Top 5 Picks

Slanted Fish by POP-whitewolf

Pop-whitewolf - Slanted Fish

Beautiful! The soft, but detailed coloring and shading makes this piece look marvelous. The sketchy background reminds me a lot the PHB’s very own wallpaper, as well as the styles incorporated into our headers! The brush strokes are smooth and I absolutely love the giant fish. Hopefully it’s a plushie? Anyway, Fishy looks fantastic! Find her DeviantArt here.

Spotted Dragon by Allisnn

Allisnn - Spotted Dragon

Am I biased in choosing this one? Maybe just a little, but can you really blame me? Either way, this drawing is also amazing! Again, very soft coloring and smooth strokes. The freckles in particular look really realistic. I love this so much, and I’m always honored to have SD drawn! If only I could make eyeliner and eyebrows look that good. Find her DeviantArt here.

#1 Fan by Creepingbear11

Creepingbear11 - #1 Fan

Cute! The Poptropica Community relies heavily on fan-art, so of course there are going to be talented artists that have big fans. In this piece, Poptropican Happy Stomper is Bashful Sword’s (BlazingAngel123 on DeviantArt) #1 fan! This was a totally cool, unique submission that stood out to me. Plus, I love the thin, kinda sketchy style (that can especially be seen in the hair and arms)! Where can I buy that shirt for myself? Find their DeviantArt here.

Blue Carpet Vlog by Fierce Flyer

Fierce Flyer - Blue Carpet Vlog

With July comes the Poppies, and with the Poppies comes fancy outfits! In this drawing, I love the inclusion of the blue carpet. The Poppies isn’t your average red carpet event, ya know! Additionally, the composition definitely stands out. The perspective of a vlogger is unique and adds a bunch of interest in the design! I mean, the Poppies do come with a livestream after all. The coloring, lighting, and overall piece is super cute. Find his DeviantArt here, and check out his posts right here on the PHB! No worries, I’m the only author that picks the art that’s featured. 😉

Getting Ready for the Poppies by xXLilAngel2004Xx

xXLilAngel2004Xx - Getting Ready for the Poppies (part 1)

Adorable! This piece is just the first part of a 4 part series of drawings showing off dazzling Poppies outfits. I like this one in particular because of how well each part of the outfit corresponds with one another, even the hair! Additionally, this style is just pretty darn cute. Reminds me of the Powerpuff Girls a bit! Can your fancy Poppies attire beat this? Find her DeviantArt here.

Honorable Mentions

Submissions, as always, were wonderful! (I always love some good PHB fanart… 😉 ) Thanks to everyone who sent something in. I’m excited for next month!

I also wanted to feature these requests that Gentle Dolphin made during the Poppies! It was a cool way to show off some of the amazing outfits that Poptropicans attended the event in. Look! There’s even a drawing of me! 😀

August: How Do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Worlds houses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is August’s theme? August’s theme is…

Science!

August marks the start of school for many kids, and with school of course comes some core subjects. One of which is generally science! I don’t wanna bore you to death with this one, but science can actually be pretty cool. Not only am I looking for straight up scientific pieces this month, but sci-fi ones as well!

So what are some examples of things can you submit? They’re endless! Write a story of traveling through the body in Virus Hunter Island, draw some chemistry themed Dr. Hare fanart, or maybe make the most science-y costume in Poptropica you possibly can! Whatever you create is up to you.

Top 5 Picks

Pisces by ArtisticAsianBunny

ArtisticAsianBunny - Pisces

Another wonderful piece from this artist! The lighting is really immersive and the colors go great with the underwater setting. Do the fish really need to be prettier than me though? Anyway, the scene feels magical and the detail to Red Panda’s surroundings brings everything together. It’s cool to see artists stepping out of their comfort zones and trying new things, because that’s the only way to improve! Anyone else a Pisces? Find her DeviantArt here.

Coral Reef by Fierce Flyer

Fierce Flyer - Coral Reef

Super cool! The sketchy style and bright colors make this piece look playful and full of adventure! The quick brushstrokes remind me of ocean waves and provide a pretty decent sense of movement. The vibrant lighting makes for a cheerful mood and gives life to the plants. Fierce Flyer looks ready to explore! I kinda want more water themed islands now too, what do you guys think? Find his DeviantArt here, and of course check out his posts right here on the PHB.

