 8, 2013! So is “Mocktropica Island” the name of Poptropica’s 36th island? Well, we’ll see.

Anyways, I think I somewhat have an idea on what this new island would be about. from the Daily Pops recently (not the Battle Bot or the Poptropolis Games-looking ones), I think the Creators are gonna parody THEMSELVES and their jobs creating new Poptropica islands and features. That’s all I can really say right now. In the meantime, here are a couple of unreleased Daily Pops I think would be related to “Mocktropica Island”, one even parodying the old Microsoft virtual “assistant” Clippy:

(Idea Generator: Spin to win, try your luck.)

(Poppycock: Nothing like a virtual assistant who’s virtually useless.)

So yeah. How do you feel about “Mocktropica Island”?
