As you may have heard, the Costumizer feature is finally fully functional on all the new sound-updated islands (SUIs). Let’s take a closer look, shall we? First, to access it, you’ll need to open the Menu, which should be in the top right corner. Look for the green shirt button:
Once you click on that, you can select the character you’d like to customize from!
This will then bring up the new Costumizer window, with a more fanciful background than the plain blue of the old one. You can hover over items the other character is wearing to select what you’d like to put on. So far, so good – it’s a lot like the old Costumizer!
But here’s a new handy feature: click on the green shirt with a magnifying glass on the left side to bring up a panel where you can choose from all the items that are customizable!
If you click on the button above that – the Poptropican with a cursor on it – you can select another character in the area to customize from. (Or, if you’re the only character visible on the screen, the Costumizer will bring up only you and you can un-customize from the right.) And if you need some inspiration for your new wardrobe, check out our Costumes page! Happy Costumizing! 😀
I know, the title is sorta snotty, but it’s true. We demand a lot out of the Creators, and sometimes we get a little impatient. 😉 There are a few key features of Poptropica that were lost when islands converted to SUIs, and one of the features that they got rid of… that has been a part of Poptropica since it started… was the Map. But, as the title states, we citizens of Poptropica want our way! That’s why, over the past week, I have developed fabricated SUI maps to be put on the PHB’s Maps page (Also, check out the fonts page for a plethora of new fonts to use!):
I tried to make them as accurate as possible to the original maps, and hopefully they will help a few of you guys out. Other than that, they’re a nice tribute! 😀
If you’re unfamiliar with the island maps, this was a feature that showed you where you were on an island and what places you had yet to discover. This was a great help to the beginners as well as the oldies. The PHB has a Maps page (under the Cool Stuff tab) that documents all of the maps as if you had already played the island. This told the player a little more about the island, and more about where he should go. Maybe it was just a little too easy with the Map to play Poptropica.
As you may have guessed, this is you guys’ prize for getting me 10 likes on my Following Up post. Let’s try to get this post 15 likes! I know you can do it! Who knows what the next prize will be… 😛
Some of you may have seen the Roman soldier on top of the tourist center on Shark Tooth Island, as mentioned in Sam’s post last week – but in case you missed the updates in that post, there’s more to the Shark Tooth shenanigans. If you go left of Main Street, you’ll find yourself on a small island with a wrecked ship in the background that definitely wasn’t there before. And that’s not all! Check out some of these other new places on other islands, also to the left of Main Street:
There’s a floating car on Night Watch, a smoldering crop circle on Astro-Knights, a barbed wire fence and some PASE boxes on Lunar Colony, and a plain wooden fence on Vampire’s Curse. Those seem to be all the ones so far, but do comment if you find another. 😛
All of these areas are pretty small, and they seem to serve no purpose as of now – my guess is that they might be used as ad spaces in the future, but who knows? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
Hey everyone! Just to be clear, I meant monstrous in a good way! xD As you can see, the Creators have finally put up a proper trailer video for Monster Carnival Island:
Overall, I thought it was a great trailer – it told us a bit about the island, but not too much. By calling the trailer “monstrous”, I mean “abnormal”: how often do you see the creators post a trailer for an island AFTER the island comes out? Is it just me, or is everything in Poptropica is becoming more and more monstrous? 😛 Anyway, tell me what you thought of the video in the comments!
Also, be sure to check out the PHB’s Monster Carnival Island Guide – whether you’re a member who needs help with the quest or a non-member who wants to see what the island is about before you play it, we hope you enjoy our written walkthrough with pictures! 🙂
There’s a new ad building showing its face around Poptropica, advertising the new movie by Dreamworks, Mr. Peabody and Sherman. The movie itself doesn’t look bad, and no, I’m not getting paid to say that, but what’s experimental about the ad is… well, the ad itself! 😆
First of all, inside the building (which I found on the Main Street of Monster Carnival Island), it’s a multiplayer room. I’m not kidding. Of course it makes the room laggy and whatnot, but I think it’s actually sorta a good idea! It gives the player a new common room and environment to interact with other kids in, and as you interact, you can get brainwashed by advertising! I’m joking, of course. 😛
The downside is, the more they work on the common room aspect of the building, the less they can do with the special powers. You can get two new cards from this building: Scooter Power, and Zumba Power. All the Scooter Power does is makes Mr. Peabody and Sherman drive by the screen on a scooter. The Zumba Power shows an annoying clip of Mr. Peabody dancing.
There’s also a WABAC machine that shows yet another annoying clip from the movie. 😛
What’s really cool about the ad, other than the common room aspect, are the costumes. There is a Mr. Peabody costume, complete with dog mask, and a Roman/Greek/IDK Sherman costume next to it.
The mentioned things above are the highlights, but you can also watch the movie trailer, learn about the characters, and check out some snapshots from the movie. 😉
I bet you’re wondering — why the “photos” in the title? Well, it just so happens that the photos (from the Friends feature) for all SUIs have finally been released (thanks Squeezy Wing for the initial update)! We haven’t been able to replay all the SUIs yet, but if you have the new photos in your album (we already have Mocktropica’s) and want to help us out, please leave your username in a comment below, and we’ll add the photos to the info pages. 🙂
EDIT: There are currently only the Virus Hunter Island and Mocktropica pictures, which have both been added to the pages. 😉
Taking advantage of a design flaw.
I’m the Mancala Master.
See? You can make a difference.
I kicked their bots.
From 1956 on Monster Carnival Island to modern day Mocktropica, these photos are pretty close to time traveling. 😉
I’m going to start posting a new “Poptropican Problems” meme made by a different person each time (this time by me) at the bottom of every post. I’m calling it “Meme of the Day”. Tell me what you think in the comments! 😛