Scuba Diving Purple Seagull by Purple Seagull

Purple Seagul - Scuba Diving Purple Seagul

Very nice! The bright colors really capture your attention, but still don’t hurt the eye too much. The neon vibe is super interesting and I love Purple Seagull’s design! The scene definitely makes me want to go scuba diving! All the blue makes everything look cool and calm. Find Purple Seagull often in the comments section.

Queen Naiad by JordynGowens (AKA Gentle Dolphin)

queen_naiad_by_jordyngowens-dcfogi6

It may not be mer–May anymore, but this drawing still definitely fits our theme! Modeled after a mermaid costume made by It’s a Poptropica Blog, lots of thought was sure put into this character. Not only is this well drawn, but even a bit of backstory was described by the artist. The bubbles make for a simple, but still interesting background and the blue colors really pop! Find her DeviantArt here.

Poseidon Pop Worlds Style by SuperGrape1

SuperGrape1 - Poseidon Pop Worlds Style

This one is a bit simple compared to others, but still a nice drawing nonetheless! The colors are spot on, matching our beloved Greek god perfectly. And I must say, Poseidon has to be the best mascot for this month’s theme! A wonderful choice for this illustration. Who is your favorite Poptropica deity? Find her DeviantArt here.

Honorable Mentions

We were just a bit short on artwork this month compared to others, so we don’t have honorable mentions to share, but that doesn’t mean these submissions weren’t awesome! Be sure to keep sending us your creations, because we love featuring Poptropicans with such amazing talent. 😀

July: How Do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Worlds houses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is July’s theme? July’s theme is…

Blogs & Fans!

July is the PHB’s anniversary month, and that means more than our annual award livestream! It’s a huge occasion, and it baffles my mind how long this site has been running. Though we’ve lost authors along the way, it’s sites like this one that keep the Poptropica fanbase thriving! The fans are what have held the game up all these years, so I think it’s time to celebrate that in Community Creations!

So, what can you submit? Draw some cool group illustrations of PHB (or other blogs) authors! Write a “Pop 5” style post about your favorite parts of your favorite blogs! Create Poptropica costumes of what you think the ultimate fan looks like! Even write songs or poems dedicated to what makes Poptropica so great. You might be wondering… is this month’s theme an excuse just to let us PHB authors get some fan art out of you guys? Well… I have the right to remain silent on that.

And for your inspiration, a major throwback:

Top 5 Picks

Amenthes and Keres by WitchyArtistGal (formerly TechnoBunny16)

WitchyArtistGal - Amenthes and Keres

In Poptropica, we’ve traveled to many different time periods, but no one island has been centered completely around Egyptian mythology (though we do see Egypt in Nabooti Island). Still, Poptropica loves its mythology and this drawing not only features an Egyptian character, but a Greek one as well! I especially like the incorporation of animal legs and tail, which aren’t too common in the game. Though the photo quality is a bit rough, you can still tell that the colors and outfits are spot on, working well together. Find her DeviantArt here.

Medusa by SuperFlameKitty

SuperFlameKitty - Medusa

Unsurprisingly, another mythology piece! Though, this one is a bit darker. Not only does it give us a glimpse into Medusa’s backstory, but it also brings up a theory of why Poptropicans don’t have necks. The artist explains,

The myth is that when Medusa was hunted down by a warrior, he only managed to cut off her neck. Right before she was about to die, through sheer determination, her head started floating and she survived the beheading. Athena, impressed, declared that surviving without a neck was a sign of strength. And bada bing bada boom. Poptropicans now don’t have necks.

Grim, but a super cool theory! The perspective/composition in the drawing is captivating, and the juxtaposition between the darkness enveloping Medusa and the light from the doorway creates great atmosphere. Emotional, detailed, and amazing! Find their DeviantArt here.

Mystery Train Island by Red Tomato

Red Tomato - Mystery Train Island

Mystery Train Island is definitely a classic adventure, bringing to life the late 1800s. This drawing is super cute, showing all characters aboard the train. Even some items and clues were included. Plus, I think the numerous ‘???” capture the plot perfectly, haha! At every turn, the hero is filled with questions of “whodunit?” The colors are bright and there is something in every corner of the page, adding to the chaotic memories of playing the island and running around the train! Cute, good job! Find Red Tomato often in the comments section.

