“The Villain Saga” – Episode 2, Part 1

FADE IN.

INT. EREWHON PRISON – NIGHT

We see a very cluttered lab, filled with important scientific instruments as well as random glittery trinkets. A woman sits at her desk alone, dressed in a wrinkled lab coat, several empty energy drinks littered around her.

DR. JUPITER enters the room, holding a cup of morning coffee, and glances at the window.

DR. JUPITER

Have you…been working on that all night?

WOMAN

Yup!

(She jumps out of her chair.)

And I think I’ve found it, I’ve really got it this time! I mean, I hope–it didn’t go so great before, but I’m (almost) positive now!

DR. JUPITER

Cut to the chase, show me it.

The WOMAN lifts up a DEVICE, smiling in triumph. It’s a small reflective object with some black feathers hanging from it.

DR. JUPITER

A…mirror?

WOMAN

Well, it’s more than that but–yes. But a mirror is what changed him last time, so maybe it’ll work again!

She tries showing her invention off more, but it slips from her hands and she barely manages to catch it. She smiles, revealing quite pointy canine teeth. DR. JUPITER shakes his head and turns to leave the room.

DR. JUPITER

All right, Nyah, you can try.

Cut to DR. JUPITER and NYAH walking down a hall of the prison, to a dark cell at the end. We can hear faint clucking.

The GUARDS open the door, and they walk in, to a man sitting almost in a fetal position on the floor. His wings flap every so often, and his head darts back and forth. He jumps when the doctors approach.

DR. JUPITER

All right Bird Boy, stop moving–

DR. NYAH

Hey, don’t be so mean!

(She kneels down to the prisoner’s level, carefully holding the mirror out.)

Hey, we’re not here to hurt you.

The MAN seems to relax a little, but is still shaking and not fully aware of reality. He tries to speak but can only form clucks. NYAH holds the mirror closer.

DR. NYAH

Just look into this, ok?

She pulses the mirror back and forth, and the MAN’S eyes follow it. She then pulls out a rubber chicken.

JUPITER

What–

NYAH

Shhhh!!!

She stops the mirror, and holds up the chicken. Squeaks it a couple times.

NYAH

This is not you.

She pulses the mirror some more, making sure it flashes in the dim light.

JUPITER

(Under his breath)

I don’t think either I or him have time for your games–

NYAH stops the mirror, her voice suddenly becoming more serious.

NYAH

You are not a chicken. This is a chicken. You are a great man–

JUPITER

–who turned a bunch of people into monsters–

NYAH

–for only five minutes, and you still have a chance to be great!

(She holds the mirror even closer.)

Release!

The MAN falls over, gasping. NYAH and JUPITER lean closer, waiting to see what happens.

The camera goes to his view, and his vision is blurred as he blinks a couple times, looking up at the two scientists. 

RAVEN

Wh–what–

JUPITER

Welcome back, Ringmaster.