1920s AU by BlazingAngel

BlazingAngel123 - 1920s AU

What a throwback! This piece was made a while ago, when a Poptropica Decades AU drawing trend was going around in our DeviantArt community. Not only does the black and white color scheme capture this time period, but the fashion and overall style does too. A great challenge! I love the motion and the comical expressions. Find her DeviantArt here.

Frida Kahlo (but she’s a Poptropican) by ArtisticAsianBunny

ArtisticAsianBunny - Frida Kahlo but she's a Poptropican

Throughout Poptropica’s many islands, numerous historical figures can be met along the way. Including artists! However, Frida Kahlo is not one of them. This is a great Poptropica representation of her in my opinion. If you don’t know, she was a greatly influential Mexican artist. Perfect for our historical theme, and perfect for art! The Poptropican’s design, along with the background show off her style well. Super cute too! Find her DeviantArt here.

Honorable Mentions

It was very interesting to see everyone’s spin on historical figures and time periods! Especially when incorporated into the world of Poptropica. Super cool submissions, as always! Keep it up! 🙂

April: How do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fic, realms, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is April’s theme? April’s theme is…

Humor!

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring? …Pilgrims of course! No? Anyone? C’mon, it’s pretty funny. Anyway, spring is finally here (even though it feels like winter 2.0 for some people) and that typically means pastels and rainbows, despite the numerous rain showers. With some traditional April holidays comes pranks, jokes, and everything goofs. So why not have fun with it?

No matter what you submit, it’s gotta be funny. Not everyone may find it delightful, but I’m a sucker for a good pun, so you’ll probably end up tickling my funny bone no matter what. Maybe create a Poptropica centered comic, with all your favorite characters! Or perhaps make a costume with the most random accessories you can find? Even write a Poptropica themed joke book, with puns galore! The options to make people laugh are endless. (gif below from Pixel)

Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you the February recap for Community Creations! February’s theme was colorful and the featured work is not in any particular order. Be sure to check out all the featured artists!

Can you believe this series has been around for a full year already? In Feb. 2017 we kicked things off with the theme of “shipping.” Your creations never cease to amaze us, so keep them coming! 😀

Top 5 Picks

Early Saturday Fishing by Ally

AllysArt - Early Saturday Fishing

Wonderful! Super soft and colorful, with great line work. This scene is not one you find often in Poptropica fan art, but it sure is beautiful! It’s very peaceful and all the colors work perfectly together. I can almost feel the fresh Spring air! Stunning! Find her Twitter here.

Color Changing by JordynGowens

JordynGowens - Color Changing Characters

Wow! Great spin on this month’s theme. You may recall some color-changing costumes that were added to the Poptropica Store a while back, and here they are again in this drawing! Of course, totally fitting for our color theme. The bright, neon tones really pop against the dark background, and the poses are super cool. Everything is drawn smoothly and simply. Excellent idea and execution! Find her DeviantArt here.

Friends’ Love by HfEvra

HfEvra - Friends' Love

Cute! The art style is spot on Poptropica Worlds. Super accurate, outfits and all.  The lighting also brings to life the setting, because of how bright the sun seems. And of course, the rainbow ties the already sweet and peaceful scene into our colorful theme. A great cherry on top of this adorable relationship shown! Find her DeviantArt here.

Lover Bois by CraftyPoptropican

CraftyPoptropican - Lover Bois

So bright! This artist is never afraid to use vibrant colors, which was perfect for this month. The warm tones that were used provide a heartfelt, warm mood in addition to all the surrounding flowers. A great scheme choice! I’m blushing just looking at it all. The emotion is break-taking, making this piece totally deserve a spotlight. Find his DeviantArt here.

Rainbows by Criaha

Criaha - Rainbows Gif

Ooh! Now this is definitely something we don’t see every month, considering this piece is animated! Obviously the rainbow effect is perfect for our theme, but the gif format sets it a part from other submissions. The unique colors across the character really seem to highlight the different emotions the Poptropican is expressing too. Not only is there detail in the changing facial expressions, but attention was even made towards the way the body is positioned. I can see the effort put into this one! Find her DeviantArt here.

Super colorful creations by everyone! Amazing as ever and always improving! With an open-ended theme like this one, your imagination is the only limit. And a late Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤

March: How do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fic, realms, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is March’s theme? March’s theme is…

Historical!

There’s no time like the present for this theme, aye? Lots of people think of St. Patrick’s Day when thinking of March, but not everyone celebrates such a holiday. That being said, it was influenced (like most holidays) by historical figures. Additionally, we’ve just recently reached Community Creation’s one year anniversary, a big milestone in the PHB’s history! Change is happening all around us, in and out of Poptropica. So let’s take a look back in our textbooks this month!

Maybe make Poptropica outfits for your favorite historical figures? Draw scenes from your favorite time period inspired islands, like Mystery Train and Time Tangled. Even recreate monuments in your Poptropica Worlds house perhaps. These are just a few ideas to get you started, because the possibilities are endless!

Top 5 Picks

Gem Costumes by LilPoptrystalTemp

LilPoptrystalTemp - Gem Costumes

Super creative! A continuation of our other Steven Universe costumes, these outfits totally match their cartoon counterparts. Accurately portraying someone in Poptropica can be a difficult task, but these designs get pretty darn close to their characters. From left to right, we have Peridot, Lapis Lazuli, Jasper, Rose Quartz, Ruby, Sapphire, Aquamarine, Topaz, Sardonyx, Opal, and Sugilite. And each account comes with a username. Plus, I love the attention to detail in each Poptropican name. They perfectly suit the personality of each character while staying true to classic Poptropica names! Great work, I can tell this took effort! Find her DeviantArt here.

Spy Wars by Cuddly Knuckle

Cuddly Knuckle - Spy Wars

Given the somewhat recent movie release, a Star Wars crossover is very appropriate! The mashup works super well with Spy Island too. I think we could find lots of similarities between B.A.D. and the Dark Side, right? I wonder if B.A.D. has cookies… Anyway, this is a cool action pose and there’s definitely strong attention towards lighting. Nice! Find his DeviantArt here.

Twilight Sparkle by HfEvra

HfEvra - Twilight Sparkle

Great editing! Any of our viewers My Little Pony fans? Even if you’re not, I think we can all agree this is an accurate representation of Twilight Sparkle in Poptropica. Even more so, the designs are all in a Poptropica Worlds art style! Hooves Fingers and all! They totally look like actual, in-game costumes. I love that a suitable background was included, as well as a variety of outfits! Find her DeviantArt here.

Gingerbright by Purple Seagull

Purple Seagul - Gingerbright (Cookie Run)

Not as much detail, but still super cool! For you Cookie Run fans out there, have you ever wondered what GingerBright would look like in Poptropica? Well, wonder no more! This cute little character would fit in perfectly with some of Poptropica’s more lighthearted adventures, and definitely looks like both GingerBright and a Poptropican, cookie crumbs and all!  There’s even a bit of shading to help her pop. She’s so cute I could almost eat her up! Find the artist often in the comment section.

Train to Zomberry Island by ANNE14TCO

ANNE14TCO - Train to Zomberry Island

Now here’s a change in mood! On the more intense end of the spectrum is Train to Busan, a Korean zombie film. This pick is an interesting contrast to the world of Poptropica, which just goes to show you how diverse our community is. Still, the comparison to Zomberry Island is perfect of course. The lighting and emotion in this piece is fantastic! It puts me on the edge of my seat for a thriller. Plus, the movie poster format is quite creative, fitting both sides of the crossover (with a little reference to Back Lot Island). Amazing work! Find her DeviantArt here.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is February’s theme? February’s theme is…

Colorful!

Valentine’s Day is coming up and that means it’s been one full year of Community Creations! Last year we kicked things off with “shipping” and the rest is history. Anyway, February is a time of love and friendship, so why not express that through our creations? While colorful can literally mean using a bunch of vibrant colors, it can also just refer to a creative, positive mood.

So with that in mind, there is a bunch you could make! Use bright, bold colors in some cheesy Poptropica Valentine’s Day cards. Dress up your Poptropican in a crazy, vibrant costume. Draw your Poptropican and a bunch of your friends hanging out and just having fun. Write a positive, poppy love story. The list goes on!
